I think there is enough diversity on the team already for Hal and Barry to be used without the team being too white. .
Uh, yeah, Do you?
Open casting:
If the best actor that shows up is white then Hal
If he is black then John.

Uhh.....yes. Well this is awkward, I'm going to leave this thread now...............Go Hokies!
Besides diversity, what does John Stewart add that Hal Jordan can't?Rorschach... that's SO NOT THE POINT! Diversity doesn't really enter into it in and of itself. John Stewart brings an interesting character who can add things that Hal Jordan can't. But this guy thinks it would be a waste purely because he's a black guy. WTF?!
The way you word things is really blunt but I don't disagree with what you're saying. What you're saying is the harsh reality, whether Beige Lantern wants to admit it or not.Nope. You're not a film studio. Diversity is driven by marketing. They need a token African-American character on the roster for the sake of drawing in that demographic. That was the reason John was included in the JL Mortal cast, because the rest were non-Blacks.
In this cast, we already have that quota fulfilled. I'll wager it's very, very unlikely they'll be introducing two new Black superheroes in this one film. It's unfortunate that things are this way, but that's the truth. We're getting Hal Jordan.
Besides diversity, what does John Stewart add that Hal Jordan can't?
Okay... I didn't think I would ever again have to explain the following to anyone again, but now that you're here and wish to stay - not just on SHH but any civilized group of human beings - let me break this down for you.
Seeking diversity is something you do continuously. You don't fill your quota then say "We're set! Let's go back to white dudes!" You certainly don't say "Man, we've got the perfect actor for John Stewart and what's looking like a great fit for this movie, but we already have one black guy so that won't fly." You seek diversity because it makes for a better cast and a fairer company, not out of some begrudging acquiescence to the PC crowd. You act like it would be a shame if we ended up with more minorities than the national average.
Your premise that John Stewart brings nothing to the table is challenged by the past two pages of this thread. If you have something specific they have said that you wish to counter, please offer it. Otherwise you're coming in here with blanket generic statement to make an arguably racist remark as your very first post.
How about no? Quote it. Post it. Maybe I'll respond.I think we covered this. You were there. Just jump back about 30 posts.
Agree 100 percent.Okay... I didn't think I would ever again have to explain the following to anyone again, but now that you're here and wish to stay - not just on SHH but any civilized group of human beings - let me break this down for you.

Other than diversity, I don't think John Stewart brings anything to the table that Hal Jordan doesn't.
Maybe you prefer John Stewart's personality, but his origin, supporting cast, personal villains, and acts pale in comparison to Hal.. If WB wants John Stewart to work, fine, that's awesome, he can work. Play him the way he was in Justice League TAS and combine him with Hal and THEN he will work.
I could see if Hal was interesting, but he's not
I'm pretty sure a lot of people feel this way. I certainly feel that way. Elba or Johnson only for John, because they can elevate the character in the public's eye like no other actors can IMO. They would both be perfect. I'm not a huge John Stewart fan, so the actor REALLY has to knock it out of the park, he has to be perfect, and he also has to add something to the team besides diversity. Johnson provides star power and a magnetic personality, Elba provides gravitas.only reason i would want john is if they get idris elba![]()
Just realized that X-Men DOFP had a very white cast of leads (McAvoy, Fassbender, Jackman, Lawrence, Hoult, Peters, Dinklage, Page, Stewart, McKellan), and the minorities were really cut down to cameos where they were killed over and over again in the future.
Though, no one complained about that or cared.
