Given on how many times that I've seen this topic brought up in several threads, I thought it finally deserved its own.

Now, it appears as though a lot of people have their own preference/idea of who they believe (or want) is going to appear in this film that will provide the proverbial "physical" threat for the DC Trinity to unite under one banner and take it down.

The only question here is who do you guys prefer the most, from the choices mentioned below, to be used as the Final Villain for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice"?

LEX LUTHOR

Or is there another character that you guys would prefer that isn't one of the three listed above?

I want Metallo AND Luthor. But I voted Metallo.

“I remember talking about ‘What’s the next villain? We can’t do another alien invasion.’ Brainiac was definitely down the road. Metallo, I think, was going to be the main bad guy of this movie.”

Scoot McNairy said:
"It’s definitely 100% a character I’ve never played and I can’t speak too freely on it, but yeah, getting into that thing was definitely something I had to wrap my head around emotionally in order to play that character. But with that being said, I had a lot of fun doing it when I was in the process of shooting on it — my head was in a different place but I’m really excited to see how it turns out and what they do with it and see the film."

Doomsday

I believe the villain being stronger than the hero will always be better entertainment. Superman is accused by many of "being too powerful". So Doomsday should be shown as an extremely powerful creature and more than what Superman can handle. Eventually, Doomsday is beaten by the combined forces of Superman, Batman and maybe even a little assist from Wonder Woman.

I would love to say Doomsday but I just don't think it will be him. He's too big of a villain in my eyes and I think they will save him for the Justice League films.

Vandal Savage. Oldest man on Earth, immortal. Easier to pull off since he wouldn't need CG, and also saves Doomsday and Darkseid for the JLA movies.

It's all about Metallo. As others have mentioned, he serves so many functions:

Metallo would be man vs god, not monster vs god like doomsday.
He would help establish Cyborg.
He could serve as a reminder of the devastation of MOS
He introduces how dangerous Kryptonite is.
He establishes how technology has advanced since alien tech came to earth

And more benefits that I'm sure I'm not thinking of. Doomsday does nothing but limit the potential of future films, by opening up with all the fireworks. Bringing in Superman's most powerful foe (arguably) in the second film, is shortsighted in my mind.

Now I guess Parasite or Bizarro would also be workable options. No matter what it is, it seems logical that the physical villain would be a creation of Luthor.

Anyone but Doomsday.

Doomsday, I think both Mettallo, Parasite and Bizarro deserve full story arcs. Lex in a power suit even with robots to me seems a lame reason for the JL to team up. Doomsday was created in the comics to simply be a one off monster that Superman fights, they later decided he would kill Superman. I think he works best as a villain in this way, have him be the reason for something big, in this case the reason that Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman team up. He doesn't need a major backstory, he simply is a plot device, one that can work really well in this instance.

Guys like Darkseid, Mongul, Brainiac etc are to big to even be considered but a one note villain like Doomsday is a perfect catalyst.

Reading the quotes OP put there it might be that Scott is Metallo. I wouldn't doubt he goes through some experimentation carried out by Lex.

On the other hand I wouldn't mind if it were Doomsday. However, there is no indication of that so far.

Doomsday is such a bland non-character that I really hope he doesn't appear. Yes, they could have him kill Superman - but then he wouldn't stay dead, and everybody knows he wouldn't stay dead. If they had Metallo then he would mesh with the story elements we know are going to be there better, and Parasite could introduce an interesting dynamic beyond 'they punch each other, stuff breaks' that happened in MOS and would inevitably happen with Doomsday.

Scott Eastwood is playing Metallo? :cwink:

Actually, that could happen. If Metallo isn't in BvS but WB wants to plant some seeds for the future, Eastwood's character in Suicide Squad might be Sgt. John Corben.

I was talking with a friend and mentioned that I'd be so excited if the threat ended up being Cyborg Superman. I know that's a big stretch and I mainly threw it out there because I enjoy the character in the comics so much.

Someone here mentioned potentially an army of Metallo robots which could pose a major threat. It would be great if we never really find out until the movie is released. I enjoy the speculation and not knowing exactly who it is.

Yeah, the Cyborg Superman is a possibility. Although that character is actually Hank Henshaw, who is appearing in the Supergirl show so they likely won't use him. Which would mean that if they do use the Cyborg Superman, it would probably be a major reinvention of the character. Maybe a Cyborg/Metallo hybrid?

All of this.

None of this explains the massive laser beams fired at Batman during the TDKR grapple away scene from the trailer.

If Doomsday is made from Kryptonian DNA then he might have heat vision.

No, Scoot McNairy.:cwink:

Wrong spelling by me

This is what I'm thinking, there's no way it's form Supes... I'm just wondering why he wouldn't suit up to help fight him? The scene where Superman is kind of "winding up" with his heat vision is definitely at Wonder Woman or at Doomsday.

That seems like overkill haha, but you could be right. Doomsday is already kind of in the top 3 of most powerful Supes villains normally, giving him some of the Kryptonian powers seems like it puts him almost on Darkseid's level. I guess it's one way they can have a Darkseid-ish villain without having to play that card.

The only thing confusing me slightly is McNairy's quotes sound like they're pointing to Metallo, but the trailer and lack of Mulvey's character being shown indicate Doomsday/Bizarro. I'm starting to wonder if both aren't in the movie?

Metallo could be a first attempt to knock off Supes, and when it doesn't work Lex goes bananas and creates Doomsday?

Is it going to end up being Supes+Bats+WW Vs. Lex+Doomsday+Metallo?

Edit: The other option I suppose is an original/fringe character? If I had to throw out a guess as to a known but infrequently used character I'd probably go with:

My vote goes to Sharknado.

Frankly, no one fits as well as Doomsday. The film is stuffed with characters, three of which are superheroes with no physical threat to fight. Doomsday fills that quota without adding to the aforementioned stuffed-ness. Basic film math.

I just hope the critics don't take a s*** on the movie for being "overstuffed". That would be so annoying... Seems like a lame excuse to hate on another CBM.
