  • Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man

  • Screw them both...Ron Perlman as Hellboy!

Although I liked Bale's Bruce, Downey's Stark was a lot truer to the comics.

Should've been an ALL OF THE ABOVE option.

Seriously, they all owned.

Like I said in a previous post, the point is to see which people liked more. I think most people would have taken the easy choice in "all of the above" and that would've undermined the entire point of the question.

I would say out of the new breed Routh did better then both of them but out of the two I would say RDJ was the better one.

I think RDJ had an easier time acting in a suit of armor than Bale did in the rubber suit. Bale had to change his voice, his movements, his mannerims to completely throw off any suspicion he was Batman. RDJ didn't need to cause you can't tell who's in the Iron Man suit.

RDJ was the better performance as Stark, but Bale seemed to work harder, that's why he gets my vote.

Interesting. I actually really like the male leading casting for most of the Superhero movies of late, especially Routh, Jackman, Bale, Downey, and Perlman. I think they all rock.

Both were great, but I prefer Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

I liked Bale's Batman, but RDJ totally was Tony Stark in my mind. To me it wasn't his version of the character it was the character (though I'll readily admit I never read Iron Man that often).

Bale and Downey Jr. made amazing jobs with the role they had (none of them were perfect representations of the characters), but Perlman WAS Hellboy

a "both" or "all of the above" option should be mandatory in polls...

That would undermine the point of the poll. I don't see how it would have been useful for me to have given everybody the easy cop out with a "both" or "all of the above" option given the fact that I want to see who people liked the most.

bale is a great actor, but he just kind of floated through the role, in my opinion... it seems like just about anyone else could have done what he did, given nolan's direction.

downey was simply iron man and tony stark, though... no one else could have done what he did.

Bale (and the filmakers, for that matter) had the full weight of four previous movies weighing on them. Considering all those obstacles, I believe Bale did an excellent job as Wayne/ Batman.
Downey is just as good as Stark/ Iron-Man. The difference is the obstacles. The general public are not as familiar with Iron-Man as Batman (This is fact)

A little off topic- I believe most people on the HYPE are excited about Iron-Man not so much for the movie itself, but where it's going. And all this "Iron-Man will rule and outgross "The Dark Knight" is a bit... well, stupid really.

...just an aside.

Really? Now why is that?

Well, it does when compared to Batman I guess.

But in the long run, it doesnt. Who was Indiana Jones before Raiders? Dirty Harry before his movie? Every character that appeared in an original movie that came before Iron Man? Past knowledge means little unless its the movies only upside. I didnt read LOTR but I saw the movies. Never even heard of it before the movies.

Plus I dont see a connection to the performances in general

Both are male leads in a high-profile role, in high-profile films, that are adapted from comics, and are part of films that are highly contested against one another on these forums as being the best comic book film ever made, kind of thing. That seems like a connection to me.

Plus, I just want to know. :yay:

I meant a connection between performance and previous knowledge of character since success of either films may considering the popularity of Batman over Iron Man

Downey owned the role more. but bale is a close second

BB was slightly better than IM, but RDJ was better than Bale.
