Beware, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice spoilers.

So here's a question I was wondering. In Justice League Part One, will Superman initially be a villain? Here is all we know so far. There has to be a payoff to the Knightmare sequence. Superman says that Batman is responsible for (presumably) Lois Lane's death. With the parademons and the omega symbol, Darkseid is involved. Future Flash tells Bruce Wayne that Lois Lane is the key, that he was right about "him" all along (presumably Superman), and that he has to find the members of the Justice League.

Discuss.

:smf:

So they would have to explain superman coming back to life, kill Lois off, make superman go bad and eventually be redeemed, and give us intros for the rest of the league? Yeah I'm going with a no on that.

please no. he deserves a proper return where he establishes himself as the leader of the League.

Yea exactly.. I mean Lois should exist but no one should care about her. She should only have cameo. Superman should be like classic superman.. Since he died everyone should realize his value and there has to be 0 skeptics and people hating him in JL.

I think they should just leave him as a similar to Christopher Reeve's superman & animated Bruce Timm superman now in Justice League. Give some sort of Jesus resurrection scene and thats it. We have already invested in his motivations and his character/origin story.
This movie needs more of the unknown league members.

While not a fan of the Superman we saw in BvS, I'm hoping they use his return and resurrection as a way to change him into the "real" superman. Kinda like a Gandolf the grey to gandalf the white transformation.

That is what I'm hoping for. If they bring him back even darker as a villian.. no.

If batman didn't help Superman and his mother had die than yes Superman would have been the villain from the future flash injustice time line. Because batman change the timeline by saving Marta Superman will be back good and the Superman we all know. No longer a conflicted Superman.

there were rumblings and fear from fans that Superman would die in BvS, which most us quickly denied. I'm not putting my money on him being a villain, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. That would certainly be another controversial choice for Snyder to make in JL.

Im just hoping Superman shows up at all... This crew is crazy enough to tell another whole film without Superman..... A gathering of the league where they cant overcome the threat..then at the conclusion, hope.. Superman rises ready to "finish the fight"

I'm pretty sure from what I get out of Snyder and Terrio's comments is that when he comes back he'll be the beacon of hope, the leader of the JL. This is his trilogy series from hope, to dark, to the light.

i'd say it's pretty clear, starting all the way back in mos, that he's going to be in gandalf the white/jesus mode. the son has sacrificed himself and now he will rise again. i'd be willing to be his costume will even pop with brighter blues and reds.

Yes. Make it happen. If the movie brighten up people will feel better and hopeful when Superman rerun in his glory shinny hovering in the sky.

When all hope is lost, Superman will make his entrance. That's what I'm hoping for in the JL movie. That's what I'm willing to bet is going to happen.

Just saying... In comics the New Gods have died and come back via their cosmic technology/magic. Could that bring him back and effect him?

They wouldn't dare.

A lot of people said the same thing when the idea was brought up about Zod being killed by Superman before MOS released....and they also said the same thing when the possibility of Superman dying in BvS came up.

Yeah, at this point, I feel like there isn't anything that is sacred or taboo to Snyder.

Too convoluted story. Beside, according Terrio JL 1 will be tonally lighter than BvS & MOS. It is an ensemble/team up film and this lend to lighter dynamics and relationship.

Unless of course Snyder decided to double down and make people like herolee10 frustrated to tear too much. :lmao:

Superman has killed and died before in the comics too. I don't see him acting out of character whatsoever in MOS and BvS either within the context of the story those movies were trying to tell.

This is the movieverse. A self contained elseworlds story. How many times must that be reiterated before purists understand that?

Hopefully all of you're right. I have no faith in Zack Snyder but I hope someone above him could see that killing Supes just to bring him back as a villain is the worst idea in the history of bad ideas.

And how many times will it be before fans of the movies understand that it's perfectly okay to dislike major stories in which the characters aren't particularly well represented?

And who gets to say when a character is well presented or not?

The Dark Knight Returns is one of the most critically acclaimed and selling comic books for example, Frank Miller's take on Batman gets adapted in this film.

Is this a well presented take on Batman? It's up to each individual.

Yes, and many individuals feel it was poor, and that's their right. That's what I'm saying.

Me too. He would literally become the embodiment of hope.

Henry Cavill is already in prep to act as a corpse for the entirety of JL 1 much like Michael Shannon as Zod's flippers, err corpse. :o

It's OK to dislike and bring arguments with it. Right now some people go - worst ever: CGI, plot, story, characterization, palette, tone, cinematography, dialogs, humor, casting, action, battle scenes, director, studio. And how should we, who liked the film, react to it?
