Cap needs to be big. He also needs to be played by a young actor to increase the life of the franchise. Also...He was 18 when he enlisted...that was 1941. WWII ended in 1945 which makes him about 24. Let's assume he was frozen in ice a year before the bomb to Japan, that makes him only 23.

By the way, he isn't really a Captain in the Army. It's only a name. You have to have a college degree to be a captain and go to Officer Candidate School. He did neither. He was a propoganda venture for the US.
