I think that, on balance, Brainiac is the strongest contender. The only downside I can see with him is that there is a degree of cross-over with the intergalactic threat of the Kryptonians.

A terrestrial threat could be interesting, though a lot of the potential candidates are similar to the League of Assassins.

The villain should be Amazo in combination with Lex or, as I prefer, Savage.

There isn´t really a story I can think of that enlightens every important aspect needed that satisfyies me as much as Amazo-Savage does. Some important aspects are: charachter development, team dynamic and a original/proper JL villain. Amazoo is perfect for that because he can help show that "the whole of the sum is greater than the parts" and what I mean by that is that he´ll be absorbing powers defeating each hero at first, forcing them to work together. He´ll also help us see that one mind is efficient, perhaps much more efficient than the JL as newbies but it can never exceed that of a synchrnoized JL lead by Superman. What´s also great is that you get the mystery of some bigger fish as well as great origin stories. I mean Savage has a cool background and portraying Amazo as a confused anti-hero as in JLU would be cool.

CSA isn´t that good because you loose the contrast between the charachters . I don´t like the idea of comparing 2 charachters that are both new. I also dislike any alien invasion because it has been done to much nor do I like space villains like Doomy or Brainy because I think they belong in the MoS movies. I´d rather have some original JL villain and hopefully it will be someone that makes sense. I need to read the Starro comic because a lot of folks hope that´s what´s gonna happen.

So: Amazo-Savage for sure but Despero, Grodd or some interesting sourcerer could work but come on, we all know we want white martians (MMH) for second movie, the CSA for the third and DS for the fourth. That´s how you do it. You also make damn sure he´s been teased via Orion/new Gods + old Gods/Wonder woman in her movies and that DS was the one who sent Doomsday to Earth for MoS 3.

Going by the Bruce Timm JL's episode where Amazo was the villain, all it would do really is bump up the message that "Superpowers are stupid and Batman's the best".

Ideally the villain should be one which effectively complements ALL of the heroes and makes them ALL feel important and relevant thus increasing audiences liking the heroes enough to make future solo endeavours successful.

Darkseid springs immediatly to mind upon hearing the news of a JL movie. He is DC's best villain overall IMO so I cant wait to see him on the big screen.

BUT, I also wouldnt mind seeing him introduced in this movie and being expanded upon before becoming a main villain. So someone like Amazo, Doomsday or Imperiex may be better suited for the 1st JL movie.

It would be cool if we had a supernatural threat to complete this opening trilogy to the DC universe.

Man of Steel: Alien threat (Zod). What happens when the world learns its not alone in the universe. The tip of the iceberg.

Batman vs Superman: Human/technological threat (Lex/Batman/Metallo/Bat-drones, etc). The world showing that they are just as much of a threat to the world as any outside force.

Justice League: Superhuman/Supernatural threat (Ares, Atlantis, etc). The world learning that their own world is much different than they realized with the emergence of groups of superhumans, hidden Kingdoms,'magic', etc.

But that's just me being OCD. An alien threat for Justice League would be great too.

I really hope they do Darkseid like this. Have him get barely defeated in the origin and then return later on with a full invasion force and The Anti-Life Equation in his hands ala Final Crisis or the JLU finale.

The only thing that irritates me about using Darkseid right away is that it just comes off as lazy. I'd argue that he needs even more build up then Thanos. That and the Justice League has a pretty impressive set of foes to use instead of just going with Darkseid right away.

Nekron as the creator of the Black Lanterns? If so, I'd vehemently oppose it, it's too intrinsically linked to a lot of Green Lantern lore (which could be removed, but then why bother doing it?).

As just regular old "Lord of the Unliving" I'd be more interested.

Putting it like that, I think I'd rather see Nekron in an Earth-2 film. Green Lantern could wield the green flame of life and Flash powered somehow by the red.
