Who here thinks THE FLASH cannot support his own movie?

I think the problem is with the WB studio PTB....they just don't care about spending a bunch of money to adapt things when they can spend a lot less, make girlie movies and bad comedies and make money that way....no one in WB gives a ****, basically

WB probably wouldn't consider it a wise long term investment and the movie going audience, at large, would get bored .....

I'd say have Wally...do what they did in 'Incredible Hulk' and have an overview of The Flash as protector of Keystone, acknowledge Barry and let Wally take the film from there....a 5 minute opening sequence could do the job

LOL

Why not just do barry? If they have Barry, they don't need Wally.

They could use Wally later on, too.

Save him for the sequels as Kid Flash.

Once he's established give him a new trilogy which begins with Barry's murder.

Barry wasn't murdered....he distentegrated during Crisis on Infinite Earths....

EXACTLY! :applaud:up::up:

(I know what you mean by murder)

Barry first is the smart way to go! :D

They could make him be murdered in the movies.

Captain Cold, Mirror Master, a toned down version of Anti-Monitor. Plenty of suspects to chose from to pull the trigger.

So we're just changing canon now are we??? Part of the reason why Barry is so revered is that he sacrificed himself to save everyone else.....

Things are always altered in adaptions. Do you seriously think a Flash movie is going to show every single panel of Infinite Crisis? :D

No...I honestly feel if a Flash film is done, Wally West will be the star and there will be an acknowledgement of Barry Allen in there somewhere...

Well, they could just have Barry die in a JLA movie saving the universe. Assuming they're serious about the shared universe aspect.

That was the original plan in Miller's JL.

Here's what I say - if people are really tired of one Flash and want another (remember, Barry was "killed" because DC didn't know what to do with him and creative geniuses like Geoff johns weren't employed yet), and I don't think they will so what's the point anyway.... but if they do, and they're gonna do a final fate of the flash story I suggest somethig like this:

Do a condensed Crisis story with Anti Monitor after Flash 2 or 3 (after Barry has discovered the multiverse, met Jay Garrick, et al) in a 2nd or 3dr JLA film and have it end with Barry's "death" and have Wally take over in Flash 4 or something, probably the start of a new trilogy a few years later (like the Spider-Man films). Smart way to do Crisis without pissing off everyone. :)

True.

Personally, I'd prefer to be more Flash centric and more of a one shot story. It's the perfect coming of age story for Wally and doesn't have the possibility of people being confused or not getting the whole story IMO.

Your idea could work very well only it would rely on a lot of people on multiple films getting their stories straight and it would take a long time to pull off.

So many things could go wrong. :(

It would be interesting to see WB pull off, though.

That wouldn't make sense tho. They're doing GL Hal and GA Ollie in their solo films, possibly leading into JLA, why wouldn't they do Barry Flash and have Flash lead into JLA as well? Especially if JLA is an origin story. Barry suggested naming the team "Justice League of America", they couldn't do a JLA origin film without him. (he first suggested naming it the "Avengers" but GL (Hal) shot him down about it and said that folks would confuse them with the 60s tv show characters, Emma Peel and so on lol)

Thanks. And i'd want it to be very Flash centric too of course. But you're right, it's a lot to ask for. :woot:

Reading Perez and Rucka's WW should be mandatory reading for any screenwriter who writes WW or her mythos.

Now that, I agree with. My problem with Whedon was that he disregarded her mythos. And until articles like the one I posted came out, I was number 1 in defending him on WW. I thought that someone who wrote such strong women, and Firefly and Serenity (which I love), would be the perfect person to write a WW screenplay. But comments like the ones he made were clear that he either didn't read her comics, or disregarded them in favor of his own stories.

Agreed.

:woot: See? That wasn't so hard! And now back to The Flash. I love both Barry Allen and Wally West, so it doesn't matter who, just give me a Flash movie, darn it.

(And please, Santa, a WW movie too.)

He left because no one at WB cared enough to listen to what he was doing...I look at any DC adaptation from a grown ups prespective...the chances of 1 Flash film are slim enough, much less a trilogy or on-going franchise......

What are you trying to say?

:bh:

I'm saying that from a purely financial standpoint.....it's a much safer way to make money....
