Would you prefer the film take place in WWII, with him possibly getting frozen at the end for a sequel? Or rather it show his origin in WWII, then eventually jumping into our time?

Sequel is not a guarantee even for Superman, so I see half WW2, half modern.

World War II through the whole thing and end it on the frozen in ice cliffhanger. Film both movies back to back like they did the original Superman's.

WWII. Have the sequel be an Avengers movie with Cap getting thawed out.

What chiefchirpa just said in regards to sequels is indeed true, however, i think Marvel should take a chance and just keep it during WW2.

Hear me out;

I think the dynamic of a "man out of time" is very cool, but in order for it to have any serious impact...in order for the audience to really FEEL for Steve Rogers and all he's lost....it has to be developed slowly. We have to see Steve's relationship with is family and girlfriend....his comraderie with Sgt. Fury and Bucky Barnes....as well as tell his origin and introduce his enemies.

I realize that superhero films set in this era tend to, well, suck, but for every Phantom and Rocketeer, there's an Indiana Jones and Road To Perdition. The key is in the casting, and the script. Like the Indiana Jones movies, Captain America should be action-packed, humorous, and clever...but serious intense, and kick-ass when it needs to be. The director needs to keep the budget low to help ENSURE a sequel is green-lighted....but then, maybe a direct sequel isnt even needed (see below).

The final scene of the movie should be Cap & Bucky jumping on their motorcycle, and riding off to stop Baron Zemo's rocket from launching towards Washington D.C.,...

The sequel should then focus on the "man out of time" stuff, with Cap getting frozen, Bucky (apparently) dying, then Cap waking up in the present. Perhaps in an Avengers movie. Scenes with Cap visiting the graves of his family and old friends...and his now elderly former lover refusing to see him, will definitely tug at the audiences heart strings...

So yeah, im definitely a proponent of them taking a cue from Sam Raimi, and developing the plot somewhat slowly, for more emotional impact.

Probably both. the first part being in WW2 and then him getting frozen and waking up nowadays. Or it could also go the way you said with him being frozen at the end but I guess that would be a higher risk for the studio...

The whole movie should be set in WWII --- that's the time that Captain America is really meant to be set in I think, and they need to show that.

Besides, setting it in WWII does two things; one, it makes Captain America's whole name/costume/etc seem less corny because of the time period, and two, it gives the movie an immediate uniqueness that seperates it from the pack.

I like this idea.

yes this would make a nice change of pace since most superoe movies are set in the modern day:spidey:

I agree, especially if they are going to do another origin movie. It would make it more interesting.

A World War II setting would be something new and fresh, but that's not gonna happen.:(

Captain America should be set in WWII.
I like CaptStacy's scenario.
Unfortunately, this will reduce the number of sequels to just one.
Unless Marvel starts working out a few deals with the SciFi Channel to develop a series based on the legend of Captain America, where you get to have a whole season or two of WWII based origin/adventure episodes to enjoy, these movies will become one or two shot deals.
Although seeing the bright red, white and blue costume jumping out of a Band of Brothers scene would be jarring to many, it would probably get it's best audience among the fans if it was on SciFi.
You would also get more character development and could explore more characters. It worked for StarGate SG-1. Who knew that that movie would make a series that would last for 7 or more seasons and spawn it's own spin-offs?
I think they'd get more mileage out of a made-for-SciFi-movie too.
Just a thought.
Thanks

Captain America
Era: World War II
Heroes: Captain America, Bucky, Nick Fury
Villains: Red Skull, Baron Zemo
Premise: Captain America's orign detailing his adventures during World War II. Set up his relationships with his friends, comrades, and family. End the movie with the explosion that kills Bucky and causes Captain America to get frozen for 60+ years

Captain America 2
Era: Modern Day
Heroes: Captain America, the Falcon, Nick Fury, USAgent, Nomad
Villains: Red Skull
Cameos: Black Widow
Premise: Avi Arad's "Man Out of Time" concept. SHIELD discovers Captain America's body for a revival of the Super-Solder Program similar to the Ultimates. See how his friends and family react to his return. Have Captain America work for SHIELD. Show how America tried to moved into the new eras post-World War II. Show Captian America's leadership capabilities.

Avengers
Heroes: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Hawkeye, Giant-Man, Wasp, Spider-Man
Villains: Chitauri
Cameos: Nick Fury, Daredevil, Black Widow, Falcon, US War Machine, Black Panther, Ant-Man (Scott Lang), Mr. Fantastic, Invisable Woman, Human Torch, the Thing, Wolverine, Storm, Beast, Shadowcat, Angel, Colossus, Iceman, Rogue
Premise: A massive Chitauri invasion captures and imprisons a majority of Earth's heroes and most leaders of SHIELD, forcing Marvel's few remaining heroes to team up

Why call it Captain America? Why not call it Man out of Time or something that isn't Captain America.

Period films & superheroes/sci-fi don't mix well. (Rocketeer, The Phantom, The Shadow, Sky Captain)
It's best to set it in the modern day.

That would only work w/a sequel.

It should be set in WWII for sure.Seeing Cap get his powers would be cool and all but actually seing him train to be the fighter and leader he is would make for an incredible film.Developing strong relationships is important, i would use Fury,Bucky and I would also like to see like Sam wilsons Grandfather as like mabye one of Caps fight instructers back in the day. Then you could introduce Sam wilson the Falcon in the second as a S.H.E.I.L.D agent.Add to the fact that WWII is a great setting for what could be the most powerful of all the Marvel origins.

Agreed!

I would want to see Cap in both times, WWII to start and then segway into the present. It's the Cap that I know, so that's what I would prefer.
