Why Must Everything Come Down To Racism?

Does anyone actually know why Ernie Hudson (Winston) is not in that Ghostbusters picture?

"But being a scientologist... when you drive past a lynching, it's not like anyone else... it's you drive past, you know you have to do something about it because... you know you're the only one that can really help." -Tom Cruise on racism

It looks to be from the poster from the first movie, where the bigger draws were Aykroyd and Murray, and the character Winston didn't have as big a role as the other Ghostbusters. I doubt it has any racist intent, but you never know, I guess.

Yep. The first film is mainly those 3 setting up the Ghostbusters, and Winston doesnt actually come in to it till quite a lot later, when the Ghostbusters are set up, successful and making quite a lot of money, So it is quite understandable really.

.....though that doesn't explain why he isnt on the cover for the original VHS release of Ghostbusters 2, as he was a proper memeber of the team for the whole of that film.

When I was 5 and it was the first day of school, there was an Indian kid in my class. He looked different so I had a low opinion of him. Then when it came to playtime I talked to him, found out we both loved the Ninja Turtles, and became best friends.

I think there is a deep-rooted fear of people that are different from you, but I think that people quickly learn to accept difference as well. It's about experience. Had that kid been someone I didn't like, maybe I would've turned out different.

It's a good thing that kid liked ninja turtles. Who coincidently I don't like because they are green.

TV shows like the fresh prince of bel air seldom had a white character in it, much less one who was a leading white character. White people do not complain over this.
Actually that's not true at all. I've always felt that there should have been at least one white person in this black family.

I'm sure theres a reasonable explanation why Winston is not in that picture either, or why his name is not on the cast list at the bottom (Ernie Hudson) i'm just not surewhat it is. That said i dont think it's a racist reason at all.

I think its because of name value. I think the other stars were more known at the time .
