What do you all think? Hearing multiple times about how Thor's stuff got cut, along with hearing the length of the 3 hour cut, has made me want one.

Doubtful. We are yet to see Extended or Director's Cuts for TIH, IM2 or Thor 2.

It'd be great but I doubt it.

Yeah I would love to see it but Marvel never does this. Annoys me honestly. Alan Taylor said he would have loved to have done a Director's Cut of TDW.

Now that I think about, almost no movies have extended/director's cuts anymore when they hit blu-ray.

I doubt we'll see an extended cut anytime soon. I just hope we get a lot more deleted scenes than we usually do for the Blu-ray.

I think people have started to realize there is kind of a stigma attached to the term "director's cut", its basically saying "the theatrical version was ****, lets release this version and see if it gets a better reaction".

I doubt it only because the MCU has tight continuity and if they cut something it's probably because they don't want to adhere to that in the future. Hopefully we get all the deleted scenes in on the Blu Ray.

LOL! Good point.

Well it depends on what would be shown in an extended/director's cut. If its stuff that simply fleshes out the original story I don't see a problem. But if its something that completely contradicts or alters the theatrical version, then yeah I agree.

I very much hope for an extended addition. From photos it looks like there was even more to the party scene, like Tony and Sam chatting at a pool table. More importantly I'd like it if a few more expository scenes were expanded, maybe even including Thor's sub-plot.

When's the last time Disney released a Director's Cut of something?

I'd love to see one, I'm not expecting one because it's not Marvel's style. If any movie should get one, this would be it just because of how packed it was. I understand why you wouldn't want the movie to be longer in theaters, but, if it leads to a better movie, it's probably worthwhile on DVD.

I thought an extended version was announced? Was it not? :(

No, there was talk from Whedon about there being a longer cut of the movie which got trimmed down for the theatrical release. But no actual word about an extended version coming to dvd/blu ray

Sadly for me, the few directors cuts I have seen I find to be far better than the theatrical versions. Not much, but they are all of the LOTR and Hobbit films, and James Cameron's Aliens, The Abyss and Terminator 2.

Those are extended editions, though. Not director's cuts.

But I agree a lot of movies, even good ones, have great re-cuts. AOU should be one of them (I loved the movie, but, as Ultron said, we all can be better).

I will remain skeptical that we'll see an extended edition until it's officially confirmed. That said I do believe that we might get a lot of deleted scenes as Whedon said so, and if that happens we could at least get a good fan edit with those in. That's assuming that the deleted scenes are shown in very good quality and with finished effects.

There's not a significant difference between an extended addition and a director's cut in this context except who makes it. Marvel hasn't done either before and the original question was about an extended cut.

It seems they have limited the deleted scenes as well...I know in TDW the deleted scenes made available were a joke, there was tons of material other than what was made available...Marvel was basically protecting themselves from the obvious why the F*** was this not in the movie debate...
