FF(and SS with them) & X-Men bring the most to the table as their mythos involves a far larger segment of the Marvel Universe than street level heroes like Spidey or DD. So I'd vote for them. Sure, I'd love them all to be back in the fold but in at least one sense their absence is proving benefitial: It's forcing Marvel to pay more attention to it's more overlooked characters which is why we got an Iron Man, Thor and soon a Cap movie(s). If Marvel could've just coasted on Spidey, X-men & FF then they might've been tempted to play it safe even further and do just that. It also forces them to not put too much out too soon but really concentrate on getting each one right(to one extent or another).

The Marvel comic universe is already too small to fit the X-Men universe inside of it, let alone the movie universe. They are better off not being able to use mutants in the Marvel Movie Universe. Also, I sure as hell (no pun intended) don't want to see Mephisto coming in and making retcons, so that rules out Ghost Rider as well.

Spider-Man has always been one f Marvel's golden children, and I think it would be great to see him exist in the same world as Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America. I don't much care for the new direction Sony is taking the franchise in, either. Fantastic 4 would fit pretty easily into the MMU also, since it's just 4 characters.

But yeah-- I want no X-men or mutants in the MMU, and no deals with the devil. :o

The problem with bringing in X-men AND FF AND Spider-man is that the universe does get too crowded. I hate using the word "realistic", maybe grounded is a better term.

I disagree on the whole mutant thing but I'm ok when it comes to Mephisto. Not that even he or Ghost Rider couldn't fit(if Dr. Strange can fit, they can) but I wouldn't like deals with the devil either. But the mutant thing is something I'd be sad never to see in the MCU. It doesn't have to be as big and overblown as Marvel eventually let it get in the comics(I don't see there to be any need for literally tens of millions of mutants in the world); the phenomina should still be fairly unique(say, maybe 100,000-500,000 mutants out of 6-7 billion people on the planet).

voted for F4, purely so they could use Doom in avengers

I'd love to see Dr. Doom in the MMU, so F4 would definitely be a good franchise for Marvel to re-acquire.

I understand where you're coming from Tim, but as a GR fan I still want to see him eventually included in the MCU.

Also let me agree that getting too crowded is a real concern but IMO it's only in the sense that too much gets dumped in too quickly. And in that sense it actually is beneficial that Marvel will only slowly get the rights back to each of these properties. It kinda works in their favor that way.

I think DD, GR and the FF are the most realistic to return to Marvel honestly. We can FORGET about X-Men or Spiderman.

My first choice would be X-Men though.

X-Men I am fine with Marvel not getting back. In fact, I think the comics would probably be better off if they would keep the X-men universe separate from 616, although I know that such a choice wouldn't go over well with some fans. I would have loved to see Toby Maguire in the Avengers lineup with RDJ, Hemsworth, Evans and the rest, but that's obviously not going to happen, and it looks highly unlikely that they'll get Spider-man back unless Amazing Spider-man does so bad that Sony doesn't even bother making a DTV sequel that they can four-wall (i.e. a single screening in a theater).

In a nutshell, Spider-man is out of Marvel's hands for the forseeable future, and the X-men universe is so rich that Fox can pretty much mine it indefinitely for X-men sequels, prequels, and spinoffs of all sorts. They keep saying they're going to reboot Fantastic 4 and Daredevil, however until I see those materialize I'll file them within the realm of possibility for Marvel to re-acquisition.

True, besides, we ALL know that the Amazing Spider-Man is gonna be far from a "flop" of any kind.

I agree that FF is the overall best choice, both in realistic chance to return and property potential.

DD is next in my book. A lower budget Marvel Knights style crossover series, kind of like Avengers, with guys like Punisher/Daredevil/Luke Cage/Iron-Fist/etc.

It would have potential as, not a true crossover team film, but as a shared city and overlapping stories from movie to movie, with occasional crossovers.

Agreed :word:

I voted X-men, but that's only because FOX has left me disappointed. I know Marvel would do the movie right in terms of developing the main characters. This First Class nonsense is just a ploy to pull in more money and I will be skipping it just as I did the wolverine movie for the same reason. That said, if they were to purchase the rights of a franchise to insert into their newly established movie universe, I would want the Fantastic Four. My one complaint about comic books is that there are so many people with powers. I feel like 1 in 5 people walking down the street would have some type of power. I think the for incorporation into the Marvel Movie Universe I want Fantastic Four, but for their own Movie Universe, I want X-men.

I'm not entirely convinced. I still say it is too early to reboot Spider-Man, and a lot of my non-CB-fan friends and acquaintances agree. Most people still consider Toby Maguire to be Spider-Man, and Sony is going to have an uphill battle in convincing them otherwise. Also, I do not know what kind of visual spectacle we can expect from ASM that will draw people in, seeing as it has a much smaller budget than the first film and in an economy with a much weaker dollar. If people see the trailers and say "this looks like the low-rent version of Spider-Man," there could be some tough times ahead for the franchise.

any thought that Sony and Fox will be giving up their properties is crazy talk. GR isnt going anywhere since they are filming a movie.
Also a studio doesnt have to come out for a studio to maintain the rights...they just have to be moving forward on it. Roger Corman's company rushed out the FF movie from the 80's just to keep the rights.

Deadpool mainly, I know that FOX is intending on doing the movie. Its just the fact that they will have full control of it.

I was going to include Punisher in my list, but since the rights have apparently already revered to Marvel Studios' control, I'm going to say Daredevil and Blade; not only are both characters extremely interesting in their own right, they would fit very well within the grander pantheon of the MCU, especially in light of what Thor brings to the table.

BTW, does anyone know whether or not Marvel would be able to use the characters of Abraham and Abigail Whistler were they to ever re-acquire the rights to Blade?

The Fantastic Four with stories of them set in the 60s

Well, if I had to chose one, I voted FF. Who doesn't want to see Hulk and Thing battle on the big screen. :yay:

But seriously FF has a richer history of characters than the others other than X-Men, but the X-verse rarely mixes with the other Marvels.

I would love to see a FF Movie done by Marvel. Also that would be a Chance for great Crossovers with the Avengers. My favorite Ideas would be a Thing vs. Hulk Movie and a Torch and Spidey Movie. So Marvel also needs to get Spidey back :)

Fantastic Four, easily. Marvel could do so much with the franchise.
