He's getting his own movie, most likely with Janet in it too.
I'm honestly not sure why they wouldn't introduce him in Avengers first but oh well.
First off, Whedon's writing is hardly "soso". What are you even basing that on?
Like was said above, whether you believe it or not Whedon rewrote the entire script.
Buffy, Angel, Doll House and all of his tv projects. Whedon has delivered good tv but films??? I can't say that I was impressed with Serenity at all. I like the guy and like I said he's done pretty decent tv but nothing that has sold me that he is gonna knock the ball outta the park with the Avengers. I've said before with Whedon is that he'll more then likely deliver a film that won't suck but I'm not expecting greatness and it should be greatness and epic if you gonna pull the Avengers together. The same goes for a JLA film if one is ever made.
I'll admit the final product has been hit or miss and I think questioning him as a director is fair, but even for his "misses" the writing was great.
If you didn't like Serenity then I don't know what to tell you. We just have vastly different ideas of "good writing".
Everyones different though.
I can agree that they are taking a chance on him as a director for such a large project.
I would think it looks TVish mostly because of the budgetWell sir you have misinterpreted my posts. I didn't say that Whedon was an awful writer or made sucky shows. I've enjoyed both Buffy and Angel, never got into the others although I e seen some episodes. The guy made entertaining tv. Serenity wasn't a bad movie, all I said was that I wasn't impressed. It felt very TVish. I know it's easy to think I'm against Whedon based on my complaints but I like The guy but for the Avengers I don't see what he's done to show that he's gonna do a good Avengers flick. As for his directing? I'm just gonna hope for the best but I'm not sold.
Another place they went wrong is with the line up. I love all the characters but they really need some members with impressive powers or one that make for good fx. Super strength is cool in all but not impressive. Thor looks to be the only one that's probably gonna make for cool fx. They really shouldve gotten the Scarlett Witch in there. If u gonna bring in the Skrulls if it's to be believed, then they are introducing a cosmic element. It would seem like Captain Marvel and Quasar would be a no brainer. I know they aren't founding members but if Black Widow is in the mix then why not some members that have cool powers? At least throw an eternal on the team. I'm just ranting but they really need some more characters with outlandish powers cause right now it's basically Hulk and Thor that have the powers.
Marvel should've done Fing Fang Foom when they had the chance. Destroying Tokio AFTER 3/11 will probably be considered bad taste
We've yet to see how they are going to approach Cap's shield-slinging fx-wise as well. Might just turn out to be the most visually impressive element that we get, who knows?

You're forgetting Iron Man, he has missles, repulsor beams, super strength, lasers, flares etc.

I hear what you're saying regarding super powers and lost opportunities visually, but I'm glad they're sticking to the original core group (more or less), especially for the first movie.
I think the combination of Thor, Iron Man and the Hulk alone will be able to provide enough "wow" moments visually.
The shield throw is king. It may not be the flashiest but it could well be the most impressive.
Depends on how its done and all that in regards to how it comes off on screen but the geek in me wants to see one of them 'old-school ricochet throws' - y'know, where Cap's in a room, throws the shield and it hits all the walls like a pinball, taking out about 5 bad guys along the way before it returns to his hand.

He could just as easily destroy New York. Though, I doubt he had a chance of appearing in a movie anytime soon.Marvel should've done Fing Fang Foom when they had the chance. Destroying Tokio AFTER 3/11 will probably be considered bad taste

For the sequel, I'd love for them to expand to some of the others ... Pym, Wasp, Vision, Scarlett Witch, Quicksilver, etc.
