Except that only like 2 of them sing... one raps while the other screams... and the lyrics have nothing to do with bad metaphors for romance or sex.

I really don't get all the hate on 'emo' music. Life does suck. Music is part of the therapy to overcome that. I want to scream at the top of my lungs and have a good cry because my entire family are *******es, that's my business. Music is supposed to evoke an emotional response.
Yes, but there's so many new bands that go about it, in such a contrived fashion. Half of them are just singing about this kind of stuff because it's popular and easy to cash in on depressed teenagers.

Well, I didn't subscribe to it, but I do have a few issues. My favorite, which I no longer have, was an interview with Keith Richards celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Rolling Stones, and it was fabulous. One of the best things I've ever read.

I think I have that one. A Keef interview is always good but with a guy like him, I kind of wish I could see film of the interview or hear audio because his mannerisms and such are what distinguish him...that and his playing.

He's one of the most unique figures in rock IMO. He's also one of the best guitarists ever, though I personally think Mick Taylor was the best musician that the band ever had.

I don't think that Linkin Park is one of those bands. Their lyrics do have emotional content, and its far more than 'I'm going to cut myself because I'm grounded'. There are many of us who's lives have sucked and music can help us move on. I also tend to like the instrumentals.

I love Keef... and speaking of the Stones, it still makes me laugh everytime I watch "Almost Famous" and hear "If you think Mick Jagger will be doing the rockstar thing when he's fifty, you're sadly mistaken." :D

Technically he probably was but I don't think he was the right fit for the Stones, and apparently neither did they or him, as he was only on Exile on Main Street, right? Anyway, the only person besides Keith Richards who does a better Chuck Berry is Chuck himself.

It's really the vocals that rub me the wrong way with that band. The instrumental side of the music isn't all that horrible.

I don't like it when the other guy gets too rappy... or Chester gets a little too loud and scratchy. But other than that, I like it.

Mick Taylor was on Let It Bleed, Ya-Ya's, Sticky Fingers, Exile, Goat's Head Soup and It's Only Rock N' Roll. I think he fit well with the sound the band was trying to capture at that stage in their career. And he played on so many of the classics ("Brown Sugar", "Tumbling Dice", etc.). His three minute solo on "Time Waits For No One" is ethereal.

As for Chuck Berry, I think Keith is one of the few who can do Chuck justice, but to say he's better is a bit of an overstatement, simply because Chuck was so important in the development of rock and roll.

He didn't say Keef was better than Chuck, just the opposite, that Chuck is the only one who did a better Chuck than Keef.

Oh, I misread. Yeah, Keef definitely is second to Chuck in terms of Chuckness. Though The Beach Boys were pretty good as well.

Amazing how we actually turned this thread into a good music thread.

Dude he's Hype-famous. Or infamous. Not at the level of Deathlok, Kaindamo or TW, but with a girlfriend and or concert thread, he could get there.:)

Shocking.

But then again, nothing is impossible.

damn, today's youth sucks.

OI! Haha, Linkin Park are the better of the two, but only because Foll Out Boy are wannabe emo kids but do it so bad that they turn youthful minds to mush. Luckily all the old decent stuff it easy to get a hold off

I agree, but if we cut down on oil usage the pandas could live to see another 12 Guy Fawkes nights!

Ah, okay. My mistake.

None of them. PanterA is the best band, ever.
