Why are so many women getting tattoos?

How do you feel about women with tattoos?

  • Look sexy/hot!

  • Some/most look nice

  • Don't care either way

  • Leaning towards "whateva"/not liking the fad

  • Think pretty disgusting/trashy

Exactly...screw those nose/lip rings...none of those women would look any worse without the tattoos...finding slim, nice figure women...throwing ink on them...and using that to justify tattoos is so silly argument.

His argument is that he thinks they look nice. How is that silly?

Saying that there's anything wrong with women getting tattoos or that they represent the moral decay of society or that it's too masculine and they should be more feminine is a silly argument. It's also a sexist argument and a needlessly judgmental argument.

There's nothing wrong with getting tattoos. A woman getting a tattoo is not hurting anyone, not even herself. Not all women get tattoos to rebel or to beg for people's attention. Most of them do it because they think tattoos are kind of cool. They think they look nice, they think the idea of permanently getting a word or symbol that has some meaning to them tattooed into their skin is just kind of neat. They're not immoral or emotionally scarred. They just like something that doesn't really have an appeal to you. That's fine. There are a lot of people who like things that you don't have an interest in, that doesn't mean they're bad people or that there's anything wrong with their interest. Thinking otherwise is very immature.

And thinking that there's a way that women are "supposed" to behave and when they start behaving in a way that men are "supposed" to behave is just sexist. It's not admitting fact of life, it's saying that people shouldn't engage in harmless activities that don't correspond with the activities people that have the same kind of genitals they do usually engage in because it, for some reason, makes you uncomfortable. That's really immature too.

But the real question is...Why the **** do you care?
I mean,
There's plenty of tattoo less, bible thumping, simple women out there who aren't swayed by the lure of equality, and have no desire to express themselves in any way.
Just waiting for a man like yourself so that they can feel whole and bear children( The only thing that wermuns are sposed tuhdo right?)

Gender roles! **** yeah!

brb
Going to kill a bear and chop some wood.

Which is the better picture? This is what this thread should be filled with. Comparison of same woman with and without tattoos. Which would you date and which would you run away from?

Well, since I don't know the girl personally I can't say wether or not I'd date her, with or without tattoos. But I wouldn't run away from either. The facial tattoos are kind of weird looking, but whatever man. She's still pretty cure, and if she's a cool person I'll enjoy hanging out with her. I don't run away from people just because they look weird, that's really childish.

So utterly ridiculous.

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo for ages. I want to get the word 'hope' in Kryptonian, very small down by my ankle.

That is not because I am 'making a statement' to the world or attention seeking or rebelling or trying to be more masculine.

It is because I love Superman, I love everything he stands for (obviously hope being a major one of those), and I'd love to commit to that in a way that will stay with me forever. Until the day I die, I will have 'hope'.

Now you can think that's all very silly and stuff, I don't mind. And I may not actually get the tattoo, cause i'm not a particularly daring person (never had any peircings, never died my hair adventurous colours or had dreds or anything like that), but if I did it would be a subtle and personal statement.

It wouldn't be disgusting.

I got Raphael from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tatooed on the back of my shoulder, and a sai on my thigh, and to boot, they were stenciled in by my boyfriend, from all the way in Australia. I got them as kind of a rememberance to never loose my child hood, and I tend to keep them covered and only seem to show them when the BF is around, so I am hardly seeking attention.

But even then, aren't there religions that actually require tatoo work? I doubt they are doing it for attention or because it's a trend.

What Sentinelmind doesn't know about that girl is that she volunteers everyday at a soup kitchen and reads to the elderly on the weekends. Also, she just cured cancer.

What's gross isn't that she has a tattoo. It's that her face is all puffy and bloody. That's the gross part.

If her face is like that because she just got a tattoo, well, yeah, that does happen right after you get a tattoo. It clears up really quickly though.

If her face is like that because she fell or got hit by something, than what does that have to do with anything?

And what do you mean by "this is reality?" It's not like people with tattoos are constantly bloody and puffy around the area where their tattoo is. 99% of the time they're not.

This thread shouldn't be filled with anything because it shouldn't exist. This is like the short bus of threads. All the other threads make fun of it for its utter fail.

Finding the most extreme grotesque examples of tattoos is not a fair argument.

Thinking someone is in "moral decay" because they have tattoos impressively manages to trump sexual orientation for pettiest, shallowest reasons to judge someone's morals.

I have an aunt who thumps her Bible at everyone and says people with tattoos are freaks. She also lies and steals, and dumped her dog by the roadside in the middle of nowhere when it got hold.

I have a female friend who has multiple tattoos and adds more on a regular basis. She is a hard-working, honest, sympathetic person who doesn't lie to or steal from anyone and takes in abandoned dogs, keeps some of them for herself, and helps the others find homes.

The dirty, filthy, morally decaying tattooed freak is leaps and bounds a more respectable individual than Auntie Bible Thumper any day of the week, in my book. There's no question which one I trust more (the latter I don't trust at all).

Everything you said is perfect. The moment I read the first post I was disgusted but this redeems a bit of faith in mankind.

Anyone is free to rebel....tattoos tend to symbolize aggression...typically not attractive in a woman...

Let's see, here's a list of the tattoos I have and you can tell me how each one represents aggression.
-A bleeding yin-yang surrounded by thorns symbolizing the blood we she'd to achieve balance in our lives
-"Bloodshed before balance" in Korean, a translation of the first one and also embroidered on my black belt.
-Two dragons with their tails intertwined in infinity to symbolize infinite imagination.
-A tribal equilateral cross to represent my wife and the peace she always brings me.
-A 7 of hearts and 6 of spades representing the year I was born.

I'm also working on two more to honor my daughters. A G clef for one and a puzzle piece shooting fireworks for the other.

Please, tell me how this shows my moral decline.

Because your body is a temple and you're defecating on it.

uhmm..nearly all of them...dragons, thorns, bloodshed, spade intersecting a heart? It's your choice and i ain't stoppin you but that's what it sounds like to me...

but I'm cool with you and everyone here though...on to see Iron Man 3..

but finding supermodels who happen to have tattoos is?

I think the fair thing to do is put out a challenge.....find a pair of pics from the same person where the pic with tattoos looks better than pic without tattoos...

just one pair...

hopefully I don't have to wait long...

You posted a picture of a woman with a tatted face. Tattoos on face is not the same as a woman having tattoos. Probably less than 0.1% of people who get tattoos get them on their face. You complained about the "trend" of women getting tats, but hardly anyone is getting their face tatted, so posting that picture was a dishonest representation of your argument.

Although I still wouldn't judge someone if they did want to get their face tatted, except to advise them they might have trouble getting a job. But I've yet to see a woman on the street who has facial tattoos. Have you?

Where did I say the spade intersected the heart? Also, I explained the thorns and bloodshed represent hardships in life and the struggles we go through. The dragon is an imaginary creature that signifies strength. Adding the infinity symbol symbolizes the power of infinite imagination. How are you twisting that into aggression?

...

Make sure you're right about that. You wouldn't believe how many martial arts jocks I've seen with "Spicy pork rib stew with salted turnip" tattooed across their back.

...so since we're at the picture posting stage...can anyone post a few inked redheads?
