To me... Godfather 3 is a really bad good film.

What I mean is... compared to your average picture... it's pretty damned good.
But compared to the other Godfather films... it's by FAR the weakest.

ah jeez. first of all, quote the part in my posts where i said my family's opinion is all that matters.

you asked if i checked the IMDB rating. no, i didn't. because i don't care enough to do so. and if you read back a few posts, you'll see i said i ENJOYED the godfather part 3. so it's not like i'm siding with my family or anything.

but this all roots back to when i said "everyone thinks the godfather 3 sucked". sorry if you didn't understand my exaggeration.

oh, and if everyone loves it so much, why is it listed on all those "worst sequels ever" lists, such as one recently published in entertainment weekly? which was fueled by online voters??

I must say... "The Godfather 3" is often cited as be a horrendous piece of crap.
I don't think that's altogether just... but still...

the only thing one can expect is better action sequences and better special fx and more spidey action....

otherwise it's the same lame version of spider-man 1 and 2... just different villians and different plot. Nothing new to the characters, and more unneccessary changes.

I think X-3 was the "Return of the Jedi" of the X-Men series...
...it was still a good film... but deeply flawed and below the level of the first two.

Their only worried about Spidey 3 going downhill b/c X-Men just went downhill at #3. All I can say is Spider-Man 3 is in much better shape than X3 ever was! People who kept up with the news and such would know why for god sakes.

I see no reason to worry. Raimi knows what he's doing. and the films not being rushed. Sony actually cares about this Franchise.

Why? Because some DC fans have nothing better to do with their time than put down the S-M fans by influencing their minds into thinking that this could turn out to be like their crappy Superman 3 and Batman & Robin movies. Maybe they're afraid that if Spider-Man 3 is a great movie it could undoubtably be the greatest superhero franchise ever. So some of them are hoping that won't be the case. Expect to see more stupid threads like S-M 3/Batman & Robin comparisions or the so called trilogy curse in the future.

Well, just look at Blade: Trinity, X3, Supes 3, Batman Forever, they were all the worst of their respective fanchises up until that point, so i think it is a genuine concern for Spidey 3. However, i think Spidey 3 has a lot more plus points than any of these movies ever had during their production, not to mention the same director or did the excellent first two. So while i have a slight worry, i'm not as worried as i was for X3 or Blade: Trinity.

you would think those would be enough but tbh it doesn't really mean anything in the overall quality of a movie, I mean look at the alien franchise each movie had a great director, great production value and the same lead actress who made the original a sequel, yet every one after the 2nd movie pretty much sucked.

same goes with matrix, godfather and many others...theres just too many factors that go into the production of a movie to be certain on what will make it a quality movie until it is complete...I have alot of faith however that spider-man 3 will not let us down and will make one of the most succesful triologies in cinema

There is always some degree of concern because there are alot of franchises that stumbled on part 3. I don't think there is reason to panic with Spidey 3 because the same basic formula is at work.

I'll settle for great. It doesn't have to be top 3 or 5. Outclassing movies like Spidey 2, Batman Begins, X-men etc..will be a tall order.
