Will anyone be disappointed if X3 isn' as good as X2?

I'm excited for this movie either way, its going to be awesome. I'm thinking positive people :]
The special affects look brilliant and Wolverine looks awesome, plus a couple of other things happen in the movie that I'm excited for. So yes I think its going to rock.

I know it's opinion. And everyone's entitled. But, I just find it odd that when X2 was released, there wasn't a question as to which one was superior. What has changed in the last 3 years since it's release?

The more I read of people's posts about why this movie is going to be awesome, the more it seems it's all about the effects . . . that's what's wrong with movies anymore--it's all about the effects and nothing else, and the excitement over effects lasts for a minimal amount of time because we've seen them all before, and then they are outdone.

Exactly, BMM.

I want the effects and action as well but it has to have a story and characters for that action and effects to work.

It was balanced reasonably well in the first two films. It sounds like it isn't although long time comic book fans get that comic book action they've been wanting.

Personally, give me story and character WITH the great action any day. Why does it have to be one or the other? Why not both?

I'm not excited about effects. I'm excited about a thought provoking story. I'm excited about the ramafications that the Phoenix's action will cause from her friends/her enemies.

i knew since i saw x2 that even if x3 was directed by singer it would never be as good as x2.

x2 was special because it was the first real superhero movie to succeed and exceed every single aspect of the original. also i dono i jus fell in love with the plot of x2 and in trilogies the second act is always the deepest and most plot driven of all 3. the first is an into and the third is the climax. I really like very plot driven and deep movies wich is what x-men 2 was. But does that mean x3 will sucK? not at all in fact im sure it will almost match x2 in my books. all x3 has to do is finish the story and be a good conclusion with deaths on both sides, lots of action and a good plot. x3 has all of these covered and more im sure so i expect it to be a very good conclusion to the x-men trilogy.

now for everyone concerned about the length. This is the third act and the third act doesnt need intro to plot or character or much character development. it just has to finish everything. its longer then x men 1 by 1 or 2 minutes and usually a third act is shorter then a first act so we can still be happy about that. im sure the majority of us will come out very happy with this movie and think it was a totally awesom climax and not even notice the length.

lord of the rings trilogy was another good example of how the third act (return of the king) can be the best and still be the least plot driven (its essentially one long climax) although it is longer then the others so that aspect doesnt apply.

so in short will this movie be as good as x2? not quite but most likely very close
will i be dissapointed? definently not

The problem with the most of you saying it doesn't have character development are pretty much, just upset that Cyclops doesn't get development/Rogue/Angel/Etc. Because your favorite isn't exactly moving foward does not mean this movie will SUCK.

Not every character gets development in every movie/TV show. There are completely episodes where they remain unchanged.

cyclops was not really in 1 or 2 so i didnt expect him to play a role in 3 and since there has to be deaths id say hes a perfect candidate to die even if hes a very cool character. this is another thing i dont think people will care about while they watch the movie.
