World Why I love Spider-Man's costume

Then what do you want? An exact copy of the Raimi suit?

No. I want an aesthetically pleasing suit. I didn't get that. I got an eyesore that I grow to hate more each time I see it.

But you just said "Haven't we learned anything?" right after Anno said he wanted a suit with brighter colors, thicker lenses and darker webs for the next reboot. That is the classic costume, still.

I meant "Haven't we learned anything" in terms of wishing for a change.

We didn't get that. We got something further removed with ONLY the two elements that the Raimi haters were asking for.

No, I didn't mean the reboot suit, I was talking about the "next reboot" suit if it had the changes Anno mentioned. THAT would reflect the original suit. The reboot suit...yeah, well...it doesn't.

What socool said.

I am only referring to the next reboot and those are some changes that would make the suit look completely perfect.

Raimi had some rights in the suit, but also wrongs.

And the same for Webb.

Combined the rights on both suits and we'd get something amazingly perfect.

Ehh, I guess so. I don't remember what that suit looks like anymore, but I did really like TSSM's suit.

This is where you and I emphatically disagree. I feel that the Raimi suit had NO "wrongs" and the Webb suit NO rights. When I look at this image,

I see Spider-Man. I feel like I am looking at my favortie comics character come to life. This looks like the costume I have loved for decades, with all of the elements outlined in my initial post. They didn't change his look; they only enhanced it. And it's beautiful. There isn't one single thing that I would change.
But when I see this,

I see a pretender, a knock-off, a wanna-be. Something with the very basic premise of a Spider-Man costume but none of its heart. This is the kind of abomination that I feared Hollywood was going to inflict on us 10 years ago, when I first saw Alex Ross' rejected designs. Instead we got a masterpiece, and then they turn around and downgrade it just for the sake of making something different.
You may get over it, I did

It's been 6 months and I still feel the same way, so I doubt it.

Another reason to love it; virtually unchanged since 1962. Clearly they got it right the first time.

I agree with what you said about his costume. It's my favorite comic book character look by far, and I loved what Raimi's movies did with it.

Enhanced everything I already loved about it-that's what they did.

I hate how a few people here seem to be expressing their opinion about the reboot suit as fact. :\

If you like it, fair enough. If you don't, fair enough.

Everybody is entitled to their opinions.

To me, in terms of faithfulness, it has to be the Raimi suit. If we're talking about pulling the costume in to a slightly modern setting, I'll have to go with the reboot suit. I love the texture, the eyes... everything.

best eyes: rick leonardi
best spider emblem on chest: michael golden
best webs throughout suit: steve ditko
best spider on back (that really looks more like a tick): john romita, sr.
best overall webslinger: john romita, jr.

Just like when they first showed us pictures of Raimi's Raised webbing Spidey suit, I wasn't on board for that look at all, it took a lot of getting use to that. But It did grow on me. I'm not the biggest fan of the new reboot costume, but with more and more pictures and video being released, it to is growing on me, and I'm sure I'll love it on the big screen and in my toy collection. Eh, I'm old and unhealthy, so I've been learning to take life in stride and not get too upset about things.

Keep On Thwipin'!!!

my main issue with the raimi suit (true inner super-geek about to be released) was the eyes. just never really got into them, either the shape, or the borders around them. sort of ambivalent about the raised webbing. i guess i was so pleased that it was mostly intact that i didn't get into to much of an uproar about it. i think the face sheild under the mask kinda bugged me, too. i always loved the way nicholas hammonds mask hugged his face. the spider on the back was an improvement, however, and was an actual spider, something that, as a spider purist, i like to see.

I love Spider-Man's costume because, like the best superhero costumes, it fits the character. The red and blue attract the eye and are befitting Spidey's jovial personality.

Oddly, he originally wore red and black. But like Batman and so many others, he fell victim to lazy inking and misinterpretations resulting from said lazy inking, and blue became his staple color.
