Which is the time frame of the movie?

I've read that too and the Young Cyke looks like proof of that, but I've also heard that there is a portion, I don't know exacly which one, takes place between X1 and X2. IF that does exist at all, of course.

I don't think so because there were talks about a possible sequel with the Japan story, this movie must end 5-10 years before X1 or something.

I can't imagine what the reason for a scene between X1 and X2 would be. Unless it is to explain what happened to Sabretooth or maybe Stryker.
