If they chose to go this route, they can kill 3 birds with one peanut:

1. Bring in Evil Superman.

2. Sidestep Evil Superman by having him be a knockoff.

3. Have Kal go toe to toe with Evil Superman in a re-imagining of the Superman movie canon ala Superman III.

All of that wrapped into one can make for a pleased fanbase as we'll be getting everything that was teased or presented with Clark coming out on top as the one true Superman all along without him becoming evil to begin with.

I don't think he'll turn evil, but I do think he'll be a bit confused or out of control. We do know that part of the plot involves the Justice League actively trying to revive Superman:

And the latest trailer seemed to show the team inside the scout ship area (white walls just like when Lex entered in BvS), so my guess is that they bring his body there to revive him Doomsday style, he goes berserk because they revived him Doomsday style, and then perhaps they subdue him or he flies off. I don't think they'll have him be evil now. Back when this was supposed to be a two-part story, definitely. But now? I don't think so.

It would be cool to see the Flash being the one to revive Superman by manifesting his electric energy and using it as some sort of EKG mechinism powerful enough to at least get the process started. That would be a sweet visual by everything we've seen of the Flash's speed and lighting so far.

Considering this universe's arc so far and also the audience/fan criticisms of both MoS and BvS, but more so BvS, it would be ****ing moronic for them to do that.

I completely agree. Given that Superman was a bit mopey but decent in MOS and then pretty unsympathetic (except perhaps when he was nearly getting murdered by Batman.....and that statement itself is telling about what sort of film B v S was) well, I think WB/DC need to have a really likeable Superman that audiences can cheer for (which we haven't had in the DCU so far).

They managed to do that in the Supergirl TV show, so it really isn't that hard. If they were going to do an Evil Superman they would have needed to do a really likeable Superman from the start of MOS ( I mean the good vs evil Superman scene is the only good part of Superman III, but only because Reeve's Superman was synonymous with good ).

Anyway, like the man said above the idea of having Superman return as evil, well IMO it's "****ing moronic"

I could totally see it happening. The main reason being it's apart of the Superman movie mytho's and it ties in to what the DCEU has been doing with Supes and the signs of direction they could head in. Superman v Evil Superman could kill many birds with one stone with an applauding outcome. Not saying it's a done deal but I guess it's a possible scenario than just the whole "mind-controlled" thing.
