You people can't honestly believe that this man was sane before he fell into a vat of chemicals, which we don't know for sure. Keep in mind that in the killing joke all the flashbacks are told from Jokers POV and he admits that sometimes he remembers it differently, that he prefers his past to be multiple choice. And anyway people keep saying that without the joker look he just isn't the joker. Well haven't you all noticed he does have the joker look? Even if it's not perminant. And if it isn't I am sure it will be by the end of the film. There is no way you can classify Joker as a regular nut job, clown make up or not. The Joker is undefinable within peramiters of known psychological disorders. His mental state is undefinable. He fits the hallmarks of a sociopath, but he goes so far beyond that. His skin color doesn't change that

You see, for me and many others, the whole house of cards rests on this. At the moment, we just can't tell. That's why the debate is fairly impassioned on both sides.

The story of the Joker is the most important. Just like in books, movies, and comics. The story takes you to another level. The pictures / image of the man all help but like all things the story should lead the characters.

If the story sucks, then you have to go Michael Bay style.. with non - stop explosions and hotties running around... (which is not bad all the time). But with our characters I hope we all want more story than that.

The joker could be as sinister as he is in Arkham Asylum, or plain as Doug as long as he has a good story to dance with I am all good.

Just like hearing a good story from an ugly friend... it does not matter what your looking at.. as long as the story is really really good.

That sick sense of humor. Joker '89 was permawhite, but his antics didn't strike me as crule and sick.

I've still haven't figured out what's so cute and cuddly about luring thousands of Gothamites to be killed in the streets and mutilating his girlfriend's face for the sake of "art."

Having said that, I'm still looking foward to the new Joker. And as long as two things happen:

1 - there's no real explanation/origin to his character
2 - he's simply an awesome character

Then I can get past the white being make-up.

I picked bleshed skin because if the Joker doesnt have white skin he wouldnt be the Joker. Yet I would have loved the option to choose both...

Everyone would love that option, but the whole point is, you're being forced to choose.

i think its very important to have both elements of the joker, both bleached skin and psychotic personality. Thing is nolan might have a different perspective with his joker, but as long as joker acts the part im cool with it. Although it's also important to realize what made the jokerwho he is. Whether it was the chemicals and the bleaching of the skin that made him snap or the fact that he always had a whacked out personality to begin with. I always wondered what must of been going through jokers mind the first time he saw his bleached skin, i mean can something like that really drive a man to insanity??

Both are important...that's like asking whats more important to the Hulk...being super strong or green

whats more important to Batman...being in costume or being a detective???

Yea we will just have to see, the one thing I will say though, is some one did mention earlier about how Joker went from silly clown, to a gangster, to a raving serial killer. So the personality of Joker can evolve but the appearance of him cannot?

See I love so far what Nolan has done with the Joker. I got so tired of seeing the same looking Joker, no matter the artist, it always looked similar. I like this new look on the Joker something different. If in 50 years we can go from a silly clown to a man who rapes, kills and is pretty much the devil, why can't the appearnce change? As they always say Appearnce is not everything.

Also I remember people freaking out about the Scarecrow, for BB, and it turned out just fine.

Now, if I had to pick with that one, I'd be shallow and go with the costume. :whatever:

I don't think going with the costume in that instance is necessarily shallow. Batman's costume is just as essential to his war on crime in many ways as his detective skills. It's vital to his method.

Yeah, I suppose so. After all, the costume contains all of the mythos behind the symbolism of the bat and his use of fear to combat crime in Gotham.

Guess it isn't so shallow, hm. :yay:

Sick humor, psychotic tendencies

But the appearance helps, too. :cwink: Gordon proved that. You don't see anyone complaining about HIM.

The thing is, at this point, nobody knows for sure what the deal is. Is this going to be another Spider-man shoots web from his wrists or Joker killed Bruces parents in the 89 flick? 95 percent of comic movies get something drastically wrong. The question is how major is the white skin issue? My opinion is.......eh......kinda sorta.

I voted 2 - while as a Fanboy I would just LoOoOoOove to see the bleached skin...without it, it will hardly ruin the character for me.
