Surtur, as the primary, with Enchantress as the secondary. Keep Loki in riding the moral grey.

Definitely Want Surtur and Enchantress and The Executioner! I don't know how Loki will fit in.

C'mon... :whatever:

Gotta be Surtur.

Only reason it wouldnt/shouldnt be Surtur is if they want to do an Iron Man 3 and build him up for Thor 4. In which case it should be Enchantress.

But no, gotta be Surtur.

So basically Enchantress gets shafted again, oh joy.

I think Surtur should definitely be the big bad of the film, and he should initially appear as a menacing, mysterious threat lurking in the shadows for the first half of the movie. During the movie's first half, Thor can deal with Loki's usurpation of Asgard while Surtur is secretly forging his magic sword to burn down the Nine Worlds.

Then, in the movie's second half, Surtur can emerge as the ultimate threat to Asgard, forcing Thor, Loki and Odin to put aside their differences and unite against him.

Also, the Enchantress should appear in the movie as a secondary villain helping Loki in the first half of the movie. Loki presumably needs a few trusted lieutenants to help him consolidate his control over Asgard, so Enchantress can be one of his helpers. Then in the second half, Enchantress can unite with the other Asgardians to fight Surtur and his fire demons.

See... This is part of the shame of TDW. Surtur should have been a behind the scenes villain in that so as to build him up. We needed the DOOM! DOOM! forging of the Twilight Sword... Damn... That movie still ranks as an utter disappointment even now.

Since it's Ragnarok it's gotta be Surtur but no reason numerous other villains can't appear.

This is sooo off topic but I follow you on Twitter 'cause you added me ages ago LOL.

Glad to see you're a Thor fan!

It's been said already (and anyone who has clicked the links in my sig knows my hopes for Thor 3 already), but I definitely feel that Surtur should be the big bad, and the Enchantress and Executioner should be collaborators with Loki.

Totally agree with the bold. The problem is that no one really seemed to have an idea of where the Thor franchise should go, so these seeds weren't planted earlier on.

HOWEVER, as I type this I just had a thought: what if we got some development of Surtur in a few films before Thor 3? Maybe after the credits in something. Maybe GOTG2 mentions a whole race being destroyed (Korbinites) by some cataclysmic cosmic event. I dunno, but with such an ever-growing, ever-connected universe, maybe it's not too late to set something up so the threat seems grander.

I have a feeling we mightnot see surtur here. but instead, he'd be a part of the infinity wars in a struggle of power vs Thanos and team avengers, especially if the IW is two parts.

I think that can salvage his epicness and leave room for a midgard serpent, Enchantress story vs Thor.

The second one really should have been Enchantress. The thing is Ragnarok is about the end of the 9 realms, but Malekith was also trying to achieve a similar goal. So it isn't as if the stakes have upped that much in terms of the end game.

Not only that but Malekith attacked Asgard, which again should be a key part in Ragnarok. Of course Surtur is the ultimate foe, and hopefully there will be a massive battle between Asgardian warriors and the Fire demons, akin to Return of the King. But a lot of people might feel it is roughly the same basic plot again.

I will be extremely disappointed if that happens. I've wanted Enchantress to appear in these films ever since it was being speculated on who would appear in the first Thor.

Inter-Asgardian strife (i.e., with people like the Enchantress) is eventually what I think should be Thor. But, for this storyline, Surtur just makes the most sense.

The problem I think with the Enchantress being thrown into the mix might be the simple fact that they've yet to make the the Thor/Jane/Sif thing compelling (mostly due to shafting Alexander's character) so now adding another female with designs on Thor will feel like overkill. I want Amora. Hell, any story they could have come up with to showcase the Enchantress and Skurge would have to have been better than TDW. But they fumbled with the love triangle they already got in play. I think a story with the Enchantress could still have had the elements that lead into Thanos and the other cosmic stuff.

If they could put Eva Green in as Hela I'd be thrilled.

Enchantress needs to be in this. She's more known than Malekith as well.

Surtur though I would love to see Charlize Theron or Eva Green as Enchantress. It's about time. Make it happen, Marvel.

Except this has nothing to do with the plot of TDW

Hmm... Yeah... Or maybe it's obvious that I wanted another plot as the sequel of to the first Thor film than what we got? OR... Maybe the time put into Jane's sad sack date, Selvig running around naked and being in an asylum and Darcy, being DARCY, could have been put towards a Surtur subplot? Hmm? MAYBE?

I think Surtur is *too* obvious, whereas actually he makes no sense at all for this film.

Surtur is more than just "omg Big Bad Final Boss Battle FIGHT." Surtur's fate is specifically tied to Odin, not Thor. For better or worse, TDW wiped Odin out of the equation, and Anthony Hopkins has indicated in interviews that he won't be back. With Odin out, Surtur is out.

If "Ragnarok" truly means THE End of the World scenario, then the Midgard Serpent is THE obvious answer, since Jormungandr is the one specifically tied to Thor's fate. Both in the comics and in Norse mythology.

Surtur, as the primary, with Enchantress as the secondary. Keep Loki in riding the moral grey.

That's pretty much what I'd want. Enchantress, due to her primary motivations, is a bit too weak a character to be a main villain, in my opinion. She can be responsible for releasing Surtur, setting up the climax, with Executioner and his epic death thrown in for good measure.

Surtur and The Midgard Serpent please.

Just imagine the fight scenes...

:hubba

Would love to see the Enchantress too, not sure where she could fit though.

I'm not certain that Odin is necessarily out of the picture. Would Loki kill his old man, or even have the power to do so?

Back in the 70's Odin exiled himself in order to teach himself the lesson in humility he tried to impart upon his son. He put himself under an amnesiac spell, and found himself working as a ranch hand named "Orrin". the All Father blended in wonderfully - until he swatted away a runaway truck.

I think Odin is out there somewhere, either under a spell of his own making or one imposed upon him by Loki. Sir Anthony may be up for another go if they take away his ornamental headpiece and put him in overalls.
