I don't start enough threads(and perhaps there's a good reason for that), figured I'd give it a shot.

Who do you rather see direct a Power Rangers movie?
Zack Snyder vs Chris Nolan.

There's no agenda here, just curious what to see what this community really likes about both the directors and this lauded silly but fun property.

Myself I say Snyder for Power Rangers. My GF, who was never a fan, says Nolan.

zack snyder. Nolan would take it too seriously imo, and you can't take a movie called "power rangers" too seriously, even the title sounds silly.

Zack for sure.

We have a Power Rangers thread....but out of the 2 I'd definitely wanna see Snyder do it. Nolan would be the director FURTHEST from my mind. Nolan is a very cerebral director and there's nothing cerebral about Power Rangers.

If I could choose ANYONE though, I'd choose J.J. Abrams.

I didn't plan on this being only a power ranger thread.

The question I suppose is if you want someone that will make a film that will exceed the genre or one that will fully embrace it.
respectively.

Nolan, only for the simple fact that Michael Caine would be cast as Zordon.

"Alpha...what the world needs now... is 5 teenagers with attitude. Not a lot of people know that".

I'd rather there just not be a Power Rangers film.

Would you rather they make a new Terminator Film or just let it die already?

The hypothetical doesn't take into account one's apathy for the property, just the prospect of the comparison.

NOw chOOse.

I'd rather neither one of them wasted their time.

Seconded^
If I had to choose, certainly Zach Snyder. I think he's a fine director, but please don't let him write anything.

I'd rather neither one of them wasted their time.

What you must mean(if I may) is you would rather neither of them wasted their time on something you have no interest in.

The self righteous spirit lives on.

I would think that was obvious without having to qualify it with what amounts to a useless "IMO."

But... Freeman's voice as Zordon. Imagine how awesome that is. :oldrazz:

I'd rather not see a Power Ranger film, it might big in the US but not realy in EU ( at least France ).
And those two directors would just laught at the idea.
Waste of ressources.

Yeah, I don't see anybody really clamoring to speculate which top shelf director would take on a purely merchandising heavy venture...

I think I was in early middle school when Power Rangers hit the USA (5th- 7th grade) and besides the hotties in the skirts the rest of the show was a bad saturday morning live action show (there were several) but this one had momentum and backing since it was an successful import. I'm always surprised to see that anyone over the age of 10 still holds any interest for thee Power Rangers... BUT i do realize that would be unfair to the entire fanboy dynamic... So I guess all in all you'd have to take a director with a good sense of humor and no real resources at stake to take that on.

Try Michael Bay? OR maybe Disney will buy Japan?

Has anybody ever seen ZebraMan? its kinda like the Dark Knight meets the Power Rangers meets EVERY badly dubbed asian film ever. Ridiculous yet fascinating.

a power rangers film would not need to be anything more than a spectacular action film. i'd trust zack snyder to deliver amazing visuals and top notch martial arts over chris nolan any day.

I'm not one of those fans that loves power rangers I was mostly just looking to see what people thought beyond my private discussion as it pertains to those directors and their strengths, when applied to something like this.

I also don't think dismissing the significant though under appreciated community that does still love this little geek property is a worthy cause. I mean what's so different between the dudes that go to power con's to support and relive their childhood and people that go to cons that do the same for more acceptable geek properties? Sure Star Trek was smarter but that doesn't mean it's more deserving of...what ever it is you would call that.

Moreover, I personally never understood why the likes of godzilla is so well cherished around these parts...but that's me.

Speaking of...

yeah... Michael Bay.

I see the team dynamic your picking up on, the huge robots, the scale that could be built around a Power Rangers Franchise. I think really the only thing standing between Power Rangers and a quality Movie is the fudiciary maturity of its audience.

I won't pretend to know any demographics on the Power Ranger fanbase but I would say that just like us 30 somethings would still love to see a justified He-Man movie come to life; the 20 somethings that may some day want to see a Power Rangers movie aren't possibly ready for harvest yet in the minds of those who ultimately decide when the gavel drops.

But then again... Power Rangers has been the most consistently present toy line on the shelves since thier premier back in 1990-meh... Maybe they feel no need to create more work for themselves when they are already making bank off their truckloads of Mighty this and Ninja that and $pacePoliceAlpha$quadronUltimateMorphinDooDah...

Ooohh, maybe they should make a NERF movie... Honestly. I'd go see that first.

Oooohhh. Slinky: The Movie... I can already see the plot twist!!!

Did I ramble? I blacked out... what happened?

I'd rather sleep with Zack Snyder. :o

... wait, was that not the question?

I'd rather no Power Ranger film be made again.

But if it had to happen for this thread's silly scenario....Snyder.

Nolan is too good of a filmmaker to waste time on this.
