With Star Trek's success, what comes next?

Good christ, for once, can we talk about SW or sci fi without the bashing of Lucas when his name is heard? :facepalm

We ****ing get it.

I dont know, can we get a thread that talks about comic book movies without people treating TDK like an overrated piece of **** because of the over-zealous psychos on the bat-boards?

Because then I might consider it.

Street goes both ways dude.
Can anyone have an opinion of the new Trek other than "Nom nom nom JJ's twig and berries, Nom!" And not be considered a quack or a cook?:oldrazz:

Power Rangers.

They need to revamp that and make it an awesome summer action flick

It's true. I've been saying it for years. Or year. Either way, it needs to be done. It could be a franchise that rivals Transformers.

That said, it needs to not be for another few years. At least until everyone has washed the taste of the past twenty-something spinoffs out of their mouths...

Transformers (especially Devastator) is proof that a serious revamp of Power Rangers could definately work. If I was given the chance to redo it, I would get rid of the whole random teens being chosen and all the stupid synchrnonized poses and whatnot.

That's an fantastic idea(I actually did a little outline of a remake of that myself) but we need the show off the air for a few years for that to work. It needs to be off the air for at LEAST 5-6 years to even be doable and probably another 4 or 5 before it's possible that people other than kids and nostalgic fans of the original "mighty morphin" will want to go. It needs to be played as teen/young adult sci-fi superhero stuff ala x-men, spider-man, etc. or it won't fly.

As for Star Trek's effects:

-We'll see more sci-fi remakes but they will be of slightly better quality or MUCH better quality than we've been getting. The most likely candidates are probably Stargate and Battlestar Galactica. The only problem is that those shows don't really need to have their franchises updated again yet. BSG is right now about where trek was back when the next generation was considerd hip and awesome. It doesn't need it. If they were going to make a movie, I know there's a great resistance from the fanbase to recast again this quickly as many are quite fond of the last cast that just played Adama, Baltar, etc. Stargate isn't as big of a critical darling but I don't think their fans want a reboot yet either.

-There wont' be more star wars until Lucas deems it worthy. There's no rush. that franchise is evergreen.

-Not soon, but I predict within 10 years, we'll have a buffy the vampire slayer remake film that incorporates many elements of the old tv series and comics we've come to know and love. How soon depends on if Whedon will be allowed to have some way of bringing back the old cast for a reunion movie on the big screen. If that never happens, a remake that whedon will produce but not write or direct will probably happen one day.

-There'll probably be two more trek films with the current cast and there will be a great resistance to go further than that. They'll probably want a trilogy and then want to end it to avoid burning people out on the franchise again.
