Will TDKR break the trilogy curse? Not in most people's eyes, which is a shame, because it won't be judged on it's own merits. It already isn't.
If you look at Godfather III, just as its own entity, it's a very good movie. It's just not one of the greatest movies of all time like it's predecessors, so people view it as some type of failure instead of enjoying it for what it is, a damn good film.
There's a very real chance TDKR could be the worst movie of the trilogy while still being quite enjoyable. If you guys view that as a failure, so be it. Most of the time, the trilogy "curse" only comes into play when the first two installments went above and beyond, usually considered some of the best of it's respective genre. The law of averages tells me having three in a row is a most difficult endeavor. So I'll enjoy it just like I do SM3, for what it is...
