What gets under your skin more? The abuse of people or the abuse of animals (like dogs etc.)?

It depends on the circumstance of the torture. Any torturing done for no other reason than to cause pain and anguish in another, human or animal, is disturbing. Torture for coercion, punishment or research is more abhorrent than disturbing.

This is a weird poll. Torture towards any living creature is horrible and cruel and totally not right. Both are equally disturbing. Abuse/Torture of animals usually leads to abuse/torture of human beings.

For those who seem to applaud torture of human beings, I wonder... is that only limited to hardcore criminals or humans in general?

I LOVE animals and would probably own a zoo full of adopted animals if I have the land and other resources.... but anyway, I just don't get how can the abuse of a human, example a child, an old man, a helpless woman or an innocent man, be less disturbing than the abuse of a helpless animal? I think both should be equally disturbing. Anyone who can inflict torture on a human is no better than those who inflict torture on an animal.

Well, that's all good and well for dogs, but what about the less cute members of the animal kingdom? If there's one thing I hate it's people who will help a cute puppy with a cold before the help a lizard with a tumor. Of course, I'm not saying that you are this type of person, but I just want to voice my distaste for that "if it's not cute then it can't be pitied" mentality.

I would have to say animals without a doubt. People suck.

I would tend to agree.Its in human nature to kill and tourture each other,but animals can not defend themselfs for the most part,that`s why i choose animals.

I just used the dog as an example. The only animal I wouldn't help is a squirrel. There are too many where I live. And rats. Rats are gross.

because i don't invest any emotion into animals, i've never had the need to, their just animals in my eyes.

consider this twisted logic...

if you ever came across beastality on the internet, what would your mind go to first

that man is crazy
that woman is being abused

that poor sheep is being molested
that dog is being treated unfairly


the mind (or at least mind) automatically looks at the human victim culprit and just sees the animal as a means to an end in production. Same goes for when jockeys whip horses in horseriding or fox hunting affairs when the foxes get done in or perhaps all the battery hen abuse that goes on and we happily feed off them or perhaps animals in zoos and music videos and all that jazz.

perhaps i'm just desensitised or maybe i've never been sensitive to animals so much to begin with.

either way if i saw a stray dog or a stray baby, i know which number i would be ringing up for assistance first time after time.

but again, i can understand why people who said animals would vote in that manner, just giving light from one perspective.
