If i HAD to choose, id go with gameplay and stay with Splinter Cell. Both games are great(imo) for their own reasons. SC for its gameplay and more reality based missions and MGS for it FANTASTIC stories and choreography. Im not sure im going to get the PS3 or not, but i have a feeling the deciding factor will be MGS4 and wether or not i can go without playing it.

The name Snake sounds better then Boring Sam.
YEAH! Deathray would be a much better name to a realistic Tom Clancy character! No wait! The Cobra King! How about Super Ninja Killer!?

You MGS fans are a riot.

Solidus Snake
Otacon
Big Boss
Raiden
Revolver Ocelot
Gray Fox:rolleyes:

MGS is a joke. You'll grow out of these giant robot, people with animal names, mullet haired, no gameplay and all FMV games soon enough.

Are you unable to grasp the fact that the Metal Gear games are not trying to be realistic? And most of those are code names?

Code names don't have to be childish.

And all those numbers tell me up top is that there's a bunch of kids here. I'll bet no over the age of 20 voted for MGS.

Ohhh.... so that explaines the really fricken long FMVs and lack of gameplay? Those games are all fluff and no real substance.

*sits back and waits for the routinely predictable response "I am (inserst age>20) yeard old and I love MGS"*

Lack of gameplay? Are you f#!king nuts? The way you're roasting MGS it's as if you haven't even played them and are basing your dislike of the franchise on what people have said. The cutscenes do nothing but immerse you more in the experience and the story. If you don't like it, that's fine.

Splinter Cell is nothing but "You're here. You are Sam Fisher. You must do this as stealthy as possible." With a story you don't give a bloody damn about, and I'm all right with that, it's always nice for a change and I have nothing against the format. Double Agent will hopefully change the whole apathetic attitude I have when playing as Sam, with the multiple conscience decisions making you feel more emotional about it, but if MGS isn't your cup of tea don't go around preaching it sucks.

It's like you're insecure about your maturity or something with the "20 and under only voted for MGS" bulls#$t. So what if no one over 20 didn't vote for MGS? Give me four more years and I'll be twenty, and I'll still love the Metal Gear Solid games. Time won't deteriorate that. So please, unless you've played through at least one game to the end stop breaking everyone's balls just because they don't need everything grounded in reality and can suspend their belief to be immersed in a great game with easy gameplay and a fantastically written story. This applies to all three, even two despite it's flaws.

Thanks for giving me a way to kill ten minutes. And Darkstorm, you're an idiot.

So, I guess Metal Gear Solid is the best by popularity then.

You obviously have never read a Clancy novel. Either that or you just couldn't follow the story. Play it again in a few years.

As for four years from now...just be prepared to sell all of your MGS games. Things that're cool now, just aren't as cool when you grow up. Trust me. You can get as pissed off as you like but I feel like I'm telling a kid there is no Santa. Getting all bent out of shape won't change the fact those games you've loved (yes, I played them I was young) some how seem silly, childish, over the top and corny. Giant robots don't exactly scream awsome.

Not used to a real stealth action game are you?

No giant robots? No deflecting bullets with a sword? It's called realism. But I'm sure many of the real world secret agents have run into their share of giant robots...

I could follow the story, it's just I couldn't care less about it. And not everyone who gets older suddenly gets turned off by stuff that isn't believable, no matter how comical or lame it might be. I don't play MGS for the stealth, or the realism, I play it for the story and enjoyment. I like Splinter Cell because Fisher is a certified badass and it's fun in short spurts, but it's like pancakes to me, you're all excited at the beginning but then by the end you're just sick of 'em. Assuming you play through a SC game in one sitting. With Chaos Theory I could only play one or two missions at a time since the stealth and the waiting was just so overwhelming, but I'm an impatient person so whatever. It seems you still can't understand Metal Gear isn't about realism.

No. I can agree with most of what you've said.

I'm proud of being a geek, so you didn't offend me, and you're still banned, so pwned.

Oh what rubbish.

Metal Gear Solid is a game that has an audience of all ages, not just the little kiddies that you seem to think will grow out of it.

As for Splinter Cell being the more realistic stealth game. Maybe it is. This doesn't make it the better game

I'm gonna have to say it does.

Then you have very narrow criteria for what makes a good game. Personally, for me, it depends on more than utmost reaslism

Lack of silliness helps.

It's hard for me to take a game seriously, when it takes itself seriously for a minute, then you're right back to people on roller skates and giant robots.

You can have a realistic game. Splinter Cell. Ghost Recon. Rainbow Six. Or a completely over the top fun game that NEVER takes itself seriously. Conker. Armed and Dangerous. I never know if I should be laughing at the game for being so ridiculous, or if it's wanting me to take it seriously. The end result is just a mess of a game.
