That is true. He has an endless selection of villains and there are many stories that could be told. Right now the ones I would like to see the most are a Symbiotes story (perhaps one where they actually go to the Symbiotes home planet :wow:) and a Sinister Six one.

That's why I think the most relevant question is: What kind of story do you want to tell? Then you pick villain based on that. Instead of the other way around.

I feel like Shocker or Mysterio would be a good choice of a villain for Spider-Man to start off with. Plus they haven't been done before.

I agree completely. As well as being one of my favourite villains, I think a Venom story would be good because it also brings out Peters dark side and Venom is also a very personal for him due to both Brocks hatred and contempt for Spiderman (and sometimes Peter also) as well as the symbiotes bitterness over Peter rejecting it and also having a love/hate relationship with Peter. The symbiote hates Peter for discarding it but also wants to bind with him again and sees brock as a bit of a rebound, but yet bonds with him over their mutual dislike of the same person.

I think venom is interesting also because while he is an "evil" version of Spiderman and like his dark reflection, he is also redeemable and tries to atone for his sins. There are a lot of stories to be told with that character, with or without Spiderman. And then there is Carnage. If venom is Spiderman's evil version and dark reflection, then that is what Carnage is to Venom. Just my personal opinion but I think some great stories could be told with those characters.

Well if I were Marvel I'd want to tell a fun but epic story. And one of the most fun villains I can think of is Mysterio.

Who do people consider to be Spiderman's Joker? His main villains IMO are Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom and Carnage in terms of popularity, reoccurrence, storylines and how they have a very personal relationship with Spiderman/Parker (apart from Carnage that is). Venom is more like his rival and sometimes ally. Perhaps it is the Green Goblin but it is close between him and Ock.

I voted Vulture. The air battles would be cool. He could be a former Oscorp employee perhaps. I myself don't mind Noir Vulture or the FOX Kids animated Vulture, where he sucks the life to make himself young. You could have this young versus old thing with him and Peter. Where Vulture is an established villain but has new tech to use these powers to make himself young again. The Spectacular version of him works quite well too.

I'd be up for Mysterio as well. Overall, let's not use any villains we haven't already. Plus, most of them I think need to be established first before throwing them in as villains. Let's establish Osborn first in a film and in a sequel turn him into the Goblin. Same can be said for Eddie Brock Venom, maybe even Doc Ock. Kraven would be cool but better for a sequel, when Spider-Man is established and famous. End of the first one post credit scene, reads an article of Spider-Man, and you hear this Russian voice, rips article in half or throws a knife at it or something.

Sandman anyone?

I'm all for him to return if the story requires it. I don't think he was used to his potential visually in SM3.

I'd say, being Spider-Man's Joker in the sense of being the #1 arch enemy who is pretty much the complete opposite yet representing sides of the character...for sure is Green Goblin.

As long as he doesn't have a daughter.

I want Sandman like in Spectacular Spider-Man. Especially that one episode where the oil tanker was going down and he saved everyone, that was awesome.

I thought he was actually used quite well. Certainly, I wasn't expecting much and he surpassed expectations.

I think the story should start small scale, which is why I want one of Spider-Man's semi-fantastical street level villains involved in some way: Hammerhead, Tombstone, Enforcers. Since every Spider-Man story seems to be about how great power comes with great responsibility, it's hard to pick something that a particular villain would be suited to. Since he's in High School, I could see some kind of theme of youth, but that's just an excuse to say that Vulture (and maybe Silvermane) should be in it.

If it's tied to Civil War, maybe play on the idea of the world against Spider-Man and consider the Spider Slayers. Although, if the slayers end up sanctioned as part of the government actions (as a Civil War storyline would imply), that comes a little too close to a Hulk story (Hulk vs. the government).

I disagree about Sandman. As a character I liked him, but visually they didn't use him to his potential at all if you ask me. I would have liked to see more action where he's in human size instead of just that grunting giant.

I like your ideas, especially about the Spider Slayers. I think Scorpion could fit in such a story as well.

Scorpion would be badass but it definitely reminds me of Hulk and Abomination.

Yeah, but it'd be nice in general. I'd like to see Scorpion as well. Hammerhead is one of the other street level villains I could see. Thinking they could make his headplate out of some sort of reinforced Iron or Titanium plating instead of Vibranium like I'd imagine most would expect. Since Adamantium isn't in this Universe...yet.

Rhino would be great reason to do a Hulk crossover as he and Hulk are both unstoppable juggernauts...*cough*. Hydro Man is the only villain I can't see.

I figured you disagreed with me since I was specifically replying to you by disagreeing with you. :p

Or molten man

too much of a low-level street thug who just happened to have a liquid alloy spilled on him and is merely strengthened more than a normal human, but FAR from a high-level threat... unless you use the Molten Man of later appearances when he actually started having core meltdowns and began combusting...
