Homecoming Who should be the Villain in Spider-Man (2017)? - Part 3

I been saying for awhile about vulture be an inventor of the wing tech the govt took it from him and he wants tech back. And a way to tie to mcu and have a good connection. Then a way you can also add the second vulture as a ex member of falcon group.

Whoever they choose as the villain should bring high stakes to the film. Not necessarily for the whole city, it could be personal. What matters is that we should be at the edge of our seats. That is something that's been missing in a lot of Marvel Studios' films, save for very few exceptions.

The villain ought not to simply rob banks or just be an annoyance to Spidey's daily life. I know that's how many villains have been portrayed in the early days, but films are a different kind of medium.

I want to feel impressed by the villain. Like "whoa, this villain is awesome!". I want the villain to be dangerous to Spider-Man even if Peter's personal life is the centre of the film (as it should be).

You can have both a compelling, dangerous and deep villain and a well written focus on Peter's personal life at the same time. They don't really exclude each other.

But we've seen that five times in Spider-Man films and twelve times in Marvel films. I wouldn't mind seeing something different - prove that Marvel can draw from the comics with a different time of superhero/villain conflict.

That's not a bad start, but there needs to be an escalation that leads to a climax.

Also how should Vulture's quest for revenge be portrayed? Is it sympathetic, where he has a completely valid beef with the government that he takes a little too far or is it a totally selfish and petty revenge, that he has no problem having dozens of innocent people killed to feed his desire for vengeance? Is it somewhere in between, where Vulture has a legitimate gripe, but takes way too far that it becomes unsympathetic, with him having a disregard for human life? Also what kind of character would Vulture be in general, is he just a selfish psychopath or does he have loved ones he cares about?

I would still pair him up with a more physical villain and would focus on Vulture as more of a mastermind type character. Make him seem smart, rather then just saying he is smart and giving him some tech to show off and techno babel to spout, give him a plan that seems a bit epic.

Didn't we really see that in the last film, with the rather bland rivalry between Spidey and Electro? Frankly the personal romantic stuff was the only thing interesting in that film, the villains were total bores. Plus haven't we seen a lot of lame MCU villains like Malekith, shouldn't Spidey raise the bar in terms of villains. Frankly I think the trope with the generic villain who robs banks, the hero stops him, villain swears revenge because hero stops him from robbing banks, should either be reworked or retired. Its just not that interesting on its own, I don't care much for it in the comics, unless a writer can do something a bit more interesting with these types of villains. At least give some of these bank robbing villains some depth, like the way Captain Cold has loved ones he cares about and a code of ethics he subscribes to, this why I think Captain Cold is a way better villain then say Shocker.

I wouldn't want a DD season where DD stops bank robbers for a whole season, I think Spidey deserves better villains then that as well.

I like some of the points about villains popping up here. Really smart.

Jonathan Banks for the win.

Not bad man! Looks nice

Vulture. The Jumpsuit is a recolored Falcon costume.

I know Kingpin has only been in the Daredevil series in the MCU, but why not have him in the movie? Sure, he won't be the one that goes toe to toe with Spider-Man, but have him as a behind the scenes villain while the main villain is on his payroll.

Everyone has brought that up. Maybe, if they can get through the thick wall between MCU Film and Tv

You know, they are doing it with AoS/MCU...I imagine there's not an agreement with Netflix, to include characters or tie the Netflix world with the MCU....otherwise, I don't understand what would be the problem, since it's still Marvel & and established precedence with AoS.

Or maybe Sony has to agree as well.

Okay, lately i have been thinking and i realized that they could or should keep Kraven for the third installment for this new franchise.

That makes sense. Its all a 3 actually 4 way deal. Marvel, Sony, Disney and Netflix.

They def need some really cool MCU level actors for the SM villains.

hey they could always use that villain too and say he gives out teach various baddies go to get weapons and what not.

Jonathan Banks as Vulture is pure GOLD. That would be incredible

Thinkerer is a perfect villain that they could introduce right now in Daredevil to set up a bigger universe.

I'd love for a good rendition of Green Goblin. No transformations, but a good old mask. Just make this green:

Good ol' prostetics and masks the classic style.
Even if they don't use Gobby, let's say they used Hobgoblin, a good ol' mask like that with animatronics and a bit of CG and you have a scary mask that can emote and look weird and scary at the same time.
