hey all,

I know that the Wolverine solo movie is going forward, and that Jackman will continue to play the lead.

I agree that Jackman has the "look" of Wolverine......and I think that he's done a fine job portraying him in the X-movies.

However, imo, Jackman lacks the one quality that makes Wolverine such a unique character...........Jackman's too tall!!!

In a society where the typical male superhero is tall......Wolverine has always stood out to me because he was SHORT!!

Also, because I am a short male myself. I'm 5'3", just like the Wolverine in the comics.

I know that it's too late to change the actor portraying Wolvie in the movies.

But, if you had a choice, would you prefer a shorter actor to portray Wolverine?

I would like to see a shorter Wolverine, but not as short as his "official" height. At times, they don't even draw him that short in the books. I wouldn't mind Wolverine being as tall as everyone else (or a little shorter), but I don't like it when they shoot him towering over everyone else, as someone of Jackman's stature tends to do. It's just not right.

I would like to see it too, but Jackman seems to be a basis for the film version. It's been well established. Maybe if they were ever to revamp in the far future would I want to see it.

I'm 5'4" but hard for me to picture someone as savage as Logan at 5'3" doing any real damage. He can be a bit taller, probably in the 5'3"-5'7" range.

I can't come up with an actor that short that has that Logan look. I'm probably not thinking hard enough.

Not seriously, but I think it would be hilarious if in the movie Wolverine is at first protrayed as being short but during the adamantium bonding process Stryker has Wolverine's legs broken and makes him taller.

That sounds less funny when I say it out loud.

i guess another option would be to use "camera angles" to make the Wolverine actor "look" shorter than the other actors.

Ive never liked the idea of a short wolverine, Hugh Jackman is perfect.

I'm not at all hung up on height when it comes to actor's portraying Wolverine, but I'm not really opposed to the idea either. Indifferent.

But Jackman is alright by me.

It would be nice for something in the future when Hugh Jackman is finished and has moved on for the role, but right Jackman's doing a fine job despite his height and I wouldn't replace him if I could.

I think they could pull ot off, bcuz I'd love to see a shorter wolverine, I mean Singer did it in X1 IDK Y he stopped?

Hey, I already know I would love a short Wolverine. But what can ya do? Apparantly Wolverine's are tall now.

But hey, I said it before, I'll say it again, a 5'9 1/2 Robert Knepper jacked up on steroids.

Yes, but I don't care much at all. I'd like to see a 5'7-ish Wolverine, but if the guy playing him is always 6' or taller, doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Being short is a fairly big part of what makes Wolverine the guy he is. Not liking a short Wolverine is like not liking a smart Batman.

i don't think Jackman is the perfect choice. I always thought Jason Statham would be the perfect Wolvie. He looks more like him.

IMDB has Statham listed as 5' 8½"
Marvel List Wolvie to be 5' 3.
Jackman is 6' 2½"
Is closer in size.

To me Statham would pull off that Wolverine Burly attitude better then Jackman. Jackman is by far the better actor, but for Wolverine........? An action movie does not need Oscar performances. If I had the ability to cast Wolverine all those years ago for X-Men 1, Statham would get the call.

5'8-9ish ain't bad
but, i'll do'ya one better

Scott Caan
IMDB listed as 5' 5"

I mean, look at him next to Walker (who's about the same hieght as Jackman)

short and buff, even kinda hairy

if there's ever a remake, reboot, new version, or whatever, he's got my vote

Scott Caan would not be a bad choice I have to admit. I think Jason Statham is a bit too pretty for Wolverine. Paul Walker is slated to play Capt. America. I'm surprised to hear Caan is only 5'5 - that's even shorter than Tom Cruise.

Caan's too much of a prettyboy. Hell, I'd prefer him play someone like Havoc. Statham however is perfect. Gotta remember, Logan is pretty much the creepy janitor with a past in the school.

Size doesn't matter...heh.

Seriously, I wouldn't mind seeing a short Wolverine one day.

I would hardly call Caan a "prettyboy" but, what floats your boat
I am sure he's considered good looking, but, in more of a rugged, gritty kinda way

to each his own, i guess

Growing a beard doesn't make you rugged by default. :oldrazz: I've seen his movies and I can't shake the thought of him being basically this fratboy. I can see him play Gambit easily enough. He's rugged enough for that character but too pretty for Wolverine.

Jason Statham would play a fun Logan to see.

But height doesn't bother me at all. Jackman made a hell of a good job on Wolverine.

I agree with the Shredder- as long as the makers of the film do their best to make Wolverine Movie(s) a Kick-A** film then I for one will be more then happy. It does that seem Hugh Jackman is taking this project very seriously.Even beyond the point of him just playing Logan/James/Wolverine.Of course we the fans will have to wait to see the movie to find out how good it will be.
I find it unique that an actor who is in this position will go all out to give to make a project stand up to it's source material!

I agree with this. I've always pictured wolverine at 5'7" To me, that's not too short to where he would look funny, but still short.

Also, they could have easily made Hugh look shorter, if they could make people seem two feet shorter then they actually were in LOTR, I'm sure they could have made Jackman look like he lost a few inches.

Really? Something like a pit bull could easily rip any person to shreds, and they certainly aren't particularly tall.

That said, his brutal nature despite his size is kind of the whole idea behind his character. Why do you think he's called "Wolverine?"

"The wolverine is, like most mustelids, remarkably strong for its size, and is considered one of the most ferocious of that family. It has been known to kill prey as large as moose...

Armed with powerful jaws and a thick hide, wolverines may defend kills against larger or more numerous predators. There is at least one published account of a 27-pound wolverine's attempt to steal a kill from a much larger predator—namely, a black bear (adult males weigh 400 to 500 pounds)."
