The Dark Knight Will the Batmobile return or be completely redesigned?

I actually think one of the things Nolan originally had in mind for his three Batman films was to first place Batman in the real world, without all the things that on the surface seem ridiculous (Batmobile, costumed supervillains, etc), and work toward those things gradually, and have them all make sense by the end of the third film. I wouldn't be shocked if by the end of the third film we have an actual Batmobile, a fully functioning Batcave, costumed supervillains, and a Gotham straight out of the comics. If that was Nolan's plan, I applaud him for it. Instead of taking the easy way out, and just having Gotham start off with one foot firmly planted outside reality like Burton, where a Batmobile, colorful supervillains, etc. all seem perfectly normal, he decided to show how the city went from point a to point b.
I highly agree with you, especially about a Gotham straight out of the comics.
This way we could see the city of Gotham evolved into a totally new character. And I'm glad Joker was used in the "second act" of this trilogy because the Joker could be seen as the transition between the old Gotham and the new Freak Gotham.

WHAT ARE YOU DENSE? ARE YOU ******ED OR SOMETHING!? THE GODDAMN BAT-BIKE!

Now that's impressive! :funny:

The new Gotham opens the door in the Nolanverse, allowing for possibly, a greater stretch of what is or is not realistic. Then again, that's also a perfect blueprint for how a Batman series can go from dark and realistic to ultra-bright and campy. The third film has to carefully balance that line.

Oh, and I would bet the farm on a new Batmobile. What are the odds of a Batman film without a car at least in a couple scenes? I would guess out with the tumbler, in with something totally unique. They need to make the toys for the tots during promotion you know...

I say he keeps the Batpod for a while. It looks cool.
Regarding other vehicles, I'd like to see the Batboat and I honestly think the only Batplane/Batwing we'll ever get in the Nolan series was in this one.

Or he could have the Bat-Pinto.

Give me the Batmobile from "Batman and the Monster Men." It looks like the Tumbler, but sleek and majorly kickass.

I know this is off-topic, but I see people talking about it, so what the hey. In my opinion Lucious Fox will have a smaller role if any in the third and will be retired. He had never actually seen Bruce Wayne dress up or be Batman and saw Bruce Wayne as Thomas Wayne's slightly-off but good-intentioned son who is out to help people.

He like Bruce at the beginning, probably did not realize this was going to be a permanent lifetime crusade that would become more complicated and murky. Bruce is using him more and more throughout TDK and starting to go behind his back. In their last scene together Bruce has used his resources to construct a new technology device that Fox had nothing to do with (other than giving Wayne the idea for it, unintentionally) and something Fox did not approve of. This wasn't Bruce coming to Fox for help, but Batman having taken over as the dominant persona and taking steps beyond Fox's ethical code on his war on crime.

When they meet Bruce is dressed like Batman and talks like Batman (his more calm and less theatrical voice, but still Batman). He is in the shadows and more the Batman than the billionaire and has crossed the ethical line and seemed to becoming auto-efficient without Fox's help. Fox had seen how far down the rabbit hole Bruce Wayne is fallen and is now Batman who does things without Fox's help and I think it scared him a little bit. He knew the machine was wrong, but he also thought for the first time that Bruce himself was maybe too-off and doing more harm than good. He then said he'd use the machine "just this once" but Batman could consider this his resignation. Bruce did not argue this, but rather Batman just said "type your name when you're finished." He is accepting Fox's resignation and simply told him how to destroy the machine. Batman walks away and that is the last time the two men are on the screen together and it is a scene between Fox and a symbol, Batman, and not Bruce Wayne.

that is why I think if he does show up in the third it will be in a small part of a retired inventor giving Bruce a new toy or helping him with designs reluctantly. But the point is that Batman is alone at the end of TDK. He chooses to be. He is punishing himself over Dent, but also because he lost his faith with how Dent died (like in Dark Victory) I think and now doesn't even have Jim Gordon's public support anymore. He lost Lucius and is alone without anyone other than Alfred. Batman is a one man army now and has lost his way a little bit. He is lost inside his "monster" as Alfred said in Batman Begins and wants to be that way to satisfy his psychic needs and guilt as both Joker and Rachel eluded to in The Dark Knight.

Just my two cents.

It's kind of tough to go forward from the Tumbler You either have to go more tank.. OR go to a flying car IMO.

I don't think a flying car is out of the realm of possibility right now(ESPECIALLY if money was no object).. all you would have to do to convince the audience is to show them recent history.. the Harrier.. the V-22 Osprey.. etc..

What is funny is when BB came out, I had posted that I loved the movie, but that Bruce Could easily be found out as Batman from the Tumbler being a Wayne Industries military concept. I almost laughed in the theater when that came to pass in this film. However, more people would have recognized the car from the first night he used it. The care just didn't appear out of the ether. There was a whole team that had worked on it, and a lot of those parts were custom made by other manufacturers. Also, the military would have known about it and had a whole team signed to it. There also would have been sub-committee's on it during the manufacturing and testing phase. Man I got attacked for posting it. But I am glad they addressed that in this film.

I personally don't want to see him modifying a sports car. Most foreign cars brought in to the US have a code on them and are easy to track who bought them. I would like to see him modify it but not use the shell if he does. But I would rather see a whole new car.

I like the Bat-pod so I see no real reason for a new Batmobile but if it is needed a totally new design sorta like the new one in Batman RIP

Fox said that as long as that machine was at Wayne Enterprises, he wouldn't be. When the machine destroyed itself, Fox had his "faith restored". He then had no reason to resign.

I would like to see the Tumbler return....With only slight modifications.

There will be a new Batmobile...no doubt about it.

Batpod>Tumbler

I love the Tumbler, but I'd love to see something new, too. Surprise me with your creativity, Nolan. Take risks!

Morgan Freeman said him and Michael Caine signed on for a third film he said this on The View so he will be back.

I love the Tumbler, and was sad to see it go. I do hope that if they have a new Batmobile it will be based on the Tumbler. Sorta like a modified Tumbler. Tell me what Batmobile could have torn through that concrete on that parking garage at the beginning of TDK besides the tumbler, and looked good doing it. If the Batmobile from Batman 89 would have don that I wouldn't have believed it for a second. The reason for the Tumbler was it served a purpose. I durable vehicle to use in tough spots, and tough spots require tough vehicles. Why would Batman need to cruise around in a sexy hotrod? He can do that as Bruce. At night Batman wants to be intimidating and powerful. The Tumbler is tough, intimidating, and powerful.:)

I want the Tumbler back. Just a bit more sleeker but having that "Strong" look.

I kinda wish he didn't float around like he does, because now there's no need for the Batwing, which I always preferred over all his other toys. That being said, I suppose there will be no vehicles or gadgets without Fox returning, and who knows if that'll happen

Am I the only one who thinks the Tumbler is a bad idea? He's driving a freaking TANK! A TANK!!! What's so freaking stealth about A TANK!? Seriously, go with the lambourghini with some modifications to make it look more like the batmobileand a lot more armoured.

Subtle fins like in this:http://wallpapes.ru/data/media/508/batmobile_animated_series_by_dvnc.jpg only it's connected via a spoiler to make it look more realistic would definitely work.

You know while that thing might work int he animated series; just makes no sense in the real world. WTF is under that huge hood? Does Batman rent that out to small family? You'd have to have Robin stand on the front of the hood just to see what the heck is in front it you. :woot:

I think the Tumbler design made a lot of sense in the movie. It has all the features Batman would need (armor, jet assist..etc) and they all came part of the package being it's originally a military prototype.

My guess is the tumbler will be back. Possible they make some slight body modifications (someone already mentioned the slightly modified Tumbler in the "Gotham Knight" movie) and add features; but the real Tumblers were not blown up and there's really no point in redesigning something that works well.

Why do people still think Fox is gone?

Fox said he wouldn't be there (at Wayne Enterprises) as long as the machine was. Since the machine was destroyed, his one condition was satisfied. Bruce knew Lucius wouldn't be keen to the idea in the first place which is why he added the failsafe to the system - namely, typing LUCIUS FOX into the computer.

Also, when he types in his name, the voiceover says, "...faith will be rewarded..."

It can't get much clearer than that.

I don't know, so many of the people i know kept asking me "DID FOX REALLY QUIT?!" (After a short explanation) "oh.... I HAVE TO SEE IT AGAIN!"

With soaring gas prices, even billionaire crime fighters are looking to save a buck.

I'd like the Tumbler to come back but I don't mind if Nolan went off on his creative tangent and thought up something else.

Fox is done helping Wayne with all of his gadgets, but you never know what could happen with that.

but since Bruce would be on his own and would have to design it, it most likely be a sports car loaded with weapons because i don't think he can design another tumbler, but the sports car idea is a few steps down from the tumbler....

i say rebuild the tumbler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
