Marc Webb's series will most likely be a trilogy. But that won't mean the end of Spider-Man movies. Sony is a company that is in really bad shape right now, and Spidey is the only thing they have left that will earn them serious cash.

i just want a great spidey vs venom movie. if GG is the villian in TAS2 im so fine with that kill gwen and have spidey get the black suit at the end of the film maybe in an end credit scene. Peter will deal with the suit and a minor villian in the first half hour of TAS3 built up eddie brock in some viral stuff. Than have peter get rid of the symbiote, Eddie turn in venom. So on with the movie I just NEED venom in a spidey film its the one thing ive wanted my whole life more than anything else in film.

That's all I've ever wanted. I don't care if it's in this new series or even if Marvel did an animated straight to DVD movie. I just want that epic Spider-man vs. Venom film.

Well if you take the Venom saga from TAS in the 90s, its kinda like an animated Venom movie. We need live action!

That also means a reboot.

Not necessarily. The story arc in Webb's trilogy would be complete, but they could make more films (loose sequels) that introduce new story arcs and such. So if Peter and MJ are now together, they can start working on that relationship a little more.

They could've done the same with Raimi's series as well, but they didn't. Nothing shows me that Sony would keep moving along with Webb's series with how they were selfish with Raimi's.

Well if they did decide to reboot the movies, I'm sure they wouldn't tell the origin again. Do you think they chose to tell an origin story because they figured it would be the easiest route to go?

Well, it certainly gave them an easier story for the first hour or so to re-tell the origin.

I wish they didn't though. We saw a pretty good origin already.

At first I was unhappy with it, but afterwards I was just happy to see that Spider-Man would be back on the big screen again. At least we know we will be getting more movies in the future. I really wonder though how the GA will like the movie.

I would like to see Smythe get crippled by Spidey's fight with Goblin in ASM2 and create spider slayers in AMS3 after taking over Oscorp, and go all crazy nasty at the end, grow some horns and kill Spidey.

That would blow the game out of continuity then. And that would suck, imo, I loved the idea of a gaming experience in-continuity, or at least pretty close.

Isn't the game considered non-canon though? So if they ever wanted to use Scorpion, are they going to say "well he was in the video game, so we can't use him for the movie now?"

Lol. Sacrifice a totally bad-ass story line to keep ONE of the games in cannon.

Not to mention, the ASM game exists so closely in the comic book and movie universes simultaneously, eventually, the Webb series will use one of the characters that is in the game, because the game has allusions to Sandman, Hydroman, and Vulture. It explicitly mentions Mendel Stromm, Norman Osborn, Otto Octavius, and Venom, and it features Smythe, the Spider Slayers, Rhino, Vermin, Iguana, the Scorpion, and a version of the Doc Ock arms.

Also, scorpion exists twice in the Raimi games(SM1, SM3), inexplicably, and you can play as the Harry Green Goblin in the SM1 game

There you go. The games are loosely based on the movies, but that's all. I remember how excited I was when you could play as Harry (GG) in SM1, and he talks about the equipment he found in his father's lab.

Wait Scorpion was in SM3: the game? I don't even remember that. He was fun to fight in SM1: the game though.

I'd love to see Spider-Man fight Venom and close off the backstory of his parents.

Mysterio and Kraven.

Instincts contrasted with technological illusion.

It's a good thing since I never wanted Scorpion in a sequel :woot:

You make it seem Webb would want to use any of those B-rated villains that show up, INCLUDING Smythe, imo. Plus...Sandman and/or Vulture aren't needed. We don't need to see two Raimi villains(since Green Goblin is a given) and we know how Sony feels about Vulture being in a Spidey installment. Also....the game doesn't mention Otto or Venom at all. Only as a backstory for Scorpion, but they're not mentioned in-game.

Difference between those games and TAS-M's. The Raimi adaptation are what they are, adaptations of the films themselves. Beenox worked alongside Marvel and supposedly even with Webb to create a game AFTER the movie, not to go alongside the film.

Very thorough, Anno. I was just making a point that in the end, the game is the game, and the movie takes top billing, and can do what it wants.

In the end, if they really want to use a villain that appeared in the game, they can and will. Though the villains for this game aren't exact the best of the rogues gallery, so we'll see. Best one is Scorpion I presume?

Scorpion is actually really lame... As in, he is not Mac Gargan. He is a no name test tube villain created by Doc Ock, using a hybrid of scorpion and symbiote DNA. My personal favorite in the game is Smythe. He was given a realistic treatment, and it makes him a better villain for it without taking away who he really is.

I strive on being thorough, hahaha.

Nah, I'm just only speaking on how the game uses these B-rated(Rhino, Scorpion), C-rated villains(Vermin, Iguana...****ing "Nattie"?) which helps the films because I don't see any of those villains showing up. Smythe could definitely be a reasonable villain, but I could just be biased as I don't really want to see any of the villains in the game in a future sequel. There are more "important" ones to be used.

Yeah, the villains in the game are mostly lame and unimportant... Was nattie ever in the comics? But I think the film series is taking a very Oscorp-centric approach, and this could give Smythe a very real place in the universe, and I think he could be a great end boss for the series, and it doesn't hurt that he is such a scientific baddie.

I guess its good that the game got some of the B rated villains out of the way for now. The version of Scorpion in the game does sound pretty lame though, but overall I do like the Mac Gargan character.

If Vulture is ever in a movie, I think they should use the design from Web of Shadows, where he had blades come out of his wings.
