The Dark Knight Will the Batmobile return or be completely redesigned?

I'm all for a new, sleek ride. There should only be the Batplane or Batboat if there is an actual need for them, not because they'll look cool or sell well when their miniaturized and set in rows at your local Walmart. It the Nolanverse, it's all about function...as long as we keep it that way, i'm good.

That might work.

The next thing will be either the Batwing or a Bat copter. but I bet it is the bat wing. If you look at the video on Comcast about Bruce, the narration talks about Wayne personally buying stealth propeller technology, as well as other technology. I can't see them going with a copter, so the next phase is some sort of Batwing. Those Comcast videos said a lot about the film and what is in it, as well as future films.

Dark black stealth helicopter I can see; but a "Batwing" is pretty stupid IMHO. A helicopter can take off and land almost anywhere. Plus a helicopter can hover in one place if needed. A Batwing can't do any of those things unless it has VSTOL tech. And even then it would probably still be limited as to where it could take off and land from. And wouldn't hover as effectively as a helicopter.

And stealth propeller(rotor) tech implies helicopter not Batwing.

i think something resembling the batmobile from the animated series would be awesome. sorta like a bullit shaped armour plated hyper car!!

I think it's possible to see a boat - with all the channels and rivers running inside of Chicago, it could work.

The Batwing always does those things though. I know it's just a comic but I'm sure there's a way to use the technology of a helicopter as well as a jet to make it work. Not to mention the jet is faster and the kind of thing you'd want when going from country to country as opposed to a helicopter.

Is there such a thing as a stealth helicopter, btw?

Knowing Nolan it can't just be limited to an aircraft though. There's gotta be some kind of trick or gimmick so I can see this thing being the boat/sub as well. It's happened more often than not in the books.

having a batboat, or jet or anything else will just screw up the franchise or the realism of Batman, so i just say make the Tumbler again with a few adjustments like it can go in water, idk

Considering the Tumbler was designed and built as a bridging device and was found useful as the Batmobile, I don't expect an exact replica returning. Like the survival suit, it was useful to Batman, but it wasn't designed for Batman. I'd like to see something sleeker, while the Tumbler was cool, in many ways it was big and clumsy, Batman would drive through cars/barriers instead of merely outmanuevering them. For a "stealth" hero, the Tumbler wasn't very stealth. In the next film I'd like to see a pairing of a totally redesigned Batmobile that utilizes some of the features of the Tumbler, and the Nolan-verse Batplane/jet.

They screwed up the realism when they brought in cel phone sonar tech. I think modifying existing stealth jet and boat technology wouldn't be a problem. :oldrazz: Hell, the Tumbler was created from scratch even. I don't think we have a precedent for that vehicle.

The only problem with having the Batplane/Jet to me is the fact that Batman seems to fly around Gotham already, so unless he's gotta fly a great distance then there really isn't a big need for the plane. In B89, the Batplane's only purpose was for him to get rid of the Smilex-balloons, so unless the next villan is using a fighter jet of some sort, or has his hideout on an offshore Island, I can't see the real need for a plane...maybe the bat-boat would be more appropriate.

:oldrazz:I knew the Tumbler was made from scratch and it was Nolans idea they went threw 8 designs before they had it. its a cross between a Lamborghini and a Tank!

and the sonar thing is very realistic, it being in his eyes i didn't like but its real!!!!

Back to Batmobile

Nolan i'm sure will come up with another idea for the batmbile, it might be the same with adjustments, like i said it be cool if it was able to go underwater but no separate boat!!!

i really dont want to see that fugly tumbler thing again. we've seen it twice, it got blown up, now we can start to think about making a REAL batmobile, sleeker, maybe more powerful, more gadgets, etc. possibly even some bat fins. i just dont want to see the tank again.

no batfins

if the fins look more like wings. Meaning they help steer the car it might work. They can't look like big flashy fins like the ones in forever

The batpod is a temporary solution. He needs protection and something more substantial so I expect another 4 wheel vehicle. Personally, I hope its a second Tumbler. One thing I hated about the previous films was how they kept changing the batmobile and it got more silly looking in each film.

i agree

nooo, not like the forever ones, although i think fins will always look cool, no matter how big. no, i was thinking smaller, more practical. no stupid dorsel fins like on the tumbler. the great thing about the B89 batmobile was that the fins were there, but they were smaller and not rediculously huge, but they were still there and noticable. they should do something similiar in batman 3 (7). they had a new batsuit in TDK, now they can finally have a new batmobile in the next one.

I was looking at the rivers in Chicago during the movie (okay fine, the GOTHAM RIVERS), and I was thinking something about a Bat-boat too. Only problem is that the James Bond movie The World Is Not Enough had what was essentially a bat-boat.

I think that the point of having Reese in the film was to say that people are noticing what Batmans using and that he has to change the Tumbler. Thats something that was almost a flaw in the first film but Nolan seems to use it to his advantage by making it a point of interest in this movie.

This movie almost sets up the next better than people think. I think that in the next movie we'll see the Batmobile and the Batcave (the Batcomputer including sonar included).

he didn't change to the batpod because of Reese he did it so he wouldn't die in the explosion of the tumbler

Time for a Batmobile that can also fly (at least a few feet off the ground).
