I'd give him a quick death lightsaber through the heart

I'm glad this off-screen death thing won't happen.

Would you rather see Luke die on screen ? I feel like I'm too attached to the character to see him die on screen it would be like Optimus Prime's original death in Transformers the movie in the 1980's.I don't know about any of you his final battle with megaton was legendary but seeing him die had seven year old me ballin my eyes out.

Yes, I actually would. Having people die off-screen is a disservice when you have an alternative. Hagen in Godfather III comes to mind. Only Rocky Balboa handled it well, because Andrian's death drove the character of Rocky.

The fact that you felt so much during Optimus' death scene is exactly the reason why I'd rather have characters die onscreen: Emotion (also the main reason I watch movies).

Exactly. If the only reason to have the death off screen is because you're afraid of being upset...well that's the best reason ever to have it on screen. Glossing over the death of a character as iconic as Luke Skywalker would be more upsetting than the death itself.

I don't mind Luke dying, but i just hope he does so peacefully, i don't want him to die just to hype a new threat, that would suck. I think he should die peacefully while the two suns set in Tatoine

Since I don't think Hamil is coming back I think he's dying off screen.

Is Yoda the only Jedi that dies at peace & not killed ? Seems like everyone else dies in a crappy way

That could be pretty darn beautiful if done right. I can hear Williams' score playing as it happens :waa:

Luke should die a peaceful man, with his family around him. That is what the greatest of heroes deserves.

Yup, yup and yup, to the last 3 posts. Been wanting this since Ep7 was announced.

I think some of you are going to be very disappointed when he doesn't die....

The thread was only made so because the OP is an EU fan who thought there would there would more of an EU influence than there actually will be in the movies.

What is this obsession with the return of Sidious? Jeez.

I would loosely follow the EU; shifting the timing of certain events, but I would totally ignore things like the Vong.

I would keep Jacen and Jaina Solo but give Anakin the axe. Leia would be the Queen of the new empire-- she was always an authoritarian monarch; and Han would be wandering the galaxy in the Falcon.

I would have Darth Caedus being trained by Plagueis-- which would be a divergence from the books where he is trained by some Sith lord that never existed in the film continuity.

Leia was an authoritarian monarch? Have you been reading an issue of Infinities or Tales that I've missed?

She was princess of Alderaan (and if you choose to accept the prequels as ever happening, the daughter of the queen of Naboo).

Queen = empress

This is the character flaw of the Rebel Alliance-- that they are not promoting democracy.

But wasn't she a princess of ONE planet that got destroyed? She's not officially royalty anymore unless they created a new mandate for her.

The daughter of the queen of Naboo who never met her mom and who never exercised that title at all.

Also, it's clear that a princess on Alderaan is nothing but a title. Bail was the leader of the planet and apparently a pretty democratic figure. The royalty titles seem more decorative to me than you make them sound.

And Leia wasn't even the leader of the Rebel Alliance. Mon Mothma was clearly above her in RotJ, and she was no queen/empress/princess.

So yeah, Leia is quite the opposite of authoritarian (always a negative term).
