Robert Zemeckis, Favreau, or JJ Abrams with the right script.

Maybe Wolfgang Petersen, who'll be directing BvS anyway.

I doubt Petersen will still do BvS IF (and that is a big IF) it ever happens.

Well, if they market it well enough....Iron Man could soar with an unknown.

The marketing, the hype would have to be there.

Plus....if they get a smoking hot female celeb big name to be the "appointed" love interest.....it could work.

I mean, FANTASTIC FOUR had practically nobody's.......but they had Alba. AND the F4 isn't as known as Superman, Batman, Spider-Man or X-men...and it made it work.

Hmm..an unknown for Iron Man? Bad call on his part. Iron Man needs a big name to carry it.

I agree

Its not the type of hero people just know. I really hope the studio either pushes Tom Cruise or Johnny Depp.
Not as big as those two imo

I really hope he goes the route of Ultimate Iron Man more than 616 Iron Man. I like Ultimate better.
I much prefer 616,i hate the ultimate armour

I think the Ultimate armor is closer to a modern battle suit where as the 616 looks like a costume.

It is aspects of the Ultimate character I prefer over the 616 continuity. I like his motivation better (The brain tumor, although that would be...granted, hard to portray on screen). His openess with the public about his identity, his celebrity caused by being Iron Man.

Really? I love the Ultimate Armor. It's realistic.....it's got a real, warfare, military feel. I always kinda urked at the mainstream armor.

I think Iron Man is really underrated. As a kid, I liked only b/c he's cool looking..

Why is Singer even on this lame poll? Of course he will get the most votes. Silly.

I like Ellis armour i thought it looked like a modern battlesuit, has the armour changed in his solo title as when i last saw in as part of Ultimates he has an anime look imo

Character-wise the celebrity part is interesting but doe's it deal with much of his alcoholism ?

Exactly, doesn't having Singer in the poll contradict the title "Who would you RATHER have"?

Stark drinks quite a bit in the Ultimate-verse. In fact, there are very scenes when he's out of the armor that hes not drinking.

Interesting, actually from what Favreau said they are starting out with the silver armour and it will progress through the movie

Well, I wonder.......I'm not as known with the 616 Bucket head as I am with the Ultimate.

Does his entire body consist of brain matter as well?

Oh....and, I have VOL. 1 of his mini....and he pretty much starts drinking before he's even 18.

Now that is interesting.

Who do you want to play Tony, Hunter? If it is an origin that calls for a younger Tony, than the kid from Entourage on HBO wouldn't be bad.

Is it just me or would Allyson Hannigan make a perfect Pepper?

I might have to agree here. I mean if you get huge names for love interest and villan, surround them with great character supporting actors (Frank Langella, Joe Panteliano, guys like that) and market it well it Could very well fly.

Or maybe the idea is to not expect it to be blockbuster caliber so they can keep it as true to the comics as possible (which I'm not sure...though I am leaning toward Ultimates, but Favereau mentions the "old" steel suit being used before the modern armor so who knows) and appeal to the fanboys

Kevin Dillon. Plays Drama on Entourage. Good actor, has the look, the physique, and the age for an origin.

I used to want Cruise but years have passed and he is getting older(his public life has no bearing for me)
the guy i felt would be a good choice is Matthew Fox from Lost

Agreed on Hannigan and get me some Ving Rhames as War Machine:up:

I think Kiefer would make an excellent Stark. But I know dork about IronMan.

Yeah....from the sounds of it, they'll probably edge more towards the 616.

Drama....nah.....he can't be Tony. I think he's too old....for one. Maybe b/c I'm such an ENTOURAGE fan, and It'd be tough for ME to buy.....I dunno.

I think they'll go with a younger actor, even if known. Franchises seems to be the "it" for Hollywood comic films now.

Not a bad call on Fox. He has a good fanbase from Lost, talent, and good look. Rhames would make an excellent War Machine

If you wanna go younger, Vince might not be bad...then again, he is already Aquaman ;)

Ok I know Im gonna get my teeth kicked in here but who the hell is iron man? Can someone please give us people who dont know some kind of brief history or info. and whats so cool

i love what Singer's doing with the current film...

...but back when they were still searching for directors, i thought it would've been interesting seeing Brad Bird's take on the big blue.

Ok, lesser known but still good actors who seem slightly Armor-worthy:

Patrick Dempsay
Ron Livingston
George Eads (Nick Stokes on CSI)
Mark Wahlberg
