At this point we've had 3(4) composers. Danny Elfman (SM1-SM2), Christopher Young (SM3), James Horner (TASM), Hans Zimmer and the Magnificent 6 (TASM2).

Here's a refresher of their each of their most memorable contributions-

Danny Elfman:[YT]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qcJS_e2_hY[/YT]

Christopher Young:[YT]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKnXfQV8S94[/YT]

James Horner: [YT]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utUDVyGfLDc[/YT]

Hans Zimmer: [YT]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxygfeNo1mI[/YT]

Honestly I have to give it to Elfman here. While I love the mellow drama of James Horner's score that gave TASM a deeper level of realism, in my opinion it just doesn't work as well as Elfman's. His main theme captured both the sense of personal tragedy Peter Parker lives, as well as the sense of adventure we've come to see from Spider-Man.

I think each composer captured the mood of the films, for me it's a massive choice between Horner and Elfman. They both do what they intended to well, but it's the homey vibe of horners that I really like, so my list is;

Horner (homey home)
Elfman (patriotic superhero score!)
Zimmer (the weirdest soundtrack you'll ever hear but it's quite unique)
Young (not very creative)

I really liked Horner's score myself.

Elfman is classic and nostalgic.
Young only had Spider-Man 3 and from my recollection, it wasn't all that memorable.
Horner was hit and miss for me, with the biggest hit being "Saving New York" (gives me chills) and the biggest miss being the score that was in the basketball scene in TASM.
Zimmer was awesome.

I'd say it's a toss up between Zimmer and Elfman.

A mix of all four would make the perfect Spidey theme

Either SM2 or Christopher Young's SM3 score. Criminally underrated score, honestly.

This is exactly how I feel, especially about the basketball scene

Zimmer, with Elfman at second. "My Enemy" is my favorite of the villain themes.

They shot at me
They hate on me
They're dead to me
And now they're all my enemy

Spider-Man vs. Electro in Times Square is the best fight in a Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man vs. Doctor Octopus on top of the train.

And, goddamit, Jamie Foxx's Electro was the best on screen Spidey villain since Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus. He didn't surpass Molina, but after four decent-to-bad ones, he was a breath of fresh air.

He was simple and they kept him simple. They established he was a nut, and that was the end of it.

I wish we could've had just him as the only villain in the movie (though you could argue he was, anyway), with Harry-Goblin saved for the third TASM film.

Oh well.

Yeah, Electro really was the only villain up until the very end. The flaws with him weren't nearly as glaring as the ones with New Goblin, Sandman, Venom or even Lizard. There wasn't any stupid retcon or convoluted storyline needlessly connecting him to Peter. He was a crazy loner with a chip on his shoulder, pure and simple. "My Enemy" suited him perfectly, the pulsating electronics and chanting just really nailed what the character was going through.

All of this.

Danny Elfman is best. Then James Horner. Hans Zimmer very last. It was Zimmer's worst score of his career and worst score for a Spidey movie.

Haha, love Ya dock Ock. You'd hate a puppy if it was related to TASM2

I like Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, and Andrew Garfield, and they are all related to TASM 2. I like Hans Zimmer too. His score was still terrible for this movie. He is a good composer usually.

Elfman all the way. Those opening string-y (spider webby) notes over the Columbia logo say soooo much about the character's essence and themes. I gives goosebumps to hear.

I think Zimmer's is pretty underrated, though. I've heard the argument that it's a bit too Superman-ish, and I get what they mean. I just don't see why that's a problem. Underneath the whole spider-mutant thing, Spider-Man is unambiguously a classic hero at heart. He dresses up in a colorful costume and goes out to save people, that's as naively and unabashedly heroic as it gets. Zimmer's theme addresses that... while also throwing an awesome electronic/modern/youthful vibe in there. That was a genuinely new (while also very appropriate) approach for the character. I think it's brilliant.

I barely count Christopher Yost's as its own thing, tbh, and I think Horner's was fine, but nothing to write home about.

I didn't really care for ASM2's soundtrack, it sounded weird IMO.
