World Why I love Spider-Man's costume

Superman's look never really wowed me.

it's TOO simplistic. Usually it's better, but his just comes off as unimaginative. Granted, it was a design from the 40s. That's why I was happy when I herd DC was rebooting/redesigning DC. I was hoping Supes new costume would be more original. All they did was recolor the belts, remove the trunk, add a collar and change the tights to armor. Meh.

Anyway...

Spider-Man's costume is awesome. Nuff said.

If you complain over too many lines, look at Spidey's costume in Edge of Time.

The webbing in that suit has a slightly sloppy feel to it. Like the pattern of a real web.

And it does look like it would be a pain in the ass to draw.

Actually Superman was introduced in the 30's. But looking at them side by side...

Spidey's suit makes better use of its colors and has more of a "pop" factor. It has a theatrical element along with the other traits I mentioned earlier. SUperman's is just really plain.

The sloppy web patterns is how Marko Djurdjevic draws the suit, I think they used his work for inspiration here.

I honestly feel that Spider-Man has the greatest costume in comics. Here are my reasons in no particular order.
1. Perfect concealment. As a superhero who's trying to protect his identity, you can't go wrong here. No fingerprints are left anywhere. His hair, nose, mouth and even his eyes are completely covered. There could be a black guy or an Asian guy under there for all you know.
2. Supports his theme perfectly. Some characters' outfits tell you nothing about them. The spider motif is clear throughout here. A spider symbol on the front and back, webs on the face, webs on the chest-this is just the right level of theatricality and keeping with the name.
3. Has an air of mystery. In this case I'm referring to the hidden goodies like his web shooters and utility belt. How many times has somebody subdued Batman and the first thing they do is go for his belt? It's prominent, it's brightly colored, it's begging for attention. By contrast a casual observer wouldn't even know that Spidey is wearing one. I tend to think Ditko was trying to create the illusion that the webbing might be organic, keeping its source out of view.
4. No trunks. I really hate trunks.
5. Great use of color. Many costume designs are just solid from top to bottom, apart from the symbol and maybe the gloves and boots. I think this is what makes some people think the trunks are necessary to break up the color scheme. Here it's nicely distributed, with the web markings confined to the red areas. The red and the blue stand out in their own way, and no additional colors are employed that might make the uniform gaudy.
6. Distinctive through and through. If all you could see was Spider-Man's arm, you'd know it was his arm. If you look at his foot you know it's his foot.
All in all this is an intelligent design, which most characters don't even come close to.

I could make the exact same points about Iron Man's costume/armor. Not that I don't like Spidey's look as well.

Beautiful

Iron Man has trunks, his suit grew bulky since the Silver Centurion, mouth and eyes still appear when you stand next to him, no more mystery since everyone knows who is Tony Stark, the man behind Iron Man

There's no theme to Iron Man, either. He's armored. That's his theme. It's not like he has a big "Fe" on his chest. And there's no air of mystery as it's obviously a piece of tech, and certain weapons/devices are quite prominent.

For a moment there I thought you were mistaken and thought iron is "Au"
Being light headed for brief moments makes one lose sense a bit

This is what we need if/when we get another reboot. Classic suit(with a bright blue color), BLACK webbing, comic-adapted logo, black thick lenses around white eyes, web shooters hidden away under the wrists of the suit. Or, heck, if they do decide to use organic webbing once more, at least have the webshooters there to guide the webbing and make it stronger when it is released.

Haven't we learned our lesson? People hoped for a reboot, wanted black webbing, and look what we got.

No one wanted a totally different suit though, but that's what we got.

And besides, for the most part, the new suit has everything that I just asked for...we have a brighter blue, black webbing, thicker lenses and webshooters.

If those elements make a good Spidey suit, then this should be perfect.

1-on what planet?
2-I don't even know why you brought this over here. This belongs in one of the movie-related threads.

1.) You were obviously being sarcastic with what I said of what the new suit got right, so why can't I? Haha.

2.) I didn't bring it here...all I said is what the next kind of suit needs...it was this

that made me say what the new suit accomplished.
