Infinity War Whose lack of screentime were you most disappointed with?

I wish Groot had more screen time.

In this movie

apart from helping with Stormbreaker, he didn't do very much. Teenage Groot doesn't seem to have as much of a presence as either adult Groot or Baby Groot.

It's because they're having to use a version who is virtually a new character here and hasn't had the chance to develop at all.

In that regard, they should've still been able to use Baby Groot. Gunn should have waited until Guardians 3 to age him up.

Imagine how much better it would've been if Baby Groot was in this movie and was the one who helped put Stormbreaker together with the axe handle.

And imagine how the audience would've felt if Baby Groot was the one who disintegrated after he had captured everyone's hearts in GOTG2.

I don't think teenage Groot probably had as many fans mourning his loss. Yes, I know people know the Guardians are coming back, but imagine how it would feel seeing Baby Groot go. It could've had the same reaction as those who saw Spider-Man disintegrate.

So yeah, I wish Baby Groot was in the movie instead of teenage Groot, who was too much in his own world playing Defender than really interacting with anyone.

Infinity War should've been an encore performance for Baby Groot, and then leave GOTG2 to develop teenage Groot.

[BLACKOUT]I don't think anything can beat his death in GOTG 1. The thing that got me the most in that scene was more Rockets pov, I felt worse for him seeing his best friend die again then for Groot. Baby Groot is cute but Adult Groot just had those genuine moments of caring for his teammates and others.

By the time Spidey's moment is done, that was always gonna hit the hardest. [/BLACKOUT]

This is all I have to say. Cap is my favorite, but, the Russo's did such an excellent job in writing and directing all of the characters in this, I honestly did not notice the absence of Cap because I was fully engaged with all the others. So, I am not disappointed by the slightest. Good job at fleshing out all of these characters Russo brothers. This was not an easy feat. And we still have part two to come out.

I wish Bucky had a bit more to do,
but his scenes with Rocket made up for it.

To be honest... No one really. I agree Cap sort of was just there to do cool stuff compared to what they did with other Avengers and heroes in play but that still didn't detract from the whole movie and given how it's obvious the story will continue (man... what was up with all the reviews that called this thing self contained?) I am sure they will give more spotlight to Cap in the next film. I mean... Did anyone else notice how the issues of CIVIL WAR were on the back burner for the most part? The resolution is probably going to be in A4.

I sure hope so.

I had hoped we'd have a longer discussion (or back n forth) with Rhodes, Banner and the rest. Them explaining what went down. Or what Cap was up to over the years. Also with regard to Rhodey and Stark being the only Avengers.

Baby Groot would have been absolutely useless in this movie. That being said, I actually think Groot got more screentime than Captain America did in this. :o

Even Drax got more. Maybe even Mantis :loco:

Bucky pretty much was the driving force of Civil War so I’m ok with him not having as much focus here.

War Machine definitely didn’t get any love. I would have loved to have seen how he and Rhodes felt about Wakanda.

It'll probably be the opposite in Avengers 4. I doubt we'll see a lot from the Guardians in that, but Cap will be one of the key characters again.

You mean he and Falcon? I kept waiting for that. Like a back and forth with them being completely NUTS over Wakanda.

Yes him and Falcon. I know this was more about action but I expected Falcon to have some sort of commentary on Wakanda being such a futuristic African city.

I feel like there was a bunch of stuff cut in Wakanda in between the Avengers' arrival and the battle. Namely the Bruce/Natasha scene while he's working on the Hulkbuster armor from the first trailer. They didn't take the time to breathe. Thanos's army arrived literally minutes after they did.

Baby Groot wasn't even big enough to be Stormbreaker's handle let alone help make it lol... tho the idea of baby Groot actually being the handle the hole time would have been kinda funny, Thor just keeps talk the hammer handle, and seeing baby Groots reaction while the hammer is fling around and spining lol

I wouldn't have minded the lack of Hulk so much if it wasn't for all the use of him in trailers and posters...

I mean, there were scenes in trailers with him at the Wakanda battle, no?

were those just put in as misdirection/or was him not being there a last minute change ?

I concur. At least 10 mins worth.

I wanted to see the Avengers dialogue with T'Challa and seeing Bucky again.

Surely Falcon and Bucky would have had some things to say to one another. Or BW speaking to T'Challa about this or that. And of course Falcon/WM reacting to Wakanda.

I'd have liked to see their reactions to meeting Shuri with someone making the comment "Tony would love this girl"

It's not the lack of screentime so much as the lack of character exploration/evolution in general. They all just sort of...were there.

This is very much true. I just hope we have a director's cut released when it comes out on DVD. But then again, I wish Disney wouldn't be so scared and go ahead with a strong 3 or 4 hour MCU movie. The fans deserve it, since we go for the characters, and not so much the action.

Yeah, this movie could have easily added another 10-15 minutes to the movie (namely the Earth scenes with Team Cap) and it wouldn't have hurt it at all. Especially when I think about nearly three hour long movies like Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End that did much less with its time and dragged on much longer.

The Russos did say that Avengers 4 might be a longer film, though. I wouldn't mind that as a sendoff to a few of these characters we've come to love over the last 10 years.

I was def telling this to a co-worker. The film is 2hours 36 mins. It could have easily been 2hrs 50mins and it wouldn't have missed a beat. Hell, Lord of the Rings are over 3hrs and nobody complained at all.

I'd have loved 12mins devoted to Cap and the Gang (like half of the time prior to Wakanda) and the rest added to when they're in Wakanda and preparing for the battle and all of the Gang meeting the newbies there.
