The Dark Knight Rises Will this movie break the trilogy curse?

He said he's been told she's getting a proper mask. Her goggles alone certainly wouldn't conceal her identity.
Back during Spider-Man 3, wasn't there rumours that Harry would don his father's gear in the final act? I wouldn't put too much faith in anything just yet. :csad:

everytime fanboys dont like a suit there is a big rumor that the suit will change.

Except, you know, Chris B is the one who started this "rumor" that he gleaned from one of his reliable sources. And his sources have proven to be reliable in the past so I do have faith that there'll be a cowl.

Every other site that I've read have all said the same thing - where the hell is the cowl and ears?

If Catwoman does not have some sort of cowl with cat ears, Nolan has seriously dropped the ball and there is no defense for it at all.

B-b-but Chris B said that there would be a cowl...

I don't put a lot of stock in random people who claim to have "the inside scoop". (With all due respect to Chris B.)

Well, those "random people" have proven to be reliable in the past...

Reliable or not, it is not fact. It's always best to take things with a grain of salt until something OFFICIAL is released or set spy pictures leak.

Well, we don't know when this takes place in the film, so she could very well get her cowl later on.

Her getting a mask later on seems kind of silly considering she's driving around in broad daylight with these sunglasses. Either these glasses disguise he well enough until she gets a cowl or she has no secret identity and wears a cowl for no practical reason later on. Either notion seems silly and not appropriate for Nolan's filmverse.

For me personally it sure won't top The Dark Knight since it is one of my favorite movies of all time. But if it's up there with Batman Begins I'll be more than satisfied and I will probably consider it one of the top 5 pure trilogies of all time.

Agree.

I completely agree with you on Catwoman!!!

Bane on the other hand I'm kind of torn between both sides. Yeah Im pretty bummed that they totally redid his appearence and werent that faithful to his traditional look (especially the mask) but at the same time he looks completely BA with his new look.

Don't be absolute. There is some defense with it. Even though I know she will get a cowl. I mean Batman is called Batman because he dresses as a Bat. Catwoman's first appearance was not actually as a Cat, just known as the Cat.

One of the primary reasons she is called Catwoman (san her appearance) is because she is a cat burglar, that is where they got the name, and started it. And then they fit a costume to it as well. If Batman ran around with a Bat, ya, he could have another reason why he's called Batman. But really is name does derive mainly from his appearance.

Catwoman's derives from two aspects, her looks, yes I know that. And as well her actions, being a cat burglar. I could see them calling her that for being a cat-burglar.

I feel that it is missing the cat ears to a point, but as Hunter and I talked about yesterday it is like a high tech Julie Newmar. The goggles do have some characteristics in its shape. Now do I want the cowl? Yes, I feel it is missing, and I will be slightly disappointed if not. However, "dropped the ball" almost insinuates that the film is failed and doom. No. No its not. Again the Joker arguments. "That's not the Joker it is a mime with panda eyes, that can take his make up on and off. Any Goon can take make up on and off. The Joker can only be the Joker because he can't take his face off." Now I never agreed with it, but people were extremely disappointed with him at first.

Now again I do think it will be a slight disappointment with the cowl missing. But I almost bet a 100 dollars right here and now she will have one. Crane took off his mask on and off, at times Batman in BB did not have it on. The scene we don't know what context why she's wearing what she's wearing.

Now I understand the complaints, I just think coming to the conclusion that he dropped the ball was exactly what people said with the Joker. And that turned out fine. From Chris's other source that told him about the stealing of the Bat-pod, gave us the background of Catwoman, and said that her story is amazing. And to me that is what makes or breaks a film to me, is the story good? Costumes are important, but much less to me than an actual story.

And again I have complaints with the no cowl as well, but I don't see it as a massive failure. A disappointment yes. But not an absolute failure.

Must not have heard this rumor back in '06-'07....dang, makes me wish one more thing that would've made Spider-Man 3 much better.

Chris B and Batman-news itself have been very, very, very reliable so far with TDKR. So, as much as I'll take it with a grain of salt until we see some proof, there is a part of me that thinks there is some truth to it.

I actually enjoyed X-Men 3 more than the first one. There were several good things about it I felt were overshadowed by the things that people didn't like.

I felt Iceman turning ice was a plus. Definitely something the first two movies left out that I'd been waiting to see. The Wolverine/Colossus combo was a nice touch. Bringing in Beast, a major player who'd been left out, and the casting choice, were both pluses. Juggernaut, although his costume design could've used some improvement, was a nice addition to the cast, though more screen time would have been nice. Same with Angel. Kinda cool to see him on film finally, but shoulda had more screen time. The Golden Gate Bridge scene was pretty epic. Definitely enjoyed that. And although Xavier's death was a huge deviation from the comics, I felt it was an emotionally powerful scene. Didn't bother me so much, and the snippet at the end sorta redeemed it. As for the first one, I appreciate that it sorta helped start the modern comic-to-movie movement, but it's not a movie that really grabs my attention. It has it's moments, but overall, the third installment was more entertaining...to me anyway. The 2nd one still beats the both of them. First Class too.

I agree with post!!! :woot:

Do you guys think with enough negative backlash, Nolan will be FORCED to add the cowl?

if the movie does fail...then unlike Rami, Donner, Singer, etc
There would be no one to blame but nolan because he's one of the few that has been able to keep complete control of the entire final act production.

very rare.

I think Toy Story 3 broke the trilogy curse most recently.

I was thinking, what if this movie fails? It seems that they are putting way too much into it. Just like with Spidey 3. I mean, I hope this movie is good. But I'm kind of worried that they are putting too much characters and action into it. Maybe I'm overthinking it and it's not that much. But it seems like it.
