Wolverine filming update/news.

We guys know it's a little more complicated than that.
X1 - own hair plus hair-pieces until his hair grew long enough
X2 - own hair except for the reshoots
x3 - wigs
Watching his hair change from one scene to the next is one of the joys of the franchise.

The hair changes in X2 were too noticeable, lol. :p

That cropped photo made it look like a costume, but I think you guys are right about the day off thing. Just looks like some casual wear.

Hopefully they don't give him a full black leather costume, because it'd make what he said in X1 kinda dumb...but then again, he would have forgot, eh? :p

There's no way he wore a wig in X3. I've seen behind the scenes footage of the forest scene, and he passes his hand through his hair lots of times.

During X2 he only wore the wig during the re-shoots (One shot by Alkali Lake and the final scene between him and Scott).

He doesn't just grow his hair for no reason.

The first thing i thought of was Alkali Lake when i looked at the surroudings.:o

The jacket looks a lot like his costume from the movies so it'd be easy to confuse it. I doubt that Logan will be wearing the same clothes in the prequel though but anything is possible.

X-3 started filming in August 2005. In February 2005 Hugh was completing filming on "The Fountain" and he was bald during that time.

In June 2005 he hosted the Tony Awards and here's how much his hair had grown back from February to June:

Right before he filmed X3 he filmed "Scoop":

So he had to have worn a wig, at least for some parts of X3, unless his hair grew super-fast when X3 started filming in August.

You're wrong about The Fountain. Hugh shot that after X3, he talks about it in an interview for Men's Health magazine. During the interview he points out how he had to master Yoga in order to shoot the futuristic scenes and how hard it was because he had gained so much muscle mass for The Last Stand.

On another note, during every on-set interview of Jackman for X3, he has his hair slicked back - not missing. There are a few vids on Youtube but my source is the 2 Disc Collector's Edition of X3 (Region 2). He comes out wearing a hat with hair under it, walking around the set with his civilian hairstyle, no wigs.

If you notice, Almost every scene of X3 has Hugh with a consistent hairstyle. The only scenes where its different (too short because the bangs aren't long enough) are when he meets Beast, when Xavier senses Scott's death and Logan runs to see what's going on and when he's watching Xavier's funeral from far away.

Hugh's a hairy guy, and I myself can grow VERY long hair in 2 months.

I think Hugh had some help in the hair department, as Ted shows. I remember his hair was longer and fuller right when X3 began filming (via a wig or extensions).

Sorry, Thomas Logan, but you're wrong on this one.
The Fountain was filmed from Nov 2004 to Feb 2005 and the shaved head scenes were filmed last. Scoop was filmed immediately before X3.

If someone can find a picture of Hugh receiving his Emmy award you can see how short his real hair was in the middle of the X3 shoot.

I forgot about the Emmy Awards! Here's some pics:

And he's not bald in it.

He's not bald in it because this was done while he was filming X3 and after he filmed The Fountain - that filming was from November 2004 to Feb. 2005. He filmed the bald parts in January/February 2005 where his head was completely shaved. After he finished filming at the end of February his hair started to grow back but wasn't long enough by the time X3 started filming, as the Emmy Award evidence shows - the Emmys were in September 2005.

Celestial, by saying I'm wrong you're saying Men's Health Magazine is wrong and you're saying Hugh Jackman himself is wrong. If Jackman says he shot The Fountain after X3, I believe him.

On the Emmy subject, He may have been on pre-pro when attending the Emmys and up to 2-3 months prior to shooting. He's been growing his current beard since September (5 months prior to principal photography).

Please watch the Youtube link, there's hair coming out of the sides of his hat.

Narrows101, what you're saying does make sense. Is it possible that Jackman didn't get in front of the camera for X3 until November '05?

With all due respect TL - I am a huge Hugh fan, and I (along with a few other Hugh fans here I'm sure) followed every move of the filming of THE FOUNTAIN. That movie was filmed in Montreal from November 2004 through February 2005. He shot THE PRESTIGE after X3, from January-April 2006.

About the beard - Hugh filmed AUSTRALIA from April to December 2007 and had a full beard the whole time he filmed that - there have been set pictures and such of him for the whole nine months. There were some pictures of him after filming ended on Dec. 21 where it looked like he had shaved the beard and was scruffy only, but believe me, I know about the beard, I haven't seen a picture of that gorgeous mug without a beard since last March LOL!!! X3 started filming in August 2005 and I believe we saw the first photo of Hugh in costume not long after that. He flew from the set in Vancouver to attend the Emmy Awards in September.

If Hugh was wearing wigs or hair extensions for X3, I must say I am immensely impressed. His hair looks extremely natural throughout the entire film, not to mention it looks like his authentic straight dark brown hair.

I have no doubt that Liev will have some kind of hairpiece for his role as Creed.

It was a wig, Thomas...just let it go. :cwink:

I'm going to add myself to the list of Hugh fans who can also confirm that The Fountain and Scoop were filmed before X3. He shaved his head for The Fountain and it was still growing back in Scoop, which narrows showed in those photos.

Also, his hair was still very short when he hosted the Tonys, which was the same summer as Scoop and X3.

X3 was filmed after, his hair was still growing back, hence it was a wig. And a fairly obvious one, if you ask me.

And I've known narrows long enough to know she's a much better source on all things Hugh than Men's Health Magazine, so don't doubt her on this. :cwink:

Nope. He won an Emmy in early September, he had his Wolverine sideburns and mentioned to reporters that was currently filming X3. I believe the first set photos leaked just before that.

It's a wig.

His hair was best in X1 (but inconsistent), it got worse in X2 (too neat), and it sucked in X3 (too long, made his head look big, basically ridicluous-looking).

His hair was great at the beginning of X1--from the cage match to getting knocked out by Sabretooth--and it's like it got gradually worse through out the movies after that.

Danoyse, I really don't understand why you would think he was obviously wearing a wig. If he did then he did, but it certainly isn't obvious. I'm guessing you're just not used to seeing guys with long hair. In today's America every man seems to be clean shaven with short hair.

Leon, not only do I disagree with you on your opinions in regards to Hugh's hair in the films, but Hugh himself has talked about how much happier he was with Wolverine's look in X3 in comparison to how he looked in the first film. In X3, the man looks like the Wolverine (from the comic). I agree that in some parts of X2 it was too neat or at times too short, but it looked way off in most of X1 (the stuff they shot first). I'm glad they shot the bar scenes at the end when his hair and physique had improved a great deal.

I've worked in New York for 11 years, I've seen guys with long bright orange hair riding neon green bicycles in the middle of 5th Avenue. Trust me, I've seen guys with long hair. :cwink:

I've been a fan of Hugh's for awhile, so I've seen just about all of his movies and I saw him on stage when he was on Broadway a few years ago (5 times!) so I'm kinda familiar with how he looks, and his hair didn't look like his at all in X3.

I also knew he had just filmed a movie where he'd shaved his head a few months prior, and it was still very short when I saw him hosting the Tonys in the early part of the summer, so it seemed obvious with X3 starting up soon, he would need a wig to get the look right.

And I also agree with Leon...his hair in X1 looked the best.

Wolverine's hair usually looks ridiculous in the comics, so the fact that Hugh's hair looked more like that in X3 doesn't impress me.

And I don't really care if Hugh was happy with his poofy hair in X3. The guy gave his worst protrayal of Wolverine in X3, yet it's the movie over which he had the most creative control.
