Where are all the clone theories coming from? It's so out of left field.

I came up with it while thinking about how Jay's cells were degenerating.

Yeah I don't like the idea of clones at this point. However, considering there's a possibility there are at least three Jay's, it's not TOTALLY far out imo.

We have already had the surprise reveal of Zoom being Jay so don't think they will repeat the reveal of the Man in the Iron Mask being the same character there would be no wow factor to it.

Has to be someone like Eddie being held captive for information on E1.

I know the person is wearing the mask because the showrunners don't want us the audience to know his identity yet, but there has to be a plausible reason why Zoom, within the context of the show, is keeping him masked, and why he cannot talk. I too believe it's Eddie, but i also like the idea that the reason he's masked is so he can't phase through the glass like Barry and Zoom did a few eps back, so it's possible he's a speedster…

I'm hoping the whole Zoom/Jay thing is a multiverse traversal thing. Like Zoom is Jay from Earth 3 or another number, and that maybe metal mask is another version of Jay.

Or. It's a twin thing. Jay said he couldn't find a Jay Garrick on Earth-1. But did find "Hunter Zoloman". Perhaps Metal Mask is Jay from E1. And Zoom is Zoloman from E2.

Or, Zoom is Jay from the future of Earth 2. Which is why he said "well, this complicates things" when he would have essentially murdered himself...

Earth 3 was introduced from the Supergirl/Flash crossover so it's a possibility. We need to see more of Zoom to know for sure.

These are my primary theories as to everyone's identities, though there are a number of possible ways they could go with this (clones, Earth-3, Johnny Chambers/Quick, Edward Clariss, etc.), depending on how much they want to reference the comics.

Man in the Iron Mask - Earth-2 Jay Garrick: Captured and imprisoned by Zoom. Forced to wear a mask to conceal his identity.

Zoom - Earth-2 Hunter Zolomon: Jay's identical twin, adopted and raised by the Zolomons.

Jay Garrick (dead) - Earth-1 Hunter Zolomon/Jay Garrick: Working for/with Zoom. Powerless unless taking Velocity N. He and Zoom switch off posing as Jay in STAR Labs.

No he does not, which makes sense that Jay and Zoom were one person at one time aka Hunter Zolomon. My theory is that Zolomon was experimenting with V9 during the particle accelerator explosion and the incident resulted in split bodies and personalities, both with speedster abilities. The MTIM is Eddie Thawne aka Colbalt Blue. Zoom is keeping Colbalt Blue captive to use his powers to steal speed and keep himself alive.

I'm pretty sold that the man in the iron mask is going to be Henry Allen. Or 'the real' Jay Garrick who is Henry Allen's actor.

A third/fourth 'Jay' would be anti climatic.

Barry's dad being absent from so much of the series is also anti-climatic.

I don't know how they'd explain it, get to that point, but I do know I'll be pretty disappointed if it isn't someone cooler than Teddy whatever his name is under that mask.

Here's my logic, and I'm afraid the writers weren't thinking this far ahead but oh well.

There has to be a reason that the singularity opened breaches between THESE TWO specific earths. We know there are at least 3 (Earth-1, Earth-2, Supergirl Earth), and logically we can infer that there are somewhere between 52 and infinity. Yet the singularity opened breaches between two specific earths, and there has to be a reason.

My theory? The timeline needed AN Eddie Thawne to send to Earth-1 to sire his offspring and eventually create Eobard Thawne to solve the time paradox. It also needed to maintain the timeline of whatever Earth THAT Eddie Thawne was from, i.e, it needed an Eddie Thawne who had already had the children that would eventually lead to that universe's Eobard. On Earth-2, Iris is married to Barry, so she doesn't exist to distract that Eddie from the woman who eventually has children. He meets her and marries her earlier in Earth-2, and by the time the singularity opens the breaches, he has already sired Eobard's ancestor. So from the perspective of the timeline, he was expendable. It opened a hole between Earth-1 and Earth-2 with the expectation that eventually, that Eddie would end up on the right Earth to eventually lead to to Eobard.

Somehow, Zoom learns of Eddie's importance. He therefore kidnaps Eddie as insurance. If he can't beat Barry to steal his speed, he can say "I have the key to fixing the entire timeline, if I kill him, there's another singularity, and you don't have a Firestorm to close it this time."

Also relevant: Earth-1 Eddie is a police officer. It's therefore not a stretch to assume Earth-2 Eddie has a similar personality and pursued a similar career. In this case: military. That's how he knew the code to tap in his cell. No other Flash character seems like a logical fit to know military code except for possibly one of the geniuses just out of their own curiosity, but we've seen Wells/Cisco/Caitlyn/Barry/Ronnie so they're all eliminated.

And of course, just a random tidbit, it's possible that Zoom somehow learned of Eobard Thawne's identity as the Reverse Flash, and therefore might have found it prudent to check out someone from his bloodline to see if there were any traces of the speed force in his system he could use to cure himself. I don't think it's a sure thing or necessary for this theory, but hey, doesn't hurt.

And why is he wearing the Iron Mask? Because he always expected to kidnap Barry (why else would he have the third cell?), and when that happened he didn't want Barry to have a familiar face to plan an escape with.

I don't know that all of these details will pan out, but that is my overall theory. I think the man in the Iron Mask is Eddie-2.

I like your theory. I also think it's Eddie. I got to this a little simpler, though. As you mentioned, that list of people have already been eliminated so, they either go with Eddie or introduce someone new. And, having just down Eddie on last week's episode, lends credence to that idea.

Of course, Wally is another option but, they man in the mask didn't appear to be black.

In the original timeline, Earth-1 Eddie was Earth-1 Eobard's ancestor. But by killing himself, he created a time paradox. The timeline had to correct it. There's not a particularly good way of explaining my way of understanding this other than saying that the pre- and post-singularity timelines operate under very different rules. The pre-singularity timeline was intact while the post-singularity timeline wasn't, so before the singularity occurred Eddie-1 WAS Eobard-1's ancestor and after the singularity he wasn't, but because he was before the singularity he still manages to erase that Eobard from existence. Hard to explain, I know.

Do a search on Keiynan Lonsdale, look at his hands in some of the photos and they look just like the hands of the man in the mask.

I'm throwing my theory behind the man in the mask being Earth 2 Wally West.

All we know for certain, is it -has- to be someone we know. Otherwise there's no point in putting the character in an iron mask. So it wont be a new character introduced unless it's a new character using an actor we know.

Based on his size and build, and the back of his neck/hairline, I'm banking on it being either Jay or Eddie.
