Honestly, i'd be much much happier with BND if they didnt completely ignore all the progress that JMS made with Peter Parker and aunt may the last 6 six years.If Peter wasnt acting like such a juvenile idiot and aunt may acting like a decrepit old woman, then i'd overlook everything else that OMD has done.

Joey Q. is an AMAZING EIC.

he WILL go down as one of the greatest no doubt.

he just hasn't made the best choices for spidey since like...ever.
i really believe if OMD had been written better, without pete resorting to mephisto there still would have been pissed fans. but more people would be on the book currently.

In terms of releasing TPBs. Quesada is the man. Cival War as an interesting concept. In his time as EIC he's done alot more good stuff than he has bad....

I do agree that he has screwed most spidey fans over multiple times. I bet EVERYONE on this board that is a Spidey fan can think of at least one time where they got screwed by Queseda....obviously I'm not only talking about BND.

i didnt like the other
i didnt like civil war (spider-man,I am not referring to back in black however)
I hated the unmasking.

3 events that destroyed spidey. and just when you think things couldnt get anyworse queseda makes the suddenly moron follower of iron man Peter make a deal with the devil to dump his wife to save his aunt for the 40th time.

I'm sorry, I loved the character of Aunt May but if they can't keep her as a good supporting character that knows his secret than she has DEFINITELY over stayed her welcome. how is it ever going to be dramatic when shes in trouble AGAIN?

SERIOUSLY! how could they mess up THIS BAD!!!
I don't blame JMS whether he was going to reboot spidey or whatever...but he's never turned out crap like this. all of his issues were well written whether i liked the story and direction or not.

Whats funny is that despite the stuff he did with Spidey, Joe Q has probably done more good than bad at Marvel.

More importantly, how is it ever going to be dramatic when she inevitably learns of Peter's identity yet AGAIN?? It's inevitable that some writer in the future is gona make her re-re-discover that her nephew is Spider-man. When that happens, it will have no impact whatsoever becuase it will have been the third time she learned it and every fan is gona roll their eyes.

RE learning Pete's identity.

RE staying stupid and not figuring it out.

RE getting deathly ill and Pete making more with devils to keep her alive longer??

Will Aunt May learn she owes her life to Satan??

Will she remain ignorant of Pete's identity?

Will she re-re-discover his identity?

Exactly all the questions you guys have brought up.

What's Aunt MAy's role now? She is the reason the baby was mystically aborted and Pete can never marry. They've REALLY DEGRESSED her big time.

I mean, they've (Joe) really made Aunt May into a loser character with no where to go with her within the confines of this reboot, without getting into what he's done to Pete and MJ.

Just look at poor old Aunt May. Really look at what they've done to this good character.

And then if she does re-learn ANYTHING, .....devil mindwipe will be needed AGAIN. Just like PEte if he dates, he can't marry, and if so, then he is double married. SO, this reboot just opens cans of worms, and NO ROOM FOR PROGRESSION.

I really think this reboot came about out of response to stories like sins past and the other.

Sad thing that Joe didn't realize is we all cared about this Peter because of the writing JMS put in. That Peter felt the most down to earth than ANY OTHER incarnation I've read. Now THAT is how you write Spidey. even Paul jenkins did an amazing job on characterization.

But now we're back in the hip 70s, ya dig?

^PAD was also getting into a groove i thought with his Spidey before the reboot.

I was like many of the various book's storylines.

I mean, some of the tie-in events were forced and out of character, like Pete becoming Iron-Man's Boy Wonder and wearing his suit and stripping in front of the entire world...but overall, JMS, PAD, Jenkins, they were all doing a good job, with the direction they were given that Pete sadly was on a count-down to.

That's the current problem now, we've got good writers again, yet they are saddled with Joe's poor direction for Spidey specifically.

We've got GREAT writers on Spidey at the moment! I've been waiting on Slott and/ or Wells being given their shot at nmainstream Spidey for a while and they're not disappointing thus far.

I'm just not a fan of how restricted the writing feels in this. It feels like the writers have very strict guidelines to follow and are not really allowed to branch off and be creative with their work. Marvel has proved in recent years that when a writer is given complete and total liberty with his work, it can produce some fantastic results: i.e. Daredevil, Captain America, Ironman: Director of Shield, Incredible Hulk, Ironfist, Astonishing and Uncanny X-men, Punisher Max, and even JMS' early run of Amazing Spiderman. All these books have been absolutely brilliant in recent years because Quesada gave the writers complete liberty to do what they wanted with their stories, it truly felt like anything could happen at any time. But now, they're taking spiderman to a "back to basics" approach, and the writers have to work within restricted guidelines and are basically being dictated what kind of stories they should be writing for Spiderman. This in my opinion, is what will ultimately doom BND.

Seriously, he did alot of good for MARVEL, but not for Spidey. Had he brought in this talent without a massive reboot, then I would tip my hat to the guy.

The fact that peter is willing to make a deal with the devil after over 500 issues is ridiculous. and the deal he made was also. the reeboot is ok, but the new character are lame. I would have preferred if just spider-man revealing himself was erased not everyones knowledge of his identity it seem like the venom symbiote didn't even know who peter parker was, but just knew he was the original host. I think menace and jackpot are some what interesting at the moment but mainly just cause I want to know who they are going to wind up actually being. BND could have been done good, if like after peter realized what he had done erasing his future daughter's life he sought out mephisto and did what ever it takes to get the life he had back, but instead he just goes with the flow and thats the lamest part. he doesn't care about the world he's changed he's just gonna go with it like nothing happened.

Well the fact that he doesn't remember the deal with Mephisto has something to do with it....
