Cyke couldn't shoot a big role... I am not saying it's Marsden's fault... but the guy did sign with Supes... wtf was Fox supposed to do... get over it already... Pheonix was butchered... yes... but let go of Cyke already...

Partially true, Fox waited quite a bit on acknowledging a production date for X3. Then when Singer jumped ship Fox wanted to prove they could do it without them so they rushed. I mean WTF?! Wait over a year before confirming it then get it done in a few months?!

That whole year that they waited could have been spent on setting up production and working on the film. The dates for actually making the movie kept moving forward, but the release date did not.

Fox could have just avoided the Phoenix Sstoryline alltogether for X-3. The cure storyline was enough for the movie.

Yup. You know the more I think about it. The more I'm itching for a Nightcrawler vs Toad battle.

The excuse they keep giving is that if the studio had waited, the actors wouldnt have been available. Now while I can understand that thinking when it comes to Hugh, Halle, and Ian...I cant really understand that as far as the others go. Outside of the X-flicks, Famke, Anna, Shawn, Aaron, James, Rebecca, and even Patrick dont work on much of anything.

Very true. X3 could have just been more buildup to the Phoenix storyline. Have major hints throughout the film (i.e. Xavier sensing Jean etc.) and then at the end Jean rises. Then let Singer tackle it in X4.

Mixing the two, they really had to downplay the two to make them fit. And let's face it. You can only compress a story arc so much to make it fit into ONE movie before it gets so squished that it loses its effectiveness. This movie is proof of that.

They could even expand on the new characters: Angel, Beast, Shadowcat, Colossus, Moira plus returning characters.
And if they really wanted it, they could have done more with the Bobby/Kitty/Rogue love triangle.

ABsolutely. That way, you could be sure that you'd have the whole cast ready to do the next film. And by teasing the audience like that with what was coming, you'd build them up into a frenzy, foaming at the mouth, stampeding to the theatre to see what happens next. You wouldn't need to spend $40 million on marketing because by then everyone would be dying to see the next film.

Any footage requiring Famke could be flashbacks. Or film some of her scenes and just save them for the next film, like they did with LOTR so she doesn't get bored sitting there. You don't even have to show Jean rising. Just imply it at the very, very end. Just have Scott drive off and make it clear where he's going and why. That would be some cliffhanger.

Beast and Angel definitely could have had more screentime. Help establish their histories and their role with the team, especially Beast. There's no need to rush the Phoenix storyline. Best things come to those who wait. You now saw what happens when you rush things.

Quick off-topic question.

In the X-Men movies, Alkali(spelling?) Lake is supposed to be in Canada, right?

Ratner may do action scenes, but he definitely cannot do love scenes. His characters don't even get a chance to enjoy themselves before something happens or we have to cut to the next scene. Look at that scene in Spiderman 2 where Mary Jane wants to determine whether she's making a mistake and if Peter really loves her. The slow buildup, MJ taking Peters hands in hers, etc. granted Doc Oc ruined it at the last second but you could feel time slowing down. Same thing with Superman Returns, the flying scene with Lois. It was gentle, it was sweet, it wasn't rushed, it was just long ENOUGH. Alkali Lake wash a rush job About a minute from their first encounter to Xavier screaming like he stubbed his toe. The editing on that looks like they accidentally ran out of film during Scott and Jean's reunion.

Yes, but not all of it. Straddling the US / Canadian border, on the western side of the continent. Alberta. And you spelled it right.

Okay. Wanted to make sure it would work with my fixing of the X-Movieverse.

I have the same problem. It felt like it was on the east coast with the way everyone was casually going there and back. Now it's a bit more challenging since they'll have less time to spare if they have to keep going back and forth to find that OTHER missing member of the team :). I also have new respect for Scott and Logan. Riding 2800 miles by motorcycle is no simple feat.

^Yeah. I was just wondering because I'm bringing in Alpha Flight into my story. At least how I could see them working moviewise.

Alpha Flight would be nice. The only gripe I have that is consistent with all Xfilms is that it would've been nice to have scene the Xmen battle a team as versatile and cohesive as them. Which is why I would like to see a better developed Toad and Sabretooth return or the Hellfire Club.

They're in my story. :)

You'll get the Hellfire club in my story :) One word though, as Jean noticed in the X3 novel, one of the reasons that sets the X-Men apart from the bad guys, is that usually the bad guys charge their opponents head-on, each trying to find his own glory and rarely combining powers, whereas the X-Men work as a team, training together and figuring out ways to overcome their limitations with teamwork and coordination. Usually the bad guys aren't as principled as far as their member's welfare and teamwork is concerned.

Good point. I guess I just miss the one on one battles that were hinted at in X1. X2 gave us Wolveridol vs (Damn Fine)Lady Deathstrike.

Sweeeet Monkeys! I must peruse these tomes of inmeasurable knowledge you speak of!

I have it all written but I'm typing it right now. I'll post the basics soon.:)
It also includes Havok, Nightcrawler, Banshee and a new Brotherhood.

Sweet monkey manacles! I'll await the secret signal!

^Yeah it has more characters than X-3 but they all get their due. Plus my story is also supposed to continue the series.
