We all know that (for the most part), The Joker has been depicted wearing a purple suit. Even so, artists/filmmakers have often put their own spin on the Clown Prince of Crime's costume. Who's is your favorite?

I don't know who sculpted this, but I've always loved how The Joker looked in this statue:

TDK's.

Orange always looked weird to me. Purple and green is the way to go.

Definitely Heath Ledger's Joker in TDK:

Great image (by Gabriele Dell'Otto):

The classic look. It helps that green, orange and purple are my favorite colors.

I like Heath's of course, Miller's DKR with the all white Joker against the Dark Knight, also liked Bejermo's Joker, in that he really thought out of the box when it came to different designs.

Arkham Asylum Joker FTW!

It combined all of his looks from TKJ, TDK, '89, and the classic comics paired with Hamil's voice.

To me, this is the essential Joker.

I like the production art version a bit better than the actual game model though.

True, the production art was better, in game he seemed like a posessed puppet...ok if you like that sort of thing.

Bermejo's Joker is tops for me. I just love that outfit. The black leather trenchcoat, in particular. It's more casual than any other design I've seen, but kinda classy lookin, IMO, rather than dirty and disheveled like TDK.

The new video game rendition is a close 2nd, though. Definitely my favorite 'classic' Joker.

Heath Ledger, visually, I've actually never been completely fond of, and recently have hated. He just looks too grungy. The Joker dresses the way he does because he views everything as if he was putting on a show. So he wears the gaudy purple tux, shiny shoes, vest etc to look good in front of his audience. Yet here we have ol' Heath-Joker sauntering around looking like he slept in his clothes for weeks. In an open dumpster. I do like his shirt, though. Snazzy!

I do prefer animated series Joker, his suit is classic.

And to think some people thought we'd never see him in a purple suit because it would be "too unrealistic". :whatever:

So you knew all along exactly what Nolan was brewing, eh?

It was purely fan speculation, man. Nobody really knew what we were getting especially after that first released Joker picture.

Nolan's a guy who put The Scarecrow in a suit and tie, so a Joker not wearing purple wasn't all that far off at the time.

True, considering in the concept art he looked drastically different, sporting t-shirts and stuff.

Yea but the whole idea that a purple suit is "unrealistic" is ridiculous.

I like Bermejo's Joker. Love the trench he wears. And it's hard to tell whether he has make up on or his skin is just really washed out and pale.

Well, from what we seen in Nolan's BB it did seem too "loud" for his world at the time. Hell, nobody in our reality really wears purple suits. Ra's wasn't wearing a green cloak, he was wearing a black suit, Scarecrow wasn't in rags, he was in a gray suit.
Afterall these are the boards that brought you "aunt carnage". But it all worked out obviously.

..and considering that the Joker is a chaotic character, having a suit that stands out from the norm would be exactly what he wants.

Oh exactly. Right on. But we're fans, and we speculate and make ourselves crazy over things that are ridiculous. It's what we do.

I understand that.

But Joker is a bonafide "freak". The first one if you think about it. His appearance signals the rise of the freaks in Gotham. I don't think Nolan would think about toning him down too much. He'd want to show that there is more outlandish villains to come.

Yes sir. You're right. But you know how crazy us fans get sometimes. We get paranoid, there's thousands of "What if's". Just like everyone's doing with Riddler, Killer Croc, etc. right now.

If Riddler is in Batman 3, will he wear green? Hmmmmm.....

Exactly! By making the joker the first outlandish looking supervillain in the franchise, the floodgates are now opened for others to make flashy entrances or just flashy clothes!

Oh yeah, I remember that. I got into quite a few heated discussions over that claim. But alot of people were basing it on Scarecrow being reduced to a potato sack on his head.

About that very first photo of the Joker Statue...I think the company that made it is a Japanese toy maker called Kotobukia.

The Animated Series Joker.

Love Heath's acting but I was never a fan of his emo Joker look.
