The Dark Knight Rises Why doesnt Nolan give more nods/easter eggs to the fans?

The reason is because Nolan is setting the standard, he is what the nods will be. When you give nods, you are acknowledging that something else is better. Little indy flicks do this all the time and joke about it, but really it just proves that they're taking their material from eslewhere. Even though that's what Nolan is doing, he's reinventing it, so that's why he wouldn't have little nods.

Besides, do you REALLY want it to turn into an egg-fest like the Marvel movies where every single one has a Stan Less cameo? I don't, I like Nolan being a "my movie is better than anything ever" style of director and almost arrogantly not giving nods, I love it because his movie is that good.

Besides, he DOES give nods, just not obvious ones. He uses the rooftop and stack of money scenes from The Long Halloween as nods.

P.S. I saw intertextual nods to other films that inspired and/or influenced Mr. Nolan.

Most notably:

-Heat (at the beginning)
-The Big Heat (in the imagery of Dent's death)
-Shane (the ending)
-And many film noir kind of storytelling ideas implimented, though not overtly.

Ya if you have seen a lot of crime noirs you can see some of the influences on Nolans style in TDK.

I remember a rumor that in the press conference with Harvey Dent there was going to be a Clark Kent from the Daily Planet. I thought this would be cool at first but was quick to think to myself...man that would be lame as hell. I honestly don't care about nods as much as a quality film. Also less nods means less crazy threads here making theories like "Mr. Earle = Mr. E! IS RUTGER HOWARD IS THE NEW RIDDLER!"

Well there was a thread a little while ago that listed various nods to Batman Year One and various other comics, but whats the point of the easter egg.

My favourite one was the reference to Eddie Brock by JJJ and Johnston about trying to get a picture of spiderman in the first Spiderman movie. Only in the third film you find out that they must have been talking about someone else called Eddie because Topher Grace's character was new to the Bugle.

Unless there is a point to it, leave it out the film is fantastic without them anyway.

I created this thread and people are saying I'm bashing TDK. geeze, guys. I loved the movie. I saw it four times. I'm just asking a question about Nolan's lack of comic nods. Yes, I know Batman saving James Jr. is a nod to Year One. I read the comic. I know Bruce's scarred back is lifted out of War on Crime and Nolan used a lot of Long Halloween and The Killing Joke.... any ways, I just think Raimi did a cool thing when including Dr. Conners in all three Spiderman films, and all the fans know he becomes the Lizard, so I was just wondering how/if Nolan could do something like that, and what you guys would want to see.

Nolan does include easter eggs. A lot. He's just prone to be subtler than Raimi in every possible aspect (he's British).

Remember in Batman Begins when we saw Fox for the first time? Anybody familiar with the character would say... "Well, that ain´t Fox. Fox is the one who runs things in Wayne Enterprises". And then, by the end of the movie.... voilá, we see Fox running things and taking over Earle's position.
The really subtle thing about him? The tie. In that little scene he uses the very same tie he has in his most iconic portrayal's in the comics. And that's a nod that only fans can get.

His easter eggs have a system... h's Bat-world it's still in its first years, so as the story progresses he show some details taht are exclusively from the comics. And those details tell us that we are entering into familiar territory. Into our known Bat-world.

The white eyes at the end of TDK are one very good example. But when they start malfunctioning... a better one.

To bad Earle isn't named Roman Sionis.

It would be very easy to set him up to be Black Mask from BB. Rutger Hauer should have the acting chops for such a role.

No one's saying you're bashing the film but why is it important that Nolan fill his movies with more nods? Too much obvious fanservice(which is what you wondering about) is unneccessary and adds nothing to the overall film.

Giving nods doesn't remotely achknowledge something is better. It's just a nod to its existence for fans. And I doubt anyone will be giving nods to the dark knight.
