Is anyone other than hardcore Marvel fanboys going to care that Hawkeye has a cameo? He's not exactly a household name. Then again, no-one seemed to care when I told them that there was a Thor reference in Iron Man 2, so I guess it's not really out of character for Marvel.

So what do we think of the news that Hawkeye will be appearing after the Thor credits? I'm excited, if for no other reason than to possibly get a glimpse at the suit he'll wear in the Avengers.

Has it been said he will be the "after credit" cameo?

I thought its speculation that he'll be in the after credit scene. He could just be in the movie.

Has it been said by anyone credible that his appearance will be the "after credit" scene rather than a standard cameo/small part?

I hope he's not just randomly in the movie like Black Widow and Nick Fury were in Iron Man 2. Marvel needs to keep better barriers between their franchises outside of team up movies.

No, but I think it's a safe assumption. People are familiar enough with Renner that it would create a good amount of buzz to see him in the after-credits scene, even if people aren't that well-versed on Hawkeye.

Then again, who really stays after the credits for Marvel movies except nerds like us? :)

"Mr. Blake? I''m Clint... Mc...Shield...Agent... Clint McShieldagent. So, how about that Thor guy, eh?"

Are any characters in this film household names? Other than maybe Thor? Most people wouldn't care if Sif or the Warriors Three didn't show up either.

Of course the fans are the ones who are going to care.

I can't really see Hawkeye in this film. I mean what's the connection other than he uses a bow and arrows?
I'd love to see him in it, but is Coulson using Hawkeye to help catch Thor since his men were trashed by Thor and Destroyer?
Just doesn't really seem to fit.

I don't really see why there'd have to be some personal connection between him and Thor, for him to have a cameo....
from what we know of the story line so far it doesn't seem like much of a stretch, I mean, Thor's on earth, he has an encounter with shield agents, why can’t one of those agents be Hawkeye...
or like you said after there first encounter with him, seeing what there up against they call him in as one of there more skilled agents

Well as a Cameo according to the spoilers I don't see how it would work.

According to the spoilers the Bifrost bridge is destroyed with Thor on Asgard with Jane and the physics crew trying to reopen or fix the bridge at the end. If the spoiler's true where would Hawkeye fit in?

That's my question as well. I mean:

Do they want audiences to assume that Thor or Jane Foster was able to find a way to fix it before the events of the Avengers?

Or will Loki actually be the main villain of the Avengers film:doh::dry::whatever:, which results in Thor finding a way to come back to Earth due to Loki's presence there?

Well, clearly, it has to be fixed or Thor has to find some other way back to Earth. I doubt Avengers is gonna come along and be like, "Surprise! Thor's actually not in this movie at all!"

Hawkeye is a shield agent. Its rather easy for him to show up at any point in any movie.

It makes perfect sense they would use their heavy hitters to help deal with the super heroes. The heavy hitter called in to help out with Thor is Hawkeye.

I don't see the problem.

This is the ENDING CAMEO tho, and like I said above,

According to the spoilers we've heard Thor is stuck on Asgard and Bifrost is damaged so he can't get back, it'd be silly to bring Hawkeye to help get Thor at that point for that reason.
Maybe earlier on in the movie but not after the credits.

There was no cameo at the end of IM 2. It was just Coulson and Mjolnir, so they might not have an actual "cameo" at the end.

They may just show Caps shield in the ice like they showed Mjolnir, to set up Cap. Hawkeye may be the agent in charge of that expedition or he might just be in the movie like Black Widow was.

That's something that I can see but not what I mentioned in the spoiler box.
With Nick Fury not being in the Film I can see some Agent other than Coulson.

Haha, clearly someone at SHIELD underestimated Thor, overestimated Hawkeye, or both. :funny:

I agree, calling Hawkeye to deal with Thor? That would be very "one sided" to say the least.

"I'm not sure I believe in Thunder Gods!"

-Clint Barton (Avengers Annual Vol 1 #1 1967)

Until a Thunder God knocks him within an inch of his life with one punch

So do you guys think that we'll get any reference in the film as to some of the events that took place from Iron Man 2 and even Captain America?

The reason why I had asked is because, if I'm not mistaken, it should be possible that by the time Coulson reaches New Mexico, that they could have a news broadcast playing on one of the television sets for one of the characters in Thor to be watching, discussing about the events that took place at New York City (Iron Man/War Machine vs Whiplash & Hulk vs Abomination if possible).

Also, doesn't the cube that the Red Skull had possessed in World War 2 belong to Odin? So assuming if it wasn't destroyed and if someone from asgard was able to retrieve it back to Odin, would it be possible to add a line as to what went on with that?

Possibly, but I suspect they'll want to avoid really overt references like that. At some point, the references just become overbearing.

Brannagh has said there is a couple of small nods to Captain America in this one. I would guess they will likely be subtle though (like the screens in IM2 showing worldwide superhero hotspots and the news report from TIH).

Something the fans will spot but the GA could easily miss.

I completely agree. There might be a small cameo, but anything beyond that will just be subtle hints that you might not even pick up on with one viewing.

They're were quite a few subtle hints that I didn't get when I first saw Iron Man, TIH, & Iron Man 2.
