Transformers will Energon factor into the plot?

I wouldn't say they're drawing from all those storylines exactly. It's just that there's so many of them that you can't help but find similarities between 2 hours worth of movie and a zillion hours/pages worth of cartoon/comic. Although if two grown men like Roberto & Alex can sit through a couple of seasons of RID I'd have to commend them for their bloody mindedness. ;)

It's a bit like Bumbleebee morphing from a banger to a flash muscle car. Did Goldbug inspire that? Probably not but they needed two alt-modes for Bumblebee otherwise their story wouldn't work. Something like that would be a coincidence IMO.

On the other hand they clearly said they were looking for easter eggs so some of the more obvious nods to those shows are less likely to be a coincidence.

They are drawing something from every storyline. Megatron being experimented on happened in GI Joe vs. Transformers. It's still something that happened and gives predecent to that idea. It doesn't mean they use every single thing in the story, just pull something from each storyline. So far they're drawing on something from:
G1, G2, TF: Universe, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, G1 Comics, GI Joe vs. TF Comics, and Dreamwave Comics.

Energon - It's a race to see who can get the most, who can get enough to get back to Cybertron the fastest and best equipped, and who can be powered up enough to win the war. That's they way it was for the first little bit and at different points of the TF G1 Cartoon. That's why I referred to it as a race.

Thank you for clearing these matters for me:) .
