Wonder Woman Costume Suggestions

Again... if that's what you want, watch the porno.

No thanks I don't watch porn. Fanservice is cool, but its far from my main point. Wonder woman wearing lots of armor is impractical and out of character for her. She's all about doing the impossible even though she doesn't look like she can do so. If you think she needs armor to be taken seriously then you really don't get her.

Exactly! If there's any female character who can choose to wear less, it's Wonder Woman because armor isn't practical anyway. She doesn't have to be in a skimpy bathing suit, but she shouldn't have to cover up to the point where she ONLY looks like a soldier. Wonder Woman is also a princess and is known for her beauty. Her outfit should involve that balance too. Besides, royal armor tends to be decorative.

:woot: Nice to see someone who agrees with me.

Again, there's nothing to comparing a porno outfit to the classic iconic costume worn by a character that men, woman and children have looked up to for nearly 7 decades.

It's a sad day that Wonder Woman's classic costume that your grandmother read as a kid is now considered a porno costume.

The only problem with Wonder Woman's costume is needing the right actress to pull it off. You need an actress who can look beautiful, but not overtly sexy, something that wasn't done with Black Widow.

Surely, as a feminist, Wonder Woman doesn't need to confine herself to the standards of men? Why can't she be seen purely as an individual rather than a woman?

Probably because she's known as Wonder Woman instead of Wonder Person. :oldrazz:

Again, if you're only argument is that it's "iconic" then your argument isn't that strong to begin with. Why would a warrior/diplomat/princess from an island of immortal ancient females who have been isolated from the outside world for millennia wear an outfit that looks almost exactly like a modern-day one-piece swimsuit? If you can't even answer that basic question, then your argument falls apart right away. Why would she wear it and not armor, or even a toga, besides it being "iconic?"

Exactly.

And as has been said over and frickin' over again... I do not want Wonder Woman dressed up in a medieval knight's chain-mail armor, or even in something that looks like the kind of Batsuits Batman has worn in all the live-action films (except the 40's serials and the 60's show/movie). I would just prefer a costume that at least leans a tiny bit towards the one Sif wears than the one Lynda Carter wore (which looks to me like pajamas, to be frank). You could even remove the pants; just maybe replace them with high-leg boots.

Or even better... why not a multi-faceted costume? The basic one could essentially be the classic costume with maybe with a battle skirt, but there are other parts she wears depending on the threat level of the evil being faced. And for the final battle she could wear full battle gear, which would basically resemble what Sif wears, but obviously with the full Wonder Woman motif.

Is there really a problem with that? It creates a situation where literally no one could be upset because, throughout the film(s), literally everyone would see the WW costume they want to see.

You really don't want to get into semantics abut costumes.

Wonder Woman is not Sif and should not dress like Sif because they don't have the same power sets. Wonder Woman is MUCH stronger. More than 3 times stronger.

You're still trying to make all females dress the same instead of looking at what each character would wear given their abilities. If Wonder Woman needs more protection, she brings a shield. I'd be more concerned for Batman or the other Justice League members than Wonder Woman when it comes to needing full battle armor. Wearing less makes Wonder Woman look stronger the same way all Superman wears is tights.

Other than her cuffs, Wonder Woman's costume isn't really about protection. It's just durable enough to last her battles. Her costume is mainly about status as the champion of the Amazons. I don't even remember when she uses her costume for protection and she certainly isn't afraid of taking a beating.

Again, I'm using Sif as an example. Again, I want Wonder Woman to look like an immortal Amazonian warrior, not a ****ing US-American covergirl.

It seems to me the people who see her costume as a swim suit must also see Superman and Batman's normal costumes and longjohns with outside underwear attached, if you don't then you're inconsistent at best.

I will tell you this and I firmly believe if you change it too much it simply will not be accepted by the public.

Despite the fact your rebuttal is completely inadequate and The "voice of wisdom" quote seems to show a disturbing lack of flexibility and an u=incredible amount of well ... mundaneness. Your costume idea is not without merit.

My 23 year old daughter would however give you real hell and revoke your nerds license for calling her costume a swimsuit.

My point is wanting her to look like Wonder Woman has more or less looked for decades. If that makes her look like a ******* covergirl/porno actress to you, then the problem lies with you.

QFT

Wonder Woman doesn't need more than her bracelets for armor.

I could see a MoS universe :ww: wearing this

This would be good on film actually. Them in some scenes show her wearing the battle armour skirt. Her wearing just her underwear throughout the whole film is just not practical

I'd make her emblem less chunky, make the bracelets more traditional, and give her a slightly larger tiara. Otherwise, it's pretty nice looking.

It's considered "porno quality" and sexist because it IS sexist. It was from a time where there was little to none gender equality, and the only reason to maintain that stupid sexification is bigotry, adult innecesary conservationism or adolescent hornyness.

Lose the arm gloves and give her her bracelets or some gauntlets, Add more silver to the colour scheme, give her boots a bit of a feminine oomph and a more defining colour(maybe red), a better tiara, and then we're good for the most part. Anyways, nice design.

You're kidding right. This is your best argument regarding the costume. Its sexist? Pssh, try again.

You fail to see the costume for what it is, and frankly that's why you fail.

Horny adolescent or sexual bigot?

yeah, let's keep "classic", let's pretend that being bound by a man it's still not a stupid and chauvinistic weakness to a strong, smart and powerful example of an heroine.

Though I agree 100%, let's remove the sexism from it entirely (simply for the sake of argument*) and look at it just from a style standpoint:

I just don't think it makes Wonder Woman look like a warrior. Especially when she stands alongside others in the Justice League, its pretty clear that the men especially (Superman, Batman, etc) mean business, while Wonder Woman exists as wank material.

I just want her to look more like a warrior. I'm not really sure why there's push-back against that. Warriors, even warriors who happen to be women, don't wear one-piece swimsuits when they're fighting. I don't think there's anything controversial about that point at all...

(*For the record, I'm not disagreeing with you at all. It's just that well... I'll come out and say it. I don't like the classic suit. I think it makes Wonder Woman look like a chauvinistic male fantasy [tying her up makes her weak... could that not be any more obvious?], and makes her look like a joke next to heroes like Batman and Superman... which, sadly, seems to be the fate of every woman hero, since I guess they are never taken as seriously as the men heroes, which really sucks. I want to see WW in a suit that takes her more seriously as an actual hero.)
