The Avengers Where they have gone wrong with the avengers project so far

People are understandably disappointed. A recasting does nothing to actually HARM the potential quality of the movie, but surely for a project like this where some of the appeal IS the continuity, it would have been visually better to see Norton again reprising his role.

Some people are going to take it way out of proportion and say it ruins everything, but it's also not fair to say it doesn't detract anything, either, vato.

I agree thats its a negative, just that many are blowing it out of proportion. Recasts of major characters always annoy me.

I really like Ruffalo for Banner too. He's a great actor IMO, who also harkens a little to the Bixby look. I also really liked Norton. I just with they would have picked one and stuck with it.

Like i've said before, we can always "Hayden Christiansen" him into TIH :woot:

Also, as enjoyable as TIH was, it really isn't a pivotal movie when you think about it. Essentially it can be summarized with the following line: "The Hulk fought a guy."

Captain America is possibly the most important prelude to The Avengers and with Dr. Jurassic Park III at the helm that is probably the biggest thing to be worried about.. though it looks sweet so far.

Nah, TIH was about taking a negative situation and turning it into a positive which is a very heroic thing to do. Banner took what seemed to be the worst thing that could have happened to his life and used it to save world.
That really sets TIH apart from alot of other superhero films:bh:
Both Iron Man films, TIH, Thor, and Cap are all equally important as preludes for The Avengers as each of them represent different aspects of the Avengers.

^ This. Banner wanted out and wanted a cure, but realized that that there is no cure, and the best way to handle it is to gain control of it. How Banner is in the Avengers is not only key to the continuity, but we get to see how he has handled it.

QFT

No, TIH was about fights.

Cap's movie is most important largely because Hulk is just going to be eye candy and Thor is just a guy with a regular hammer that can't do anything, so they are the strongmen on the team. Obviously Iron Man is the fan favorite at this point so he is the draw. Captain America's role is pivotal though as he is the First Avenger, the very title alone suggests the seeds of the Avengers begin with him and his story. There could never have been a Hulk movie and TIH story could be covered by a guy saying "yeah, that's Bruce Banner he doesn't like being the Hulk but he has sometimes used his curse for good, which is heroic." Done.

Wow. Your opinion on TIH isn't slanted or anything.

You could mitigate practically any of the Marvel stories if you tried.

Guy takes super soldier serum. Throws shield around. Done.

Guy make robotic suit. Flies around. Done.

I could go on and on .... but seriously your summary of TIH is just funny to me.

Maybe i'm in the minority here, but I can't watch The Rocketeer and then think Johnston doesn't have what it takes to make an EPIC Cap movie.

JJ I don't blame for JP3. The script for it was lousy. However, when he has a good script, JJ delivers. Marvel rehired the Cap writers to pen a sequel, so they must like what they did with it and wasn't Whedon doing some minor revisions on it? If so, JJ has good material at his disposal. Plus, he was there when they made Raiders and did The Rocketeer. He's got the chops for Cap

Agreed. You could boil ANY comic movie into a sentence like that if you didn't like them and wanted to.

Some have their mind made up ahead of time or think anything thats not done the way they would have done it or wanted it done is bad.

If you don't like Hulk then thats fine, but TIH was a great Hulk movie. The best we have seen.

TIH was very essential. It was the first Marvel film to expand more on how involved SHIELD is in thie universe, the Banner's arc was great, and it also showed us Ross isn't going anywhere. He's important to where this universe is going.

Thor is a guy with a regular hammer that can't do anything?!?

Thats so much fail that its ridiculous.

Its hard to take anything you say seriously if your making comments like that.

You obviously know nothing about Thor, The Avengers, nor the roles they play or character dynamics.

I agree.

while recasts will be inevitable if marvel studios wants to continue making films. it's a shame they couldn't use norton again. it was the thought of these actors coming together as well as the characters that provided some of the excitement to the avengers initiative.

Wow, his comments about Thor being a regular guy with a hammer were one of the dumbest I've ever seen here on the hype.:word:

I wonder what he thinks about cap: an old dude on steroids, dressed with a flag and with a frisbee as a weapon.:oldrazz:

Nah, he says above what he thinks of Cap.

Apparently he's the only Avenger thats not a cardboard cutout just there to take up space.

But he did say in the Cap forum Cap was def gonna flop.

An insider who got his facts on TIH's release date wrong :oldrazz:

UltimateJustin is the poster who said The Dark Knight was our generation's woodstock. :ikyn
