The Amazing Spider-Man With Great Power, Comes Great Lounging - Part 10

Peter Parker looks and acts like a human...why was he an outcast in TAS-M?

Well, first of all, he IS human. I was only pointing out that Superman looks and acts human because... he might as well be a human.

Peter didn't seem to have any friends in TASM. He was portrayed as a loner until Gwen came along. He is also bullied by Flash.

He was an outcast in high school

Yeah.

Being a literal alien and living in a different world and no one being the same such as you...I would think that can be relatable to many people in this world.

And...for ****s and giggles...good ol' Honest Trailers :whatever: created posters it seems...anyone seen TAS-M's?

Yeah there are plenty of people around who are aliens and from a different world, especially the ones who can shoot laser from their eyes and bench press the earth

I love Superman, I find him to be one of the most interesting characters in comics. Speaking of comics, I might pick up the first issue of Superior and actually attempt at buying comics again. It would have to be that title only though...don't have THAT much money. I favor collected trades. Hopefully I can find ASM 700 too.

:D Awesome! I'm actually just watching Voyager right now, currently in the middle of season 2. I hear that Enterprise only gets better with every season, and that they start to tie things together with TOS (like the Klingon ridges) and such. I can't wait to see that.

What is your favorite series between TOS, TNG, and DS9?

Well I watched TNG the most due to massive reruns on TV. But I was quite fond of DS9. I have been planning a rewatch of all the Treks on Netflix. I've forgotten alot of DS9, VOY, and ENT.

DS9 had the best characters and character development IMO. I think the only letdown was the finale, since it kind of just... ended. And there was still so much more to tell. Here is how I rank them:

  1. DS9
  2. TNG
  3. TOS
  4. VOY
  5. ENT

How about the movies? As much as people dislike The Motion Picture, I love it. Its 100% Sci-Fi. Very underrated IMO.

Definitely underrated. I enjoy every Trek film including Nemesis. Don't get the hate it gets. Data was my favorite TNG character sure but the film was fun.

I hope you enjoy what you buy

I hope so too, I'd like to go for Action comics and the new X-Men title as well but its probably better to start fresh with a new series and focus on one thing. I will continue buying trades though. I'm years behind in everything. And I'm cheap lol.

Overrated, or do you mean underrated?

I can understand why people don't like the Final Frontier, as it is very flawed. Generations wasn't bad at all, I just think it had a ton of wasted potential with Kirk. Insurrection wasn't a bad movie, it was just a really good episode. Nemesis was good, though I wish there was a sequel since the movie ended on a bad note, with Data's death and all.

1. Wrath of Khan
2. The Voyage Home
3. The Undiscovered Country
4. First Contact
5. Star Trek (2009)
6. The Motion Picture
7. The Search For Spock
8. Generations
9. Nemesis
10. The Final Frontier
11. Insurrection

Oops i mean underrated. I've been on a typo spree as of late. Yeah I wish Nemesis had a sequel that would of been the final TNG film instead and expanded upon this new Data. I find Wrath of Kahn to be the largely overrated one. I like it but not as obsessively as others.

I think the Search for Spock is my favorite Trek film, although I really love 2009 as well because I love time travel/alternate universe scenarios. Plus being a big Star Wars fan the film felt like a very Star Wars version of Trek...or vice-versa.

I've forgotten just about all of Generations...will watch it again someday..

What's great about the 2009 film is that it was both a reboot, a sequel, and a prequel all rolled into one. We have prime Spock (and Nero) from the original timeline, which takes place after Star Trek: Nemesis (why its a sequel). They go back time, which alters what happens, creating an "alternate timeline," hence this film being a reboot. They could have easily just made a new Star Trek reboot which doesn't acknowledge the original timeline, but thankfully, this one does. We get to see the original crew as their younger selves (hence it being a "prequel"), coming together in this new universe.

Its has the action of Star Wars with the science-fiction themes/elements and characters of Star Trek. Perfect way to bring both sets of fans together.

I've yet to see the new Star Trek. If I'm with friends and they want to watch it, I'll sit and give it a go, but I'm not gonna seek it out myself to watch. I'm more of a Wars person than a Trek person.

Wasn't Clark a loner with no friends in high school as well? Look at Superman: The Movie where Clark was a ball boy and only Lana noticed him as much as Gwen noticed Peter in TAS-M.

Yah, I get your point...because plenty of people get bitten by radioactive and/or genetically enhanced spiders as well.

Your point being?

Clark Kent is Kal-El trying to be a normal human but that doesn't even work out in a positive manner as Clark still feels like he doesn't belong which can relate to a lot of people even in this day and age.

Being an outcast is not the main reason why Peter Parker is relatable

I am aware of this.

Yeah I don't see the Trek vs Wars battles on the web too much anymore. I loved having the original Spock over any other character as Spock is my favorite TOS character. I know some Trek fans are upset about it, but being a alternate universe keeps the original timeline intact while paving the way for new adventures for the franchise.

You will like Trek 2009 if you're more of a Star Wars fan. I was blown away by it. Probably my favorite of 09.

Eh, it wasn't as bad as I expected, but Ock doesn't seem to even be trying to be good or be Peter. He's just acting like himself, just under the name Peter Parker and Spider-Man.

Star Trek '09 is up there as one of my favorite movies of that decade. I was that blow away by it.

And yeah I must say that Superior was awesome. I was skeptical going in but Slott pulled it off.

Where can I find those?

Superman came to Earth as a small child, and was raised by two humans since then. He looks and acts human, only he has super powers. I don't see him as an outcast at all. He pretends to be a socially awkward outcast in his life as Clark Kent.

He feels like an outcast inside himself, in his soul. It's not about how he act but how he feels. Deep inside he feels he doesn't belong on Earth since he's an alien.

It's actually a very good metaphor for how probably alot of immigrants feel.

I like Clark Kent, but Superman? Naaah..

Our national football team fails this tournament :csad:
What an upsetting waste of resources and potential talents

Superman is just too powerful IMO. Having Kryptonite that one weakness always felt boring to me.

^Yup, this!

BTW, finally some news on what Nolan is up to next! :) I can't wait!

Yeah, he is making movie called Interstellar, right? About how wormholes exist, or something like that.

Red sun radiation and magic.

Indeed. I wonder if it'll go up against Pfister's film.

It's a theory by Kip Thorne and was a project that's been talked about since '07 that Jonathan Nolan is still signed to write I believe. Been waiting for it for years.
