So how do you pull off Surtur visually?
It is hard to make giant versus regular size guy battles work or make sense.

I'll be sad if it's not Enchantress.

Is it? This wouldn't exactly be a punching battle. Couldn't you have it so Thor is flying around hitting Surtur, attacking him with lightning and blasts. Whilst you have Surtur hitting Thor with his sword and maybe some fire blasts.

Enchantress needs to be in this, whether as the big bad or as a kind of Loki figure from T:TWD where she might side with him at times, but could just as easily stab him in the back. I think that is Amora's nature anyway. She does sometimes genuinely seem to want Thor for a lover.

I also think that whoever plays her needs to look so beautiful that you couldn't believe she's a villain. You would have to fall for her charms, both on and off screen. If she is someone like Charlize Theron or Eva Green, then I think that would too automatically scream villainess immediately when you see her.

Marvel almost need to cast against type and think in terms of casting a love interest or heroine, and then using her as Enchantress.

This is exactly why you need a gigantic foe. We've already seen Thor battle little guys. Show us something new. Give us a physical enemy truly worthy of the Thunder God. Jotunheim gave us a glimpse of what he can do - now require him to give it everything he's got just to survive. Make Thor have to use his flying and powers of weather manipulation. The Winter Soldier demonstrated how truly badass Cap can be. But Cap sure as hell ain't taking on Surtur or Mangog or the Midgard Serpent. Show us why Thor is badass. Make people stand up and say "Holy crap! That's Thor!"

I don't want the movie to get over crowded but I also really hope we get to see Amora also. But also Balder. It's my biggest gripe that he's been absent from the films and it's almost dangerously too late to introduce him BUT they can still make it work. But along with those two I feel you also need Skurge and Karnilla.... and don't forget Hela. Crap - this movie needs to be like 3 hours long. What's PJ doing after the Hobbit?

Thanos. With Surtur being the Doomsday weapon Thanos unleashes on Asgard.

So someone like Kate Beckinsale in Total Recall remake (I hope it isn't a spoiler)

Main villain has to be Surtur, but I don't want Amora to be wasted as a secondary villain, she needs her own story. And correct me If I'm wrong, but there are not many female villains in comic book movies. Nebula was more of a henchman (henchwoman?), Catwoman and Mystique are antiheroes. Maya Hansen was a plot-device. Everyone was so obsessed with female superhero movies but we haven't had yet a decent female villain who is even more interesting.

That is true but I think a potential Thor 4 would be good for that. I just feel like Surtur has to be done, he's a fantastic villain & one that would be visually amazing on-screen.

But, if somehow Amora ended up being the villain I wouldn't complain. You are right in that we need more female villains to take the stage.

Enchantress/Executioner working for Thanos by way of Nebula or Thane

Surtur as the main villian in 3rd act.

So are Marvel going to hurry up and use Enchantress in Thor? WB/DC are using their character "Enchantress" in Suicide Squad, and she's not even all that well known. Certainly not more known than Amora.

We need to get her in this movie. She's way overdue for a big screen appearance.

I have a feeling that they will have enchantress they didnt care about QuickSilver when fox also had the same character in xmen

Indeed. I don't think it'd be impossible to pull off, would just take some creativity so that every piece of the sequence comes off as engaging & epic.

I either see Marvel using Lorelei or Enchantress' name Amora. Amora the Enchantress would more than likely be her official title
Besides MARVEL's Enchantress is two years OLDER than DC's, DC would be the one who'd have to alter the name

I think you're on the money there as far as Marvel using the Enchantress' Asgardian name to distinguish her from DC's version. However, I personally think the whole reason they used the lesser known sister Lorelei on AOS is because Marvel is saving Amora for the big screen.

DC's version is hardly known though. Amora the Enchantress is the famous Enchantress. Why do Marvel need to distinguish her from DC's version. DC should give her a different name. Marvel should have already introduced her anyway, especially since they wasted time with this sidekick for Darcy who was completely unnecessary.

I suspect they'll call her Amora (or, more accurately, emphasize her name Amora while they'll use both in the movie) is because Marvel movies tend to hesitate in using codenames. It won't have anything to do with whether DC uses the name "Enchantress" because I honestly think they won't give a crap.

Loki needs to distract Thor while he makes his plans with Surtur. Send the Enchantress to start an troll uprising and Thor spends the first ten minutes of the movie putting a beatdown on Ulik. Then bring on Surtur.

DC's Enchantress has pretty much nothing in common with Amora besides the codename "Enchantress." And given Marvel's track record, she'll like be called "Amora" most of the time anyway.

I'm not that well versed in Thor comics but isn't Enchantress essentially a female Loki?

No, she´s more than that, there are a lot of differences between them, even in their relationship with their relatives (Amora/Lorelei - Thor/Loki).

Really the only thing that she really has in common with Loki is that they're intelligent/manipulative magic users. Other than that, they're quite different.
